The owner, Enrique, and his staff are wonderful and helpful. My friend and I were here during New Year's, and they helped us out big time with finding us a place to stay. The hostel is very mellow--good views from the terrace and lots of chairs and hammocks. Big kitchen for you to use.

Staying here for several weeks and really can't say enough about how great this place is. The owner, Enrique is clever, fair, and reasonable. This property was built by him, and he is progressing even further with a restaurant extending in back of the main hostel quarters into the jungle. Only problems encountered were with the mainly dorm stays using... More

I just spent a week at Hostal Bastimentos and it was nothing short of amazing! During my stay I noticed some other guests nagging over the silliest little things and they run to the closest device to write a review about it, well yes it is a 25 year old building and the owner made it by hand so it... The hostel has some nice spots and some weird spots. Totaly needs more cleaning. The owner seemed ok, but he was yelling at the chill area in front of the guests, that people are terrible not doing the dishes and leaving the kitchen a mess. I understand that, but it was really inappropriate. Great value for money. Good location. Our... More

I'm a 58year old travelling with daughter so prob see things differently to the younger backpacker. BUT hygiene doesn't change no matter how old you are. The toilets and showers were not cleaned while I was there in three days. First night we got double room but it was so dull and small and stuffy that we moved into dorm... More

This hostel is in a great location & compared to the mainland or Bocas del Toro it is pretty good value for money. The views from the communal kitchen and seating areas are wonderful & its a peaceful place to come stay. Unfortunately breakfast wasn't included which made it tricky as there weren't many places to go to on this... More

A pretty cool, relaxed place...we had a decent double room for a week @ $15 dollars per night with shared bathroom. Kitchen is good, plenty of space for preparing food, fridge, two big sinks, 11-12 gas stove tops on three different stoves spaced around the place so plenty of room to cook...Two supermarkets close by, the cheapest is further down...
