I am compelled to write a review on traveler's site (such as Trip Advisor), which I never did in my over a decade of career as a 'travel writer'. Unfortunately, it's not a fancy story but a story of never-ever-experienced with 'between rude and arrogant' staff who embarrassing me, hugely. Not to make a mistake, I'm not a nouvice on traveling in India, which is not an smooth-going anyway. This is my 5th travel to the country. I used to say 'it's worthy to get involved in this culturally-rich-sub-continent, INDIA'. I normally encourage friends and people to travel India at least once or twice. However, WON'T DO IT ANYMORE. I myself this time, gotten enough, sicken and done. The most crucial reason among many others, of this decision is hotel staffs. The worst one was sitting at this hotel - Hotel Cottage Crown Plaza. I've stayed here for quite some days, extending my stay every two days. There's one female receptionist, whom I found quite professional coping well with guests' demand and she listened to. If somebody would ask me, 'why did you stay longer days despite complaints', it was partly because of her. She was the person at least with whom I can request and responded, and also greeting day and night. Another two more reasons to stay longer were : 1) good location (near metro) and 2) little better experience at my previous two hotels. first 3 days since my arrival this time, I had to change my hotel everyday. 2nd hotel which I booked through OYO was "close" when I showed up. How embarrassed. Hotel Cottage Crown Plaza was 3rd one on 3rd day. I thought I had not option to stay with patience rather than moving to another. Back to the main line, unlike the female receptionist at the Hotel Cottage, there's a male receptionist who's working over a night till morning shift. This is the worst guy - absolutely rude and super arrogant. I once extended my two more days (which turned to be the last extension in the end thanks to this guy) to stay when he's at the reception. After I paid for two nights, he seemed to write many things on the hotel's 'big (guest) book' while I was patiently waiting that he would get me a receipt. He didn't. He finally headed up to spell 'what?' (meaning what do you want? why you still there?). I said 'receipt please' (meaning I need a receipt for my payment that is done just now). He looks disturbed and unpleasant but he did write a receipt with 'payment day' n total amounts. I saw the receipt, in which no dates of my stay written - only payment day. (I paid one night before). I asked him to write down the dates of stay for which I paid, because I have to show such details to my boss, I said. He abruptly - or you can say 'angrily - said 'NO'. I requested again 'could you just write down the dates for which I paid and to stay..because i have to show such dates'. He said 'NO'. And he 'taught' me in a super-arrogant tone : "This is a receipt not a bill". WOW. I asked myself, why this guy treating guest this way. Am I rude? NOPE. Am I too much? NOPE. Did I ask anything amount to hurt his dignity? Absolutely NOT. Did I ask anything abnormal? Well, that is absolutely common sense for me to get such receipt. He treated a 'requesting' (not 'demanding') guest as like a child by behaving a superior to teach a child, rather than bothering to explain why he couldn't write the dates or listening to the the guest (me). I never knew writing dates of stay could be such a big deal for receptionist to refuse - thus making your guest humiliated. I am not complaining at all he's unkind. unfriendly. Such character is no problem for me. But be minimum-professional. His absence of understanding where he is working was a shame. He's working at hospitality field though that was part-time job or so there must be minimum training and qualification. (I'm not sure the exact position of him, but he looked trainee, even). Besides, I have some other strange & non-pleasant experiences at this hotel. 1) Somebody knocking the door at 9-nish AND 11-nish PM. (I'm a single female traveler at that time. Can you imagine??? ) I later kinda figured out that hotel boys who doing chores wanted to take order for food from me. Perhaps that's the case. But Gosh, I never understand this custom - if that was the case, I should have been informed when check-in, that there would be somebody knocking your door, that is for taking order food. Not one time, despite my complaints repeatedly, this happened 3 times. Boys didn't speak English, but one time (knocking 11-nish pm) I heard "are you a woman?" Terrified moments, horrified nights. But believe me, this was NOT the last blow that made me decide not to stay this hotel any longer. The above mentioned arrogant guy made me extremely sicken. So i left. 2) Cleaning the room : three occasions, I asked the reception to clean my room (once a 2-4 days). At first occasion, the cleaning staff hasn't done anything when I back hours later. OK FINE. But then when I asked again, he changed bad sheets only - which took 20 minutes(!! no lie) and told me, "finished". He didn't bother to empty rubbish bin. At second occasion, things fine. At third occasion, they made rubbish bin empty only, nothing else when I back to hotel hours later. I had to ask the reception again that my bad sheet wasn't changed. Dear all distinguished fellow travelers, This is my very honest, plain experience. You decide to stay at this hotel or not. But take my notes as important reference. Bon Voyage! Klara

they had charged us 1500 for 12hours whatever they had written on the site is all fake. Rooms are too small congested bloody unhygienic. Staff members are way too rude. Waiter don't listen to you. A.C. doesn't work. Hotel food is terrible.

We spent there 3 nights in February. The room was damp (still we chose the best from the available ones), and the small window was facing a wall. If possible, go for a room without the damp smell, as otherwise the place is OK if you need a basic place to stay for a layover in Paharganj. You can hear the loud music from 5PM-1 AM but with earplugs it was bearable for us. Train station and metro station to airport is 10 mins walk.

Cheap room. Helpful staff. Great area with many shops restaurants and bars. Unfortunately also a bar as neighbor. Means lot of noice until 1 o’clock in the night. Rooms and shower not clean. Reason to stay here is not the hotel, but the budget price in a great living area
