A terrible nights sleep, at 3.00am a diesel generator the size of a small shed kicked in with vibrations so loud that we thought building work was going on downstairs. Delhi is a hot place, the air conditioning unit in our room did not work as the electrics kept tripping out; the staff kept coming into the room and replaced...

I am truly sorry you were disturbed at 3 am by the electricity generator coming on. For some reason there was a lot of fluctuation in the grid that night and our generator had to kick in on several occasions . The problem was solved by 9 am the next morning . On an average this happens about once a...

We stayed at Colonel's Retreat in Delhi for two nights in March 2013 and were very happy with the service, fresh food, rooms, friendly owners and staff and location. Looking forwards to staying there again in the near future. Mayuri

I stay here often on work trips and it always matches my expectations. It really makes a difference to stay in a relaxed well maintained place when on work. The food is simple Indian food and makes a big difference rather than the ordering heavy room service. It is also great that the owners personally still take an interest an...

I liked to stay at this quite familial athmosphere, enjoyed the breakfast (omelette, banana bread... ;-)) and was surprised about the lovely designed interior (e. g. paintings at the walls). Our highlight was taking place in the holi celebrations - we were having much fun with the hotel owners and other hotel guests in a "safe" way. The staff were...

The room was clean...the view was great from the rooftop where breakfast was served...the staff was friendly and helpful. I was always greeted with a "hello, good morning" as I stepped out onto my terrace every morning. I felt very safe and very at home here.

moved here to get out of the hubbub of central delhi for a night. Staff helpful, room very spacious, food, massage and breakfast good. Downsides: no taxi/rickshaw will know where it is - you'll have to get them to go to the local metro and guide them into the gated compound, or get off at the metro and walk (300m)....

This is a very special place. All the physical details are perfect with excellent location, comfortable beds, internet availability; the food is wonderful, reasonably priced and totally addictive; and the staff is friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The hosts, Arun and Suman Khanna, treat all the guests like family and extend every courtesy, even some that guests hadn't even thought of!...

Where do we start- Clean rooms, hot water galore, beds that just swallow you. Free Wi Fi-5 star hotels are you listening. The breakfast on the rooftop with the homemade preserves, multigrain bread and the FAMOUS Banana Bread-what a way to start your morning. At the end of the day after sightseeing you can have a heavenly massage-so needed for the sore and...

Colonel's retreat is a nice small intimate place to spend some nights in New Delhi. Few rooms with a family feelings. The place is very comfortable, clean with nice staff who are ready to fullfill any request. Dinner was as good as breakfast and save us troubles of looking for restaurants in the evening.

The Colonel's Retreat had the most comfortable bed in my travels through India. They provided a clean comfortable room with a pleasant staff. The room had AC, TV, tea and coffee and a very large bathroom with tub. Outside my room was a lovely shared sitting area and the artwork in the halls, etc adds to the homey feel. The...
