We recently spent three nights at the Hotel Vikram and had a wonderful time. Rooms were spotless and comfortable, an ideal refuge after a day of sightseeing -- furnishings were new and tasteful, shower and bathroom extraordinarily clean, and traffic noise minimal. Service was impeccable, from the front desk to the travel desk and hotel drivers to the very efficient room service. Breakfast was also quite good, with a good selection of continental and Indian specialities. Convenient location too. Great value, excellent hotel!

My husband and I were doing the Golden Triangle tour and the first hotel we stayed at was the Vikram. The hotel was lovely, in a traditional style and our room was freshly decorated and had a flat screen t.v. and a nice bathroom. We had booked bed and breakfast. The breakfast was buffet style. I had a delicious Masala Dosa. There was a good selection of stuff, including Western breakfast options. The hotel staff were all very nice and did their best to make sure you had a comfortable stay. I loved the location of the hotel because it was beside the Metro. On the first night, having had a guided tour of the city during the day, we ventured out on the Metro. You have to buy tokens from a booth and the price is dependent on where in the system you are going. It's similar to the Paris metro and is very easy to use. I would love to go back to Dehli as it's a beautiful city, and I would love to return to the Hotel Vikram.

In Delhi you can either spend $200 plus for a luxury hotel, or take a risk at the lower ranges and hope for the best. We wanted the Ambassador which is very centrally located but they were booked, so we tried Hotel Alka- bad choice- don't stay there!!
In the morning we packed our bags and went searching for something better and ended up at Hotel Vikram in Lajpat Nagar. It's about 20 min or so from Connaught, etc, but close to the Lotus Temple and other sites, and Greater Kailash which has great shopping and restaurants, as well as the Lajpat Nagar market which is very good, much better prices then downtown.

The hotel has recently been refurbished so the carpets and rooms are new and very nice, and the bathroom was small but nicely done, even better than the Taj Mahal bathrooms. The staff was very kind and helpful and we were thrilled to find it after our terrible experience at Alka.

Not good for wondering around outside, but good for a safe haven after an intense day in the city. It's clean, nice, and friendly, and not too far from the airport (always depending on traffic)

Old, dirty, no atmosphere. Drinks not allowed outside; not allowed to take to the room, pay for Internet. No certainly not a place to return to. Breakfast horrible. Needs a huge renovation and replacement of full staff.

My wife and I stayed at the Vikram hotel twice during April 2006. It is described as a 4 star hotel but is no better than a very average 3 star hotel. The rooms were O.K. (television, air conditioning etc) but hot water was temperamental and twice I had to take a cold shower. Buffet breakfast was rather bland and the options limited. Hotel bar was small and pokey but the drinks and snacks were well priced. Check in was efficient but not very friendly. On the plus side the hotel was clean and safe and was conveniently located close to the Locus Temple, Qutb Minar and the South Extension Markets. Overall not a bad place to stay as long as you are not paying 4 star rates

Although rated as 4-star in India, this was definitely not a 4-star hotel. The staff was quick with check-in, but the floor lobbies & rooms had old carpet, which smelled stale and bad. Plenty of hot running water (which leaked through the standup shower door onto the entire bathroom floor), but bed mattresses were old & lumpy. Wouldn't recommend or stay here again.

I had a comfortable stay at the Vikram, Delhi. Hotel is situated in Lajpat Nagar, just off the Ring Road which is the main arterial road of Delhi, making it easier to travel around. Although the immediate surroundings doesn't have much to offer.

The lobby is bit on the smaller side but adequate seating is available for it's size. Check-in was fast but not very friendly.
Room was adequate in size for a hotel in this class. Bed was comfortable and TV had most of the cable channels. Bathroom was good. The window didn't offer much of a view.

Breakfast was good and plentiful. Breakfast area was pretty neat and it also had a large Plasma display. Service was okay.

Overall, a good experience though the hotel is more of 3 star class rather than 4 star as it claims to be.

Room was clean and comfortable enough, but bathroom window had no screen and was covered by some sort of tarp from the outside! Neighborhood is not nice, not a place to be walking around. Service was adequate. Even though proximity to major tourist sites is good on the map, it took a long time to get to anything.

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with the most rude female receptionist I have ever encountered after travelling 30 countries and staying in hundreds of hotels. Absolutely dismissive, arrogant and rude for absolutely no reason at all. This was not a lack of manners, this was deliberate and directed rudeness towards us and I have no idea what her problem was.

I wanted to check out from the moment I sat down at the check-in desk.

To add to this, there were no locks on the windows in the room. Anyone could have climbed in to the room from the balcony below. Our room key was deactivated while we went out for dinner.

There were a few issues, which to be honest usually I would normally overlook as no hotel is perfect, however I cannot overlook deliberate rudeness from people for no apparent reason. Especially when we are expecting to be greeted and welcomed into a hotel as guests.

Arriving into the hotel after dinner in the evening there were about 6 staff members standing around in the lobby, nobody smiled, everyone just stared directly at us speechless. No friendliness whatsoever.

On a positive note, the man who helped us with our bags to the room was the opposite - a really nice and friendly person.

We had booked this hotel at the last minute as we were doing business close by the hotel and were dealing with generator suppliers in the area for shipment back to Nepal.

We have now moved to another hotel in the area where the staff are trained in basic manners.

This hotel gets it right on most counts. The location is convenient, the Metro station is right across the hotel, the reception is courteous and most auto drivers know the hotel which is a blessing in Delhi. In addition it is located very near the Central market, Lajpat Nagar which is a shopper's paradise. We stayed in a double room with a king sized bed and a very spacious bathroom. The rooms had been done up recently and were large enough to move about. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and well lit. The staff was very well trained. The breakfast was amazing with a lot of variety and filling. The timings for the breakfast cater to the early riser and the late ones as well. There is a good mix of Indian and continental. I would stay here again and also recommend it to everyone.
