Before arriving at the Ashok hotel I noted some negative reviews. This was not my experience. The hotel staff were universally polite and helpful. The rooms were generous in size although had some eccentric electrical circuitry. Internet was patchy but the hotel IT specialists were always available to help out at any time of the day or night. The rooms were clean, and comfortable, although I struggled to turn up the chilled air conditioning. The food was really excellent and there was a nice bar for evening drinks. Some of the facilities were under renovation and not therefore available. All in all a nice hotel with the benefit of being next to an attractive park for jogging and walking.

The staff at reception is very non cooperative.. they are hard on minting money. On availability of room also they insisted for paying half day amount at 10.30 am. Told me to contact lobby manager but before i could walk to him 10 steps ,the fellow from reception itself called the lobby manager and told him to ask money for early check in.. They all cook their own stories and talk among ears of each other. Very unethical behavior.. despite bad staff at reception everything is good. ..nice ambiance good hospitality at coffee shop.

Staying at the Ashok is like going back in time. Now, can't really say if that's such a wonderful feeling but it has its own character. It does feel like a place that has seen much better days. There isn't anything wrong with the Hotel even now but it just looks a little rusted. The staff however is polite and helpful and the rooms are large and well maintained. The carpets in the corridors though might be better suited to be exhibited in a museum. The property does need a bit of grooming, otherwise it's a classic hotel in the heart of the city.

We were visiting New Delhi to attend Family wedding, I have called the Hotel Guest relations, talked to Mr. Avinash Chandra on the phone. He was very informative gave us detailed information about all the room options, we were party of three, so suggested to get executive room. Which was upgraded to Executive suite(Very comfortable for us). Initially we booked this hotel for 4 days. After arriving to the hotel every one from front doorman to bell boy to front desk person valued us as family and not as a guest. After arriving to the Hotel 2:00AM in morning after long flight, check in was very smooth and bellboy delivered our luggage and walked us through rooms, light switch functions bathroom hot and cold water faucets. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were very well decorated, small fruit basket and gourmet cookies were delicious, complimentary bottled water.
The morning breakfast had so many varieties that it was puzzling to what to choose. Made to order omelets and Dosa were delicious. Masala Tea was better then home.
during our visit Arunacha Pradesh special weekend was going on, the Audh restaurant had Lunch special. the food was mouthwatering good, so many varieties. The manager himself came to us and explained to us all Arunachal food delicacies. also there was small folk dance and entertainment program too. Only
problem not too many guest had visited.
We liked the hotel so much that we had initially booked our room for only 4 days, but we extended to full week, and that was very gladly done.
I personally thank, Mr Avinash Chandra, Mr Rajendra and Ms Goonj to make our stay very pleasant.
The only down side if I had is the Internet service. This is very nice 5 Star centrally located in New Delhi, were many diplomats stays. they should improve internet services. every night we had a problem getting the connection. the password works only 24-48 hrs and then we have to get new password. when I was talking to the front desk (In person) several other people had the same complaints. Why you cant provide Better High Speed Internet Service? that is beyond me. 1mbps is regular and 4mbps is the high speed. we stayed in some other small hotel in Panjab and their internet speed was 100Mbps and no shut down at middle of the night.
At last over all our stay was very pleasant.
I highly recommend this hotel, if you are visiting New Delhi. Many attractions are close by.

One of the worst hotels ever visited. Can’t be even rated as One Star god knows how they got a five star rating. Dirty carpets on each floor, dirty curtains and bed covers. Torn sofas and chairs. Incompetent managers and staff in the Coffee Shop who need a serious lesson in hospitality. And to top it up the Chef didn’t even know how to make a veg sweet corn soup. First was given Room number 336 which had dirty carpets, dirty curtains and torn sofas. Then given 404 which was equally worse. Aren’t these people even bothered. Staff were wearing ill fitting and dirty uniforms in the coffee shop. State of the buffet seemed like it was done Swaach India Campaign needs to start from here. Been told this is under the Ministry of tourism. If they are spending money then some one needs to audit. Looking at this pathethic state was truly shocking

Namesake Hotel...a sarai will serve you better
Issue 1: broken thermostat in the room. Informed hotel, 2 guys worked on it for good 30minutes plus but the issue was undersolved. We had to keep the windows open to ensure temperature control. No offer was made by the hotel to change rooms
Issue 2: no hot water in bathroom. Informed hote, a guy worked on it for more than an hour. Hot water was restored post 11pm at night. No offer was made to swap rooms to get us comfortable or rested; we were the ones left to discuss the repair with the technician
Issue 3: no ironbox or ironing board in the room (unlike as listed on their website). Please note, i was in a suite kinda room. When requested for one at 6am in the morning, i was asked to go to the ironing room on my floor. On repeating the request twice, the guy on other side of the phone realized he needs to send one to my room. The iron box leftblack particles all over the ironing board
Issue 4: one of the bedroom walls for full of mold. I saw this after the episode of broken thermostat and geyser repair. Was exhuasted to take this up next as it was already close to midnight and i had a 8:30am meeting the next day. However, i called the duty manager in the morning to have him come and look at both issue 3 and 4. Again, no offer to change rooms or even a meaningful apology
I was booked to stay for 2 days but checked out of the hotel after day 1. When i informed of my decision to checkout, i got a call from someone in the customer experience team to inquire about my experience LOL
Lastly, i requested my booking partner for a refund but that was refused by the hotel. Be cautious before you venture out to 'The Ashok'

The worst 5 star hotel, unfortunately everything during my stay was disappointing. I will never recommend to anyone. However, you may visit the night club Lithiyim, it's fun and lively. The only advantage of this hotel is the location, it's nearby most of the country's embassy.

The worst experience in Delhi. Yes the staffs are amazing to handle your query, comfort and request but the management & Maintenance of the property are in at most poor condition . During a week long conference almost all of the colleagues had complaints like this. Some had seepage from top of their main door, some suite had issue in drawing room seepage issue and some near the closet. We faced the severe seepage issue in our closet area and all over bathroom ceiling. It really yucks to see and stay in such condition when you are paying not less than a penny the hotel web page or MMT page have displayed for your stay. Pathetic Maintenance ruined the whole experience of stay.
Stay here at your own risk.
Surely why we can't trust anything which promoted by Indian Tourism dept.

The entrance and architecture of the property is nice but the service is pathetic. It’s because employees think they are government employees so there is no service provided, I would never stay in this hotel. They almost spilled coffee on me and rooms have smoky air, AC doesn’t work, no clean bedsheets and pillows. Bathroom smells like urine all over. Terrible terrible place to stay.

I'm lost for words on how to describe this dump. Poorly run government hotel which has the feel (attitude of staff) to 1970s India. How this place is classed 5 star is beyond me. Terrible room dirty and smelly, no bedside charging points, tiny TV and shockingly bad furniture. Breakfast was equally bad and for God's sake don't visit during wedding season unless you want to be kept awake all night by the endless noise. Please please please avoid
