We travelled to Koti Resort for the New Year and stayed there from 30/12 to 03/01 for 4 nights.
We were a large group of friends with families and spent a lot of time researching a good property to stay at, away from the hustle bustle of Shimla.
Fortunately we discovered Koti Resort and it was just the kind of place we were looking for.
A beautiful resort property with a wonderful view of the valley, calm, quiet and picturesque.
We took the delux rooms & the suits. The rooms were very comfortable and well heated. The suits were very spacious and big enough for a family of 4 with 2 teenage kids.
The property also has a beautiful lawn overlooking the valley, and a very well maintained lounge bar for private parties, which we booked for our group for a nominal charge.
What also impressed us was the eager to please staff, who happily complied to all requests, be it late serving of dinner, organising bon fires at short notice, etc.
Mr. Rajiv Ahuja, the GM of the property, ensured our stay was more than comfortable and all our needs were well taken care of.
While all aspects of our stay was wonderful, the resort would do well to address one issue pertaining to the food. This was the only aspect which none of us really enjoyed. The food wasn't bad but was not great as one would expect in a property of this stature, both in terms of veriety & taste.
Overall I would highly recommend Koti Resort as a brilliant destination for a vacation with family & friends.

Huge property, 15 km away from crowded shimla Food is tasty, Hospitality is superb. Hotel staff is very well trained and managed
Rooms are big and clean, Big French windows give magnificent view of hills from rooms itself. There is a separate play area for kids. We arranged a marriage function there and can not name a single issue that we faced during such huge event.
Thanks Ahuja ji for managing such big event in such professional and perfect manner.

So after the pandemic, I was naturally concerned about how to travel and what places will be safe and not. I researched and realised that Koti Resort is one place that is following all the safety protocols and is one good place to visit. So visited this in Nov 2020 and had a blast. First of all all safety precautions were followed. The place was sanitised well and entire staff was seen wearing masks and following social distancing. Rooms were sanitised in front of us and everything is taken care of.
The rooms are lovely. Must go for premium rooms with spectacular views and a jacuzzi too.
The rooms are certainly comfortable and spacious and spick and span.
The staff is extremely cordial, helpful and hospitable.
Now let’s talk about my favourite. The food here is so good I will go back just to eat their delicacies. They serve such authentic himachali food and the regular North Indian, South Indian, Continental fare that trust me you will fall in love with the flavours.
They arranged picnic for us at the Kiar Koti river stream side and also horse riding to naldhera golf course. They also had bonfire night and Sufi night with bonfire in indoor fireplace for us. These experiences are once in a lifetime and I will al wats fondly remember them.
Thanku Koti Resorts for being so considerate, so enjoyable and so awesome.
Special mention for resort manager Mr Rajeev who is the perfect host and treated us so well.

We chose Koti after a lot of research.
Location motivated us to go with Koti along with warmth and promptness of Rajeev Ji.
He is a highly patient individual who caters to all needs of the guests.

We booked the property for 130 guests in April 2022 and it was managed well.
Food is a strong point for Koti with great variety and hygiene maintained.

The property provides a 360 degree view of the Mashobra hills.

The only improvement suggested is regular maintainence of bath tubs / jacuzzi or AC, because there were a few rooms with less than ideal maintainence plus the garden area needs more tending of grass to maintain the beauty of the place.

Overall, a good experience with decent selection of external vendors for wedding events.

We booked 4 suites at Koti with Mr. Danny helping us with a direct book deal with breakfast included for 2 nights.

To start with we were welcomed by very courteous staff who were ready to serve us lunch the moment we landed. Amazing butter chicken with Tawa Roti and Dal Makhni quite satisfying.

To mention, Goldy Bhai always stood to make that extra effort to help us with anything we needed. The staff and his team was warm and kids friendly.

Also, to mention Dinesh who served us during wee hours while we were made comfortable with delicious snacks and bonfire. He was quite helpful is attending us and get even the oddest request in no time.

I remember our lazy afternoon when everyone of us were craving for Steamed Momos, and Mr. Ranjeev Ahuja the manager got it ready for us even though the Momos weren't even a part of the Dining Menu..

