Shalani makes you feel more like family than a guest. I was travelling solo and was a bit nervous about being alone in a new city. Shalani saw to my every need, from a 2AM airport pickup to recommendations for shopping, sightseeing and dining. She even had a driver pick me up at 5AM, drive me to the train station and walk me to my platform so I wasn't nervous for one second. A delicious breakfast is included in your stay and is served around the dining room table; if you are lucky, other guests will be breakfasting at the same time and the conversation will be excellent. Shalani stops by to chat as well which is so nice. I also had dinner on site 2 nights; it was so good with generous portions. I always felt safe and cared for. And like another guest mentioned, Shalani knew I didn't have plans one afternoon so she invited me to accompany her on her daily walk through the park near her home to feed the dogs. We had such a nice conversation and walked on through the university grounds. Shalani has lived in Delhi her whole life and shares such beautiful history and knowledge. Shamnath Villa ticks all the boxes. The crux: the people! What makes a true BnB is the personal level of warmth and attention. Shamnath is not run by a manager and staff. Shalini Shamnath the lady of the house is the gracious hostess here. She is there to greet you. She oversees the morning spread, at the same time dropping pearls of wisdom - the latest restaurants, great sightseeing tips.. She gives you her expert and when needed motherly advice and lays all your worries to rest. I’ve stayed at many BnBs in big cities, this is the only place that offers this level of personal touch. Keep it up, Shalini. The rest of the staff are wonderful too. The young boys are eager and willing to help with anything you might need. They are attentive and lively personalities. The other boxes: House: Beautiful big rooms, lovely garden. Location: The best! A 3 minute walk to the metro station. The underground ( the metro) is the fastest, most convenient and easiest way to get around the city. Food: they offer great meals. I had a wonderful stay at Sham Nath Villa in early July. Pramod and Anu assisted me daily and were so kind and helpful. I was traveling alone and they assisted me with anything that I needed help with, which I was most grateful for. I felt safe and the stay was very comfortable. I would highly recommend anyone stay here when staying in Delhi. I will be returning on my next trip to Delhi! :)

We stayed 4 nights in this charming historical guest house in the Civil Lines area Shalini our hostess is a wealth of information, She arranged transportation and gave us numerous ideas for visiting The food was delicious We had a few meals in addition to the breakfast. I would hardly recommend staying here if you would like a quiet guest house experience Thank you again , Shalini for making our stay so delightful

In a pretty area of Delhi, near Civil Lines metro station, there is a beautiful private home with a nice garden, large rooms with really comfortable beds and delicious food. Shalini, her husband and their staff are amazing to make you feel like at home and really helpful for any information about the city. Highly reccomended

We loved our stay at Sham nath villa. Warm welcome even though we arrived late at night. Excellent facilities, breakfast, host and location. Provided us with lots of local sightseeing tips and restaurant recommendations, and we were not disappointed. It felt like a haven away from from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. We highly recommend a stay here! Already planning our return.

We stayed 3 nights at the Sham Nath Villa in February. It's in a great location out of the busyness of Old Delhi, but a couple of minutes' walk to the Civil Lines Metro Station. The room was clean and quiet and quite large. We were in the only room on the ground floor, right off of reception and the kitchen. We were worried about noise but because there is an interior door to that room it was not a problem at all. Breakfasts were wonderful! The best asset is Shalini. She is an amazing hostess, taking the time to interact with her guests and help with any of their needs, including touring, medical issues, travel issues, etc. We would highly recommend the Sham Nath Villa.

Shamnath Villa is not a luxury hotel. Rather, it is a bed-and-breakfast establishment, with the feel of a homestay. But for those wanting something different than a luxury hotel, it is an excellent choice. My room was large, clean, quiet and comfortably furnished. The bathroom was also clean, with modern fittings and good hot water. There was a good heater in my room. Meals are taken with any other guests who are 'eating in', and Mrs. Shamnath was always present at my meals to make sure I had everything I needed. My vegetarian Indian breakfasts and dinners were excellent, with something different each day. Other guests were a mixture of foreigners and middle-class Indians. Many seem to be long-stay guests working on assignments in Delhi. The Villa is well-located, very close to Civil Lines metro station, and set back from busy Shamnath Road. The Villa itself is very quiet, and the garden is a pleasant haven of peace. Mrs Shamnath is an educated, upper-class Indian lady with excellent English and helpful advice, if wanted. I returned to Shamnath Villa after 7 years and was delighted to find it as charming and comfortable as ever. This is all down to Mrs Shalini Shamnath and Mr Arun Shamnath - their efficiency and hospitality, and the competence and kindness of all their staff. The bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable; the common areas gorgeous. The delicious home cooked food is an extra treat every time!

We love this B and B and this is the fourth time we have stayed here. The staff is so attentive and they take great care of us. Both my wife and I are vegan and they cater to our diet so easily and the food they serve is delicious. Shalini (the owner) comes to breakfast each morning and spends time with us, asking about our plans for the day, suggesting places we might go and visit, telling us things about Delhi that you will not find in any guide book, and going out of her way to make sure our stay is easy and pleasant. She is so personable and it is like visiting your favorite aunt, telling us about the history of the area, about her family's part in the history of India (her father was the mayor of Delhi after the British left) and there are historical pictures on the walls showing Nehru, Indira Gandhi and other important personages interacting with her family. Be sure and check out the picture of Jackie Kennedy on her first trip to India. The rooms are clean and spacious, there is filtered water available throughout the day, and the Villa is in the quiet part of Delhi. The Metro is half a block away for easy access to the city and the staff will make sure that you have a Metro card if you want it. We highly recommend using the Metro to get around town, clean, safe, efficient and if you miss one train, there will be another one in 5 minutes. We cannot say enough about Sham Nath Villa and give it the highest recommendation. We have been coming to India every year since 1989 and we prefer staying here rather than a hotel - much more personal and pleasant. When we come back after a busy day in the city, it is like coming home; quiet, safe and easy. Thank you Shalini for providing such a wonderful place to stay in Delhi. …
