A little hard to find (the street numbers are a bit quirky and the signage isn't great...look for the vetrinarian signs), but well worth the minor trouble. I REALLY enjoyed this place for two full weeks. At least one nice sunny balcony & there's also a nice terrace with chairs and tables (once you get past the machinery). CLEAN, spartan, but the more you look, the more the lovely design touches emerge. The owner and desk people are very NICE and speak good English. No TV at all, but WiFi in the private and common rooms. Small restaurant with a limited but tasty and affordable menu that changes day to day (if you want to buy your own food, make arrangements with the cook for him to fix it for you). No elevator, so let them know in advance that you'll need help up and down the…
If you plan to stay in Delhi and are looking for an affordable and comfortable place, this is it ! Located in a nice and safe neighbourhood, the guesthouse is very clean and comfortable. Dormitory and rooms are available, some rooms with private bath. Fans and ACs are there, (hot) water as well. There is a rooftop to chill out, weather allowing. Wifi and breakfast are included, you can also order meals at a very affordable price. The staff is friendly and helpful. 10 mn walking distance from the metro station (Kailash Colony) and close to markets. Only con: traffic makes it a bit noisy.
Pros: Arranged arrival/departure transfer. Booked train tickets Soft comfortable bed- a rarity in India it seems. Lovely and obliging staff Nice breakfast Excellent chai Hot water and good water pressure. Cons: Bring earplugs Drainage in bathroom not so great.
Good staff, felt room was clean, hot water worked, as did WiFi. Creepy alley leading up to place and then a dark staircase going up to reception. Totally charmless. Nonetheless, a good pick for people on a very tight budget.
Very suitable to start a trip in India. People are very kind, helpful. The breakfast is very good and the room is very pleasant (everything is clean and hot water is good !). Even if it is located on a touristic place of Delhi, the area is well fitted with restaurants (block M) and with shops and metro at Kailash Colony (10min by foot).
We loved staying at Bed and Chai! It is a well-run and peaceful haven amid the hustle bustle of Delhi. The location is not central to Delhi's main tourist attractions, but is a short taxi ride or (even better, in my opinion) a short 5 minute walk from a metro station. The bonus to being less central is that the surrounding streets are definitely a little more peaceful. We slept well each night and our room was clean and well-kept, with a lovely balcony off one side. Breakfast each morning was simple but delicious (their coffee is good and strong!) and meals can be ordered at other times of day if requested, although we chose to explore the city and eat elsewhere. The staff was friendly and helped us on more than one occasion with recommendations and travel plans. Thank you!
Bed and Chai is a wonderful guest house in South Delhi. I enjoyed staying here a as solo female traveller. It is a good getaway from the 'full-on-ness' that is Delhi but all tourist attractions and other places can easily be reached by tuk-tuk, taxi or Metro. There are also shops and restaurants in walking distance or a short tuk-tuk ride away. The rooms and common areas are decorated individually with some quirky objectives and designs. There is a rooftop as well as two balconies for relaxing and watching the world go by. Breakfast is great (yummy fruit bowl and real jam for your toast), and you can order dinner and lunch if you want - it will be cooked from scratch by Moses, the Chef. Of course, Chai is always available. I stayed in two different standard rooms which were…
A peaceful guesthouse in Delhi, with great furniture, big rooms and balconies. The breakfast is really good with fresh fruits and all the ingredients are fresh and organic. The guesthouse is cosy and feels like home ! I definitely recommend also for long stays.
We looked for a place for one night before our flight back home, and this place was perfect for our needs. This area is the one of the top areas in New Delhi... forget about all the littering and the noise from the main bazar area. You can find fancy restaurants and shops in a 5 minute distance walk. The rooms were really clean and well designed. The breakfast was really good too. I admit the main disadvantage for us was that this place cost us 3 times the budget we used to spend on Guesthouses in India.
