The Ambassador, New Delhi - IHCL SeleQtions garners accolades for its exceptional service, with staff members providing a warm welcome and personalized attention. Its cozy and inviting atmosphere harmoniously blends traditional elegance with modern convenience, making for a homely stay. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel offers easy access to South Delhi's attractions and is a stone's throw away from Khan Market.
Although the spacious rooms are admired for their historic charm, some guests suggest they could benefit from refurbishments. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently praised, as is the variety of amenities, including the praised breakfast spread and pet-friendly policies. Opinions on value are mixed; while some guests find the dining options on the pricier side, others feel the heritage experience justifies the cost.

Detailed Reviews
Ambassador, New Delhi is now our favourite, go-to hotel to stay at in Central Delhi. What really stands out for us every time is the thoughtful hospitality, courteous and friendly staff that makes us feel at home. Here, I am delighted to mention the hospitality and service of Navraj Bhandhari, Suraj, Apoorva, Lakpa and Chef Shiva at Yellow Brick Door. We especially enjoyed the South Indian food, fresh juices and Danish pastries offered at breakfast. Even when we visit the hotel after months, the staff recollects and remembers us as hotel regulars, which is touching and makes our stay feel personalised.
Our room, which was a suite, was comfortable and we managed to get two good night's sleep in the room. In our experience, the housekeeping, guest services and reception staff are also prompt and helpful.
My family and I are always left feeling happy and satisfied after a stay/weekend at Ambassador.

The Ambassador Hotel is a perfect choice to start out of visit to New Delhi. Located in a wonderful safe walking area close to Lodi Gardens and with easy access to getting too many places one will want to visit. Even when I was driving very late at night 2 AM, coffee and tea or champagne was offered. The rooms were comfortable, clean, with many amenities and excellent bed and bedding. Every room is offered a fresh plate of fruit that comes with shortbread and a knife for at a wonderful snack or late night treat. Nicely chosen minibar treats and drinks. Slippers and robes available Along with high quality towels and a a solid shower. As a woman who with a disability I found the nightlights exceptional, wonderful ways to create simple places to function easily. The television is great and can be easily seen from both the bed and sitting area.
But the highlight again was the service! Ram the housekeeper would hurry to get the elevator button and he saw me coming towards. I never walked past a house keeper, maintenance person or front office staff and ask if I needed something. It truly was a wonderful introduction to New Delhi

Stayed here for 5 days for business need. The rooms in the 1st and 2nd floors are non-renovated rooms. The rooms in 3rd and 4th floors have been renovated since the Taj group takeover. My room in the 2nd floor was huge! I personally liked the non-renovated rooms more than the renovated ones as they were much bigger and had an old world charm.
Breakfast was excellent. In this COVID era, they did not set up buffet food was served at table based on the items requested. The selection wasn't huge but the the taste was really good.
The hotel is located at a stone throw distance from Khan Market (a very upscale market in Delhi, so obviously very expensive), so your food and shopping needs will be taken care of. The nearest metro station is also walkable. The famous Lodhi Garden is also located nearby.
The only problem is that each floor is huge. There are too many rooms in a floor and some are very far from the stairs/elevator. It sometimes felt like a maze and chances are that you might even lose yourself trying to find the elevator from your room!

Stayed at The Ambassador for three nights and found the experience to be disappointing. First with the positive, the location is very convenient and the housekeeping staff is delightful, attentive and cannot do enough for guests. Unfortunately, the hotel is old, tired and creepy. The bathroom fixtures are rusty, the bedroom windows do not seal completely causing Delhi’s stale air to permeate the room and the heating in the room we stayed in did not work. They brought us a plug-in heater with frayed cables that seemed hazardous forcing us to settle for two additional blankets. The breakfast seemed chaotic with slow service and limited choices. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Whenever I visit Delhi (and it has been innumerable times in the past two decades) I always stay at this hotel. In fact, it has become our home away from home for me and my family. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city, within easy reach of sightseeing venues, shopping malls, and the Metro. However, what transcends all these amenities, is its old-world charm and the courtesy of its staff. Everyone, regardless of hierarchy, are unfailingly polite and helpful. They go out of their way to assist in every way possible, in a respectful and pleasant manner. “Service with a smile” seems to have been especially coined for this Taj Group property. Muskan, at the Reception Desk, is a case in point. She is super efficient and pleasantly helpful to one and all. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and maintained to the strictest level of hygiene. The housekeeping staff, efficiently managed by Vijay Lakshmi, make sure that all needs are met. The food served in the Yellow Brick Road and Larry’s China is varied and of the highest quality. And again, the staff bend over backwards to ensure one’s comfort and eating experience. All in all, I can’s say enough in praise of this hotel.

