Detailed Reviews
I must confess I stumbled upon Suro Treehouse online and got curious. I was looking to be away from the hustle bustle in nature and the pictures looked to suggest the same. The next thing that made me interested was the price point. It was not cheap but definitely looked reasonably priced for what it was offering.
So when I went there with my family, I went with high expectations. And to my surprise those expectations were surpassed. To start with the location was just superb. To add to it the chalets were built with minimal intrusion to the environment around. You literally felt you were inside the wilderness. The chirping of the birds everywhere amidst and strange quiet. The rooms were of simple yet tasteful design.
But what really made us feel at home was the hospitality. Mr Raman was a perfect host. Mild mannered, gentle demeanour, extremely accommodating, always available, extremely informative and helpful are just some of the many qualities I would attribute to him. The few issues in the room like shower clogging and room heating below expectations became non issues because of the grace and love with which he handled our stay.
And to top it all the delicious food we had for each meal just made the stay even more worth while. It all tasted like home cooked meals and not one at a restaurant. The staff was extremely courteous and polite. The outdoor sitting area was a such a pleasure, especially during breakfast.
Another wonderful aspect was the treks we were able to do around the property. So much activity in and around the property keeps you engaged.
All in all we had a wonderful stay and hope to visit Suro Treehouse again.

COVID 19: All the staff members took special care of COVID 19 precautions. No body was seen without a mask or without proper Sanitization.
Location: This resort is located at a very peaceful and quiet location which is great place to unwind yourself .There is nothing except trees, forest and greenery. Only the birds give you a musical company.
Infrastructure: The Wooden duplex cottages are very nice and go well with the green environment. The valley view is soothing . There is a badminton court along with table tennis facility. Board games are provided to spend time with family and kids.
Staff: Employees and Service was good ( Raman, Puneet , Dinesh along with the chefs made sure that our stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
Food: You can enjoy home cooked food which is not too spicy or fatty but is very tasty The response to our special recipes ( healthy food ) was quick. All the staff members talked fluently in English , hindi and punjabi.
Trek was arranged to the deep valley and a nearby waterfall ( it was least expected), strawberry fields, tomato fields in dense forest. This trek made our stay more enjoyable as even the kids could participate in the trek.
Overall , it was an enjoyable and relaxing trip.

Its a good place for a weekend getaway but try to visit in summer because winter is too cold and since these are essentially Non insulated small pinewood cabins, you will freeze to the bone. Even 2 heaters are completely ineffective.
Food is good tho the menu is limited. The Price is quite high for the services provided and is in roughly the same range as Cecil shimla, which is saying a lot. Staff is helpful and friendly. Linen and towels are clean and toiletries are of decent quality. The road leading to the resort is quite narrow and broken in places and needs to be better marked with signs leading to the property.
There's NO wifi in the rooms and airtel mobile signal is spotty, vodafone doesn't work.
Keep in mind it's not a luxury resort thus do not expect the same.
Overall good for some peace and quiet.

Pros: very peaceful and quiet. Great place to unwind with a book. Wooden duplex flat is highly recommended with nicely sunlit rooms. Service was good; and Dinesh, Puneet, Kuldeep and Raman were very responsive to our requests. Trek arranged by Suro is highly recommended.
Cons: food was very disappointing.

Nestled among trees without any civilization around for miles, Suro Treehouse Resort is a getaway with all kinds of services one can need. The food is homely and great, rooms are simple and the wooden construction lends an adventurous feel. Jinesh was a great guide for trekking but there are also trails one can wander off into on your own. There are a few sports activities, evening bonfires, but carry some games and books. The sights and sounds of the Shimla-Kalka train are mesmerizing.
Would visit again.

+1
This place is situated in Suro about an hour before Shimla. It’s situated in the valley and I think all the rooms have a mountain / forest view.
It has nice little wooden chalets (May be a little too little 😊 considering we were 4 of us including a baby and a dog) with a view into the valley. Our chalet was such that in the peak of winter we could see the sun rise to our left and set to our right.
The rooms are cosy with a balcony and decent amenities (Koehler bathroom fittings - not bad 😊)
It’s super windy around and they have wind chimes and you can continuously hear those along with the chirping of the various birds around.
The icing (literally) on the cake was that it snowed the night we were there and it raised the level of our stay by 1 notch.
Place serves decent food - buffet in breakfast and dinner which were both included in our package.
We ordered pizza and pasta for lunch on our arrival day and it wasn’t bad too. Woodfired pizzas was something which I wasn’t expecting may be 😊
Most importantly and the reason we were here was because it’s pet friendly.
My golden retriever had a good time around the property.
Would recommend this place for a weekend stay.