Lastly Mr. Prakash Sharma, the man at the reception was ever smiling and made all check=in, check-out process a piece of cake.

Though we missed the snow.....I recommend couple, friends and families to really consider this property if you want serene views, tasty food, courteous staff and 20kms away from rush rush Shimla.

I would give 0 stars if I had that option but unfortunately I can’t do that so that’s why I am give them 1 star. It is a very good looking property but the only problem is they don’t want to accommodate you. They’re charging you for everything that is meant to be complementary in a good hotel. I think nobody charges for Ice buckets, water and basics are over priced. I came here in February 20 22 paid 7000 for the room and asked them to give me a bonfire right in the back but they asked Me for 2500 deposit so that they could give me the bonfire facility Veras 150 m away sarovar Portico for a lower price for the room is giving us all the amenities as a luxurious guest and what these people are doing is making money of the opportunities that should be given to a customer As a Complimentary service. They had all the games table tennis and everything available as amenities as soon as I asked them for a pool table they charged me 200 bucks for an hour and as I ordered a drink this serve me with complementary peanuts on the other hand as soon as I went to my room and asked for the same service for complementary peanuts with drinks they said it is charged because you’re calling for the peanuts in your room it is not about the peanuts it’s just the poor hospitality in this place is unacceptable and if you’re ready to spend five to Rs.7000 on a room I would ask you to prefer Marigold sarovar portico over koti resort. Have a good stay in Shimla And naldhera guys. I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody. It was the worst experience of our life’s. Thank you.

Response from Koti Resort, General Manager at Koti Resort
Responded 27 Feb 2022
Dear Sir Greetings from Koti Resorts!! I have gone through your review and feel that you have not liked the very idea of the charges towards services asked by your self. Pls be understand, we are a destination Resort and herein all the services which you are seeking as complimentary, have a cost and are borne by the customers directly. All the room service is chargeable and if the staff is letting you know the charges in advance, there is nothing unhospitable about it. All the hotels even star category, charges for ice bucket, snacks etc asked in room service. For the bonfire, the fire-wood is purchased by the Resort to be offered to its customers. We do not get fire-wood free of cost and if we are not getting the same free, how can we offer complimentary to our guests. Pool table is also a chargeable game and all the Resorts, do charge to maintain the same. A small scratch on the cloth, when played with negligence leads to huge repair cost. Pls don't be offended of the fact that ,our staff has given you the pricing of the services asked for, it's but genuine and nothing unhospitable. We do wish to have you again with us at Koti Resorts and enjoy our ambience and services. Regards

Rooms:
We booked 6 rooms in the resort, the room size was decent, but the furniture and furnishings were poorly maintained, cleanliness was compromised. House keeping was poor. Small things like refilling water and changing coffee mugs, toiletries etc had to be repeatedly asked. Something as basic as room iron was refused.
They do not provide room heaters, the suite room has a separate sitting area where the room a.c cannot warm and we could not use it as it was sub zero temperatures.
The food:
The breakfast had limited options and taste wise was just average. The dinner was a shade better but again there were limited options and could be better.
Hospitality: poor
They have more ‘NO’S than Yes
Not possible, we do not have is repeated more than effort to please the guest.
Something like a bonfire, was refused and then after repeated requests an obnoxiously high price was quoted.
They have not mentioned there amenities on their website.
The good thing: it’s a pet friendly resort.
There are better resorts nearby with better amenities. I would strongly recommend looking around for other options than Koti resort.

My stay at Koti Resorts for 3 days and 2 nights had been an experience worth every second of my time and energy. It a beautiful resort surrounded by beautiful and spectacular view of the Himalayas. The resort, with its 54 elegantly appointed rooms & suites, is located a mere 30 minutes ahead of Shimla, between the picturesque town of Mashobra and the world famous Naldehra Golf Course.
The Resort provides a luxurious experience with family or friends, rather a perfect place for Holidays or intimate gatherings.
The staff and service is top-class. Everything is on the go as soon as you ask for it. Very polite staff and luxurious services here made my stay quite enjoyable and me & my group of friends has the best time of our lives. From delicious breakfasts to lavish dinners ranging from almost every cuisine here is a treat for the foodies like myself. The Bonfire and Musical Night in the Bar Area had been the highlight of my stay.
The rooms are ultra luxurious and comfortable is well taken care of.
If you’re heading towards the hills or planning one such trip, my recommendation would be to stay at Koti Resorts and experience the best time you can have. Koti Resorts is located on a charming hill-top.