So we are staying at the hotel right now and Delhi is still cold in the evenings/nights. We enter the hotel to a cold reception where we sat freezing till the check ok took place.
Then we went to our room which is a refurbished suite and that too was cold. The central air does not heat the room! That is the first time I’ve heard of such a notion at a Taj property! When we called the reception they said they would send up an oil heater! I felt I’ve come to stay at some relatives house and not a luxury chain of hotels.
And then said heater made the lights trip at 11pm and then again at 6.45am. We are very disappointed and feel a little cheated by these events. We have a 3 year old and would never have booked the hotel knowing the rooms don’t heat up. I feel this is something their website should CLEARLY mention.
However, I would like to mention that through all this the hotel staff has been amazing and trying to fix the problems that are obviously not their doing. This is one for the higher management to solve ASAP.

Dear Guest, Greetings from Ambassador, New Delhi! I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you on account of the service lapse as indicated. I have addressed the matter with the concerned department and have taken all corrective measures to obviate reoccurrence. Do kindly treat this as a one-off aberration on our part and not a mark of the hospitality that we are known for. Trust this lone incident in no way would dilute your otherwise favorable opinion of Ambassador. The team looks forward to your return again and we will make sure you carry back better memories of your stay with us. Kind regards, Vikas Parimoo General Manager Ambassador, New Delhi

This is one place where each individual executes their responsibilities with a tenacious focus on perfection.
From the very moment you arrive at the hotel's porch to the time you are ready to depart for your next destination, you will remain fascinated by the high standards of hospitality exhibited by each and every official around.
You can't miss Mr Rana, the tall gentleman in black suit, who is always ready to render support and resolve any minor concern you may have.
In all certain ways, the F&B team lead by Mr Bedi and Mr Sanjeev, the executive chef would ensure to tantalise your taste buds with their delicacies.
Special mention to some of the stalwarts of this hotel, who left an everlasting impression about the attitude which should get replicated across the hospitality industry, worldwide;
Front office team members Muskaan and Jaspreet donning that beautiful warm smile whenever you interact irrespective to the part of day,
F&B team members at The Yellow Brick Road restaurant namely Apoorva, Lakpa, Meghna, Suraj and Naresh at Larry's China restaurant, who would leave no stone unturned to ensure that you have the most fulfilling dining experience ever.
House keeping team led by Mr Naresh and Ashish ensuring your room remains inviting and habitable,
Security team led by Mr Ravi Bhan and Mr Sumit ensuring that not only you but your belongings are secured during your stay.
It is such rare touches which makes any experience, a memorable one !

Exceptional service from check in to check out. We arrived rather late at night and were pleasantly surprised to learn Yellow Brick Road was still serving food. The room was spacious with a large balcony overlooking the fountains in the restaurant and the bathroom was stunning. The neighborhood traffic was very quiet during sleeping hours. Having the nearby Khan Market with tons of restaurants and cafes to choose from was a bonus, and the price points at these places was much lower than in the hotel itself. All security personnel outside the hotel were attentive and helpful with arranging Ubers to other neighborhoods, particularly Pooja. Our room was meticulously cleaned daily and there was never a shortage of drinking water. No complaints!

+1
Situated right next to Khan Market, the location couldn't be better. Lodhi garden is a 10 mins walk. It's a old historic set of buildings that includes offices on a couple of floors, service apartments and guest rooms (hotel rooms) on the 4th floor where we stayed. One of the largest sized rooms within 5 star delhi ncr hotels. Our rent included dinner and breakfast. The dinner area (yellow brick road cafe) was packed so we were requested to order from the room.
Breakfast has less options if you compare with other hotels and most things were a la carte which meant slightly slow service during the weekends.
Most guests use self parking.
The floor walls and some guest rooms are adorned with old paintings, pictures and artifacts.
Overall, a great stay and I'll stay again.
