What a beautiful stay we had at Ruins Villa! There are 4 double rooms that open out onto a spacious terrace overlooking gardens filled with nature. We saw deer, rabbits, monkeys and bats on our nature tour that Upali kindly took us on. Upali made us feel instantly welcome, providing us all the information we need to make the most of our stay. He organised tours, provided us with bikes to explore the ruins, and cooked the most amazing Sri Lankan dishes for us to enjoy! The guest house is located right next to the ruins - we went on a lovely bike ride all along the canal and rice paddy fields to start our ruins tour, ending up back right by the guest house, which was very convenient! Upali will also be happy to arrange tuk tuks for any other tours you want to do - we went to Dambulla and Sigiriya for great rates. The rooms were very simple, but at the price and location, there was not a lot more we needed! We would completely recommend this guesthouse to all those wanting a relaxing, quiet break in the beautiful city of Polonnaruwa. You’re in the safest of hands with the host, too.

This was our first accomodation in SriLanka and at the beggining we were not impressed but that changed. The truth is that the room is big and very empty, a bit of furniture would not hurt. And the bath towels were very thin. The biggeat issue is the bed, it is so broken that it makes a very very loud sound everytime you move. I would wake up at night everytime my partner moved. I could also hear the bed from the other room :) The good: - very good wifi - good location - very clean - good food and at a very fair price - owner was the only one that served the meals in time, everybody else we interacted with was late

Pro: - very affordable rooms at very low price level tag - Large rooms and pleasant nature surrounding area - we took onsite dinner and quite enjoyed it Cons: - beds have tiny mattress hence quite hard to sleep on, which made it difficult for us to sleep. Same for pillows, extremely hard. Overall: Though we didn’t sleep well due to rather uncomfortable bed it must be said that this remains a great option for this low price, therefore price to quality ratio remain very fair. Recommended for low budget travelers.

We cant say we slept extremely well nor the rooms are very comfy BUT the place is very well located to the archaeological site of Polonnaruwa and the room is very spacious, clean with decent hot water. No airco but a good fan. We enjoyed our stay especially because the owner was very friendly and spoke a good English. He took us on a short tour to spot animals around the property during the night and prepared for us the best Kottu we had during our trip in Sri Lanka for a very good price. Nice place recommended for budget travellers but also for those seeking for authenticity and friendly people. Thank you!

Hidden away at the end of one of the streets, this place stands out for being so new and well taken care of. Four rooms share a large terrace where meals are served, all basic fittings but they are large rooms and extremely clean, with their own shower rooms. The meals are outstanding, plenty of flavour and variety, some of the best we ate in Sri Lanka, both at dinner and breakfast. The owner is very friendly and attentive, we felt extremely welcome. The property has also a great perk: it 5 mins walk from one of the exits of the park, near the main and nicest cluster of ruins. Perfect to slink back home after your visit. Would stay again without hesitation!