So, i am staying at the resort as i write this. So this is live :

1. First impressions, you kinda get lost on the approach and there is no clear signage.

2. The reception area is rather lackadaisical and its very transactional.

3. We booked 2 suites, 10 days in advance.
Talking about suites, they just dont look like suites its, its a small room with a v small sitting area. More so, they gave us suites with the worst view because apparently all the else were taken.

4. Its one of the oldest property, with aged furniture which is not renovated and the age just shows.
Rooms are worn out and they are wierd in shape. There are unnecessary step downs in rooms which are rather not comfortable.

5. The buffet is not worth the money. The dinner was still acceptable but the breakfast was v limited with basic items.

6. They keep fresh fruits as breakfast menu which again is not at all fresh. I asked them few times to change the stale apples and banana but I was told since the season is off, This is all they have. Even though we get absolutely fresh fruit in our home town.

7. They have construction going on right next to a section of their suites and rooms, so There is constant noise and sewage smell.

8. Games and activities are next to nil and most of the equipment is broken.

9. On the positive, the house keeping staff is helpful. They tried to upgrade our room when the suites given to us were below average.

10. There was a marriage booking for the same dates , so the resort was decorated and looked pretty.

11. The sunrise and sunset are beautiful to view from the property lawns as they have a clear view of both the sides for now.

It’s one of the oldest property in mashobra but sadly has not kept its pace with the modern times and much smaller resorts next to it are doing a much better job in setting up the ambience and overall customer service.

I am a frequent traveler oversees and within India!! Every quarter I would travel to explore a new place with family or friends. We were in a group of 14 members and booked 7 rooms including all meals… service was pathetic and we had to request staff to please take our order… Rooms are really small compared to how it looks on website..
every time you change side during your sleep bed makes an irritating sound…
Wait staff was so rude, I asked them for some cookies along with evening tea and they refused…
Staff expected me to remember all our 7 room numbers.. I said everyone is coming and they will give respective room numbers, on this staff says sir aapko sab rooms ke numbers to yaad rakhne chaiye.

Overall small rooms, very uncomfortable beds, rude staff and equally arrogant front office people…

I have never seen such non helpful staff at any resort, beds were so uncomfortable that we decided to drive back on our second night and not sleeping here even though we paid for 2 nights…

Sharing video of what they call luxury suite..

Responded 19 Jun 2022
Dear Guest, Greetings!! Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to Koti Resorts. Our attempt at Koti Resorts is to constantly monitor the service standard and are very prompt in addressing any issues . We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. On taking a feedback from my staff and understanding the concern raised by you, I wish to humbly submit that our Deluxe Room sizes are not at small as mentioned by you. We are offering a total area of 290 sft and we clearly mention the same in our website. If the 8 inches spring mattresses have made you uncomfortable then we seriously have to look for alternates. You have been enjoying late night get-together of your group, time exceeding way past mid-night with loud music and drinks. If our staff requested you to stop the music so that the other in-house guests don't get disturbed, is no rude and arrogant behavior. (Thanks for damaging our Banquet Linen with your Hookas) You decided of your own to travel back by a night journey (on your coach), the way you came travelling overnight, so how come the blame on the uncomfortable beds, as no other guest have complained so far to us of a discomfort in sleep. It seems, as you decided to travel overnight, you asked for a Breakfast allowance too, which when regretted, the arrogant behavior of the front office staff is reported. Still, I deeply apologize for your stay experience and for not meeting some of your expectations during your visit. Please give us an opportunity to make amends, request you to kindly let me know whenever you will be visiting again to Koti Resorts, I will be happy to handle the arrangements personally. Thanks & Regards, Rajeev Ahuja
