Beautiful building but that’s as far as it goes. You pay a lot of money to stay in this hotel but we did not think we got value for money. The restaurant food was not good and very overpriced. The younger staff were lovely but older staff seemed more interested in getting as much money out of you as possible and seemed to treat people according to how much they spent. Rooms nice but nothing special, no complimentary fruit and had to ask for refills of water. The most worrying thing though is the location, down very narrow dark side streets in very poor area. No taxi or tuk tuk can get to the hotel so you have to walk. At night, the alley ways are very dark and filled with rats and human excrement. There are no nearby restaurants so unless you hire a guide (expensive from hotel), you will be stuck. Would not recommend to solo or female travellers to walk around at night, I’m a very seasoned traveller with 50+ countries under my belt but even I didn’t feel safe. Lots of young children aggressively begging too. Easy to get lost and no way of jumping in cab to get back. Finally, charges of things like airport transfers. A taxi to airport should be 600 to max 1000 rupees yet hotel charges 4000 rupees! Have stayed at amazing hotels in India all considerably cheaper and all providing far better hospitality and value for money than this one. Would not recommend.

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay at this gem of a hotel. Its tucked out of the way but well worth the walk down narrow streets to get there. . In properly in the heart of Delhi. Wonderful building and room. Staff were all amazingly helpful and couldn't do enough. Rohit and Himanshu were very attentive in the restaurant. I can not recommend this wonderful hotel enough.

The staff is very attentive and eager to please. Mohit and Himanshu in particular. The hotel is in a very charming and interesting building. We enjoyed walking in the surrounding neighborhood. It’s crowded and hectic but very interesting.

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. We had multiple items stolen from us by staff, including a kindle, and the hotel blasted music from a speaker immediately outside of our room and refused to turn it down even when we requested they do so. The location is not accessible with car, which would have been fine if not for the other issues. The room was small and the restaurant was overpriced.

+1
The heritage of this haveli is celebrated throughout the property, and they are rightly proud of the work they have done to bring the property back to life. The view from the roof terrace across Delhi, taking in the Jama Masjid mosque is spectacular, especially when the locals are flying their pigeons and kites in the evening. Due to the nature of the design of this heritage property, the doors and windows provide little protection from the outside world, so with Delhi’s current pollution issues it is difficult to escape the outside environment which may prove uncomfortable for anyone with breathing difficulties. We also found prices a little higher than we had been used to in other areas of India, especially at the ‘bar’.

The most amazing oasis in the madness of Delhi. It’s situated on the outskirts of a dirty slum area but as soon as you walk through the doors you are transported back in time to the era of the Raj. It has been lovingly restored to its former glory and nothing has been forgotten. The staff are very attentive in the nicest way possible, the food top quality and the rooms are beautifully appointed. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom has everything you need. The rooftop area has a lovely view and you can sit there have a drink and hear the call to prayer while watching the sunset. You can fly kits from there as well and can see the sun bounce off the minerets of the nearby mosque. A fabulous experience and one we would highly recommend.
