This is a small family run hotel in the Karol Bagh. The location is great in terms of lots of great places to eat and drink near by and it felt safe to be walking around. The owner and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and the food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably price. We sat out for drinks on the terrace that had just been refurbished and it was very pleasant up there. The standard rooms are typical of what we have come to expect on Intrepid tours (basic but clean). We laughed when we walked into reception to see a sign about hot water only being available in the morning. However some rooms now have their own geezer and if you asked the hotel switched on the hot water if you wanted a shower in the afternoon. The first floor rooms have been refurbished and it is clear that the rest of the hotel is slowly being refurbished too. Our room was spacious with a refurbished wet room. On the whole we would say our room and fixtures and fitting could do with updating, towels and bed linen are a little worn but clean, and rooms were cleaned everyday . It was good that there was a safe in the room for valuables and a fridge for drinks, the WiFi was good in all spaces too. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Overall a reasonably priced hotel with lovely staff and standard amenities. Would recommend it to others particularly as the staff were so lovely.

Though the hotel itself is rather basic (clean, safe, comfortable etc), it’s rating is much approved due to the helpfulness and accommodating nature of the staff. They went out of their way to help us with recommendations, directions, arranging a driver at reasonable prices, even escorting us to ATM and on day trips. We had a long wait before a late departure to the airport and they were kind enough to give us day use of a room with no charge.

We would definitely recommend this place as a great place to use as a base when transporting through Delhi.

I first stayed at Pooja Palace back in 2014 when it was the starting place for an Intrepid Travel tour I had booked. From that first stay I have booked into Pooja Palace whenever I have returned to Delhi, and that has been numerous times as I visit India for months at a time and Delhi is a good starting and finishing point for many tours and other tourist activities. The staff are helpful, informative and friendly, and the rooms are very comfortable for a budget-priced hotel, with all of the amenities that I ever need. Great wifi, which is essential for me.
Pooja Palace is only a few metres from Karol Bagh market, and less than a 5 minute walk to the Metro, so it is very convenient for shopping, exploring etc.
I have booked in again for my last night in India in 10 weeks time, as I am always happy to return to Pooja Palace.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel as part of our Intrepid Travel tour and it was pretty bad. We arrived late afternoon, which meant the Karol Bagh markets were pumping and our van was unable to get through the volumes of people. Our driver locked us in the car while he went to try and find where it was and came back 15 mins later with hotel staff. Note to those travelling there - arrive in the morning before the markets really kick off, otherwise you will be lugging your belongings on foot through crowded markets.

We stayed here twice on our Intrepid tour, and our first room was nothing short of disgusting - fridge was broken, heater barely took the edge off the room, only a couple of coat hangers, dirty bathroom, stains all over the sheets, minimal bedding, etc. Because we were there in the height of winter we froze our butts off, as the blankets weren't particularly warm. The second room was at least clean, but same situation with fridge, heater and blankets.

The staff were also incredibly unaccommodating, they charged us 30 rupees to use the hot water for tea, and it turns out the water was murky so we couldn't even drink it. When we raised the fact that the water was undrinkable and we didn't want to pay 30 rupees they let it go, but then hit us up on checkout and made us pay. Similarly, even getting something as simple as more toilet paper was a nightmare and required us to ask 3 times at the front desk.

To call this hotel 'boutique' or family run is disengenious and misleading. It has the air of run down establishment, badly needing some love and attention. The rooms are not presented properly, I had a wardrobe with a someone else's shirt left behind but no coat hangers, a dirty fridge, no TV service, grey towels, 2 chairs that couldn't really fit in the room and a useless glass table which I had to move to get access to the fridge. Bedding is basic and there is absolutely no finishing touches. It's basic and probably reflected in the price, so as long as you are aware of standard them it's OK. The staff are polite but appear more like a mixed bunch of doormen, it's not obvious who is actually employed there or who is just hanging around. I'm a little surprised it's used as a tour base - it's not an especially nice area and only plus is close to Karol Bagh metro. There are no bar or restaurant facilities, hot drinks are from a vending machine. Such a pity as there is a roof terrace which could be very nice and with some attention and investment in bathrooms it could be vastly improved.

