This is the only hotel I use in Paharganj now. Mainly because it is quiet, located down an alley off a side road, it is less than 100m to the main bazaar road but if you get a room at the back, you can't hear any street noise at all. The third floor rooms are the nicest, worth paying a little extra for. My favourite room is very large and very quiet, highly unusual for Paharganj. The rooms are well appointed with plugs by the bed and many lighting options etc. After new routers were installed recently the wifi is now excellent. The hot water is a bit hit or miss, even in the hours it is supposed to be working. The rooms are clean and the staff are really helpful. All the staff are very kind you will feel very welcome. The location is excellent, an easy walk to New Delhi station and RK Ashram metro. Tons of good street food around and the street the alley is off has a local market some evenings as well as all the local shops you might need during the day. But the main reason I always return here when I am staying in New Delhi is for the peace and quiet.

The Cottage Ganga Inn offers a real quiet sanctuary within the wonderful of this Part of delhi, the Pahar Ganj. The rooms are basic and clean and the Hotel is the most safest place i can imagine in Delhi. The staff are friendly and helpful and will arrange anything for you. The owner and proprietor Darshan Singh i the most honorable person you can Image as are his family and their Reputation in the local community. We have known him and his family and reputation for over 20years and have profited from the excellence Services that his Import and Export Company also provide. We will always come back.

We stayed at Cottage Ganga Inn during our second visit to Delhi. We booked (and already payed) the room in advance through hotels.com. When we arrived at the hotel, the owner tried to ship us to another hotel 'because no rooms were available anymore'. When we said that in that case we wanted our money back and we would find someplace else to stay ourselves, he said 'You are causing a lot of problems for us'. We didn't get our money back, but suddenly it seemed that there was a room available. We took this room and stayed for one night.
The room was clean with fresh bed sheets and towels. The hot shower was fine and wifi reaches to all rooms.

Because of the poor service when arriving at the hotel, I wouldn't recommend staying here while visiting Delhi.

We booked for two nights but only stayed one because it was so dirty! Our room was disgusting, every surface seemed to have a film of grease on it. The sheets and towels were old and stained. The floor was really dirty. The manager tried to charge us for both nights but we weren't having it. The hotel is not even that cheap! The hotel are ripping people off.
Photos are of the "roof" terrace, I didn't manage to get photos of our room

After seeing the tripadvisor reviews I was looking forward to staying at Cottage Ganga Inn. The staff were friendly on arriving, however things tended to go downhill from here.

We were taken to our gloomy triple room, where our first job was to get rid of two small resident cockroaches. We were hungry and too tired to find somewhere to eat so we ordered from the 'restaurant'. I received a cold pizza which I asked to be reheated, only to be served with the same pizza but on a hot plate. A cold chicken pizza with plenty of bones was not was I was hoping for.

The beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom small and not particularly clean and the WiFi connection extremely poor.

I will definitely look elsewhere if I need to stay nearby again.

I have stayed in enough and budget accommodations in Asia to have realistic expectations. Ganga Cottage Inn disappointed me greatly nonetheless.

First, I confirmed on email that the rate would be R1200 inclusive of all taxes. When I arrived, they wanted R1230. I said this: wasn't the rate, but the guy shrugs and says he doesn't know. I wasn't going to fuss over R30 so whatever. I just wanted to shower from flight.

The hot water in my room didn't work. I don't mean it wasn't hot...I mean there was no water. After the staff fumbled around with various valves, I still had no water so they switched me to another room.

After I showered, I noticed that the sheets were soiled. What the heck? I went down to the desk and complained. They insisted that the sheets were clean. I had to drag a service staff back to my room to show him. He changed the sheets.

Because I had booked a noncancellable room, I had to return here at the end of my India trip. I was a bit wary, but the room seemed ok. When I went to shower, there was no soap. (Btw, their shampoo packets are impossible to open, so bring your own). They brought some up.

The toilet seat was cracked, but worse, it doesn't flush. You have to use the outside bucket and dump it in the toilet bowl to get it to work. Ok, this was getting ridiculous.

This particular room also kept getting a whiff of sewage through the night, which to say the least was unpleasant.

Budget hotels are budget hotels, but I think travelers should still have minimum expectations met. So if you are looking for any of the following 1) hotels that honor their rate to the exact amount, 2) showers that work, 3) unspoiled bed sheets, or 4) toilets that you can actually use....look for a different place.

I stayed at Cottage Ganga Inn 08/03-12/03 paying 1340rps/night.

Reception staff were friendly, and spoke English well.

The hotel is tucked a few back-alleys behind the main roads of the bazaar. Even at peak hour in the evening, very little can be heard. This hotel is QUIET.

Wi-fi was free, but was slow, and sometimes entirely non-functional (during peak hours, like mornings and evenings). If you're not doing anything particularly data-intensive, you're better off buying data on a sim with Airtel or Vodafone, and tethering whatever device you use to that.

I stayed in room 209. It was less clean than you'd expect for the money. There was hair on the bed, dust on the flats, and all fabrics (towels included) felt like they hadn't been properly rinsed of washing powder (you know the feeling). A sheet covered the bed, but one wasn't provided for sleeping under; just one large blanket folded at the base. Not ideal for nights anything less than freezing, but I made do.

Otherwise the room/bathroom were large, and clean enough. Food from room service food was quick, tasty, and cheaper than I've found elsewhere.

My one biggest complaint was the conduct of the evening porter (forgot his name). He seemed to want to hang around after bringing room service and ask a lot of questions (angling for tips). He even went so far as to ask for one of the beers I had lying around. You expect service in a hotel, not begging. I humoured him, but it was irritating in the end.

Overall, I had a decent experience. I'd expect if you really wanted to scrape, you could get similar for cheaper, but for once-every-2nd-year semi-budget traveler, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong with Cottage Ganga Inn. It's decent.

When i go to delhi,i always use this hotel, highly recommended!!!
At first what i most recommended is really peaceful around of this hotel...can not imagine that i am in middle of pahal ganj.....the position is like a oasis.I hear birds are singing every morning and very quiet for night time...no road front of hotel so no noisy at all.(sometimes neighbor's couple are fighting like a show though)
The room is always clean with fully equipment....and also they have great security so even single lady or who travel first time in india, you feel very safe...
All stuff are very kindness too, specially managers will treat all guests with fully gentleness....you can trust them, they are very very honest people.....i can give this hotel 7 stars!!!

My friend and I finished up our tour of the Golden Triangle at this hotel and quite liked it. It's in the touristy area of Paharganj, within walking distance of the New Delhi train station (I put this to the test myself, complete with 14-kilo backpack). If you're on the Main Bazaar Road, it's just behind Sam's Cafe and easy to spot once you're back there. There are lots of neat little restaurants and bars nearby, as well as plenty of souvenir stands (which we liked as it was the end of our trip). I highly recommend the Kathmandu Cafe just down the road, as well. Our rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff assisted us with our bags and some travel advice. We were late returning from breakfast, even, and the manager gave us a full extra hour to pack our things before we checked out, which was very kind indeed. We had a great experience here and were happy to wrap up our time in Delhi at the Cottage Ganga Inn.