We checked in on the 2nd March for a night as later we had a booking for 2 nights at ITC Tavleen, in Chail …. We were 4 of us and frankly before reaching the property I had apprehensions as reviews were few, though good but scattered, the last review showing was December which made me skeptical. But since the moment I was coordinating with Mr. Raman, who absolutely diligently runs the show and was extremely proactive to reply to the smallest query on either email or what’s app, I knew things couldn’t be bad.
Now for the experience:
The Location:
Right in the middle of the jungle, far far away from the maddening crowd, traffic, noise and pollution (aren’t these the precise reasons we take a vacation) nestled @ 6 km downhill from the Shimla, Chandigarh Highway from Kandaghat, it’s slightly downhill, more like in between the top and the bottom of the mountains around, which is logically perfect as you get a perfect view from everywhere, you neither need to bend nor look up for a perfect view it’s right there. And inspite of it being in a jungle, we didn’t experience absolutely any pests or monkeys, all you can hear is birds chirping serenely.
The Property:
Amazingly well located with handpicked vantage points, view from rooms is to die for, you can even hear and see the toy Train run at a distance 😃, everything else is functional just the way it should be,nothing over the top, we were in a Duplex so that we could all be together, These are log houses, so not insulated, winters as we experienced can be a little too cold more so in the rooms below as you get coolness from below the tree house as well. The blunder here is that Air conditioner acts as a heating machine, which is great as it does work really well, the only glitch is it’s far far away from the bed rendering it ineffective, if they can relocate the same nearer to the bed then problem solved (I can say so as I belong to the HVAC industry)
There are plenty of activities like
Badminton
Table tennis
Board games
Bon fire etc
But personally for me just the Trek arranged and led by the local Staff Mr. Punit was the absolute highlight. Him being a local adds so much fun as he can describe everything from the Flora, fauna, terrain and local way of life.
The staff:
A team is always as good as it’s leader, Mr. Raman leads by example and understands what works best for the guests. All staff is local from a 30 km radius and hospitality in Himachal is legendary.
The Food:
Perfect and Basic, not too much variety, which personally works best, big surprise was the wood fire Pizza, absolutely amazing.

What a lovely property it was. Loved the entire 5 nights stay at this wonderful and serene property which is surrounded by forest. This was my first trip post lockdown and mr Raman ensured the safety and property and all chalets were well sanitized. Hospitality of the entire staff is commendable and special thanks to raman who ensured everything is taken care of. Lovely food as well with a view. Would love to visit again.

I went here with my wife on our mini honeymoon as we are native to Chandigarh, and stayed at this beautiful resort for a night. I must say that the service, amenities and overall experience was no less than a 5 Star Hotel. The Resort is situated in the interiors of Suro which is 20 kms before shimla.
It is absolutely mesmerising and so peaceful that even a drop of water can be heard clearly. The chalets are escalated around 20 feet above the ground level and will give you the perfect feeling of a tree house. Talking about the room interiors and upkeep, it is just magnificent and can't be compared with other hotels. We were initially booking The Oberoi but in the event of searching hotels found this lovely resort and booked it and after staying here we will anytime recommend this over The Oberois. Raman, the resort manager is an amazing gentleman and is a perfect example of a true hotelier who never says no for anything. Although we had booked through MMT, and had sudden changes in our plan in the last minute, this gentleman only said YES for everything we requested him. I'm pretty sure you won't find such flexibility in any other star hotel. Breakfast area and the delicious breakfast is a cherry on the cake. Rajkumar at the breakfast area takes utmost care of the quality service and is very particular on serving food at the right temperature.. Anuj escorted us till the room and gave proper room orientation which was very helpful. We will definitely visit this property in future and highly recommend others as well to stay here and enjoy the serene beauty of the valley, hills and jungles it surrounds. I must say its also people like Raman who make this place a Must Try, and this property has a lot in store for its business in the future as well, thanks to the wonderful product and the people working for it.

We visited Suro Treehouse after reading its raving reviews. While the location and rooms live up to the hype, the management absolutely does not. ALL the said activities (short and long treks, cycling, bon fire) are paid. They are also subject to the presence of a certain number of people. Since there was only one other family in the resort during our stay, we were left with playing board games in the room and going for a walk around the property ourselves. After paying a hefty sum for a night, one does expect some basic activities included in the price. We were hoping our stay at Suro would be similar to the warm experience and management we experienced at Rakkh Resort (Palampur) and Prakriti Aalay (Dharamshala) on our last Himachal vacation, which are both offbeat resorts. However, the overall arrangements do not even come close. This place has great potential if customer experience is given preference over extracting money from them.
The food deserves a mention - it was surprisingly palatable.

they have their own pet dog also
I think they should.
better you write them, they are quick with emails.
cheers
No , they don't have such lawns
You can visit anytime. The charges are same throughout the year. So don't think for the price get reduced.
Yes, Roopa D has correctly said that if you are interested in enjoying the nature closely then this is the place for you. However if you are interested in walking around mall road all the day then look for a hotel in city. We stayed there as we were having our own vehicle with us. Shimla road is crowded and may take 40 to 50 minutes while going. Though coming back after 10 pm would take just 20 minutes.