We stayed here as part of our tour with Intrepid. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for any additional time outside the dates booked for your tour. The cleanliness isn’t the greatest, but it wasn’t the worst we experienced (there were no bugs!). There were things like dirty towels still in the room when we checked in, hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor, and spills all over the walls in the rooms and hallways. Oh, there was also a chunk of mold in my coffee, I’m sure it fell from the machine so I don’t fault the server at all, but again, it speaks to the lack of cleanliness. All that aside, I think the worst part was not being able to get the essentials, such as toilet paper or a towel, without tipping. For example, we had a gentleman hold our toilet paper ransom, refusing to hand it over until he received a tip. It is funny now, but when you need to go, it isn’t so much lol. The same gentleman later returned with a kettle we didn’t ask for and asked for a tip, then towels we didn’t ask for, etc. I’m sure you know what I’m saying, and no, we didn’t keep tipping him, he was just trying everything he could. Furthermore, when we tried booking a taxi through the hotel, they instead called a friend who showed up in his own car and then collectively, they attempted to charge us a fee on top of the taxi fare.
The pluses about the hotel, overall the staff were kind and friendly, the sheets were clean, and hot water was available on request (give it about 30 min though). I also didn’t mind the neighbourhood. Everything you need is within walking distance from here.
The point of all this, stay here for as little time as possible if you can, there are tons of hotels you can stay in both before and after your tour that are far superior.
Happy travels everyone!

This is a budget hotel, which I felt was below any decent standard. Hot water is not a normality as you have to ask to have it switched on, but worked fine once heated. The beds were comfortable but the pillow case hid a very scanky dirty pillow. The towels were grey and scratchy but smelt clean. The fan was in working order but only setting, full blast and super noisy. The aircon was not an option as it held layers of dust in the panels. I thought I was blessed with a fridge, till I opened it! A ghastly smell emanated from it, but once turned on and sprayed it was bearable.
On a good note the hotel staff were accommodating once you break the communication barrier.
A tip to be had, always pay immediately for any food or service so there's no dispute at the end of your stay.
Street food and limited restaurants available nearby.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights before my trip with Intrepid and two nights after. It’s the perfect middle class hotel to stay at. As a solo female traveler I felt like the staff looked after me when I first arrived to make sure I knew how to navigate the city before I linked up with my tour, which I greatly appreciated! The food was good, the staff were fantastic, especially Mandeep Singh who bent over backwards to get me everything that I could’ve wanted. They have a cute little patio on the roof so you have a place to sit in the evenings and the Wi-Fi is fantastic on every single floor! Which is not the case in most hotels. I had a very late flight and the staff let me leave my bags in the office after check out while I went and did one last shopping trip before my flight. Had to make sure I left all my rupees in country! It is close to shopping, food, temples, and all forms of transportation. Will stay again when I return!

Don't judge a book by it's cover. When I arrived late at night, it looks scary down a cul-de-sac. But once inside, all worries vanished. The room is basic with an overhead fan/ aircon, wifi and ensuite and comfortable. It is right in the middle of the market, which I found really great, so I could buy snacks etc. I stayed for four days, before and after an Intrepid travel trip and found the staff really helpful and caring. For example, I had booked another little tour around Delhi with a company, and Aalam (the receptionist) made sure to get the phone number of the guy who came to pick me up, after which he said to me that it was ok to go with the driver. I felt so looked after.

I was traveling with a tour group otherwise I would never subject my self to this accommodation. My Uber gave up trying to reach the hotel because of the narrow streets and traffic leading up to the Pooja. I was dropped two blocks away. Checkin is posted for 12 noon but when I arrived at 3:30 no room was not ready until 4:30pm. My reservation was for a non smoking room but I was checked into a smoking room, I immediately could smell the cigarette stench and noted the ash tray on the table. Not to worry the housemen snatched the ash tray and came back to spritz the room with air freshener. Hardly my idea of a non smoking room. I tried to bare it for a few hours. The shower was so dirty there was clumps of hair and black mold. And the shower glass was so dirty it was clouded with filmy residue. The towels were sticky and hard. No hot water that evening, had to manage with some cold splashes. I was traveling with 8 others and they all had similar complaints and concerns about the Pooja Palace. No body wanted to stay!

Hello - is the hotel able to offer an airport pick up and how do I organise this?
Answer from Amanda S

Hi! They will call you a taxi if you'd like. In my experience in India, most of the hotels have a driver that they use. You can just call and ask them. I do suggest using uber though. It was cheaper and easier! It cost around $5 USD to go from Delhi airport to Pooja Palace

After a massive fire engulfed the Armpit Palace Hotel on the 12th February resulting in 17 deaths, the Delhi government suspended the licences of a large number of budget hotels in Karol Bagh, including the Pooja Palace, for fire safety violations. Apparently, hotels are being progressively re-opened as they rectify safety issues and are re-inspected.

I’ve been to India several times and here in this hotel also - and am back this weekend for another intrepid trip. Prepay your taxi at airport - they can take cards & used to take GB£ - then you can use an ATM nr hotel ( there are lots) or take £’s with you as lots of exchange facilities in India
