Yes, they allow that. They won't ask, but if they ask simply state that you are married. In India it is not a problem. Most taxi drivers out of friendliness will ask whether you are good friends or married. And it is most convenient to reply that you are married. But as a tourist most' rules' don't apply to you. My advice would be to travel together. We had a 3 week backpacking through Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan and it was perfectly safe. Only my shoes got stolen at one of the temples which was also a good laugh. Have a fun and safe trip!
