The hotel's colonial character makes up for the creaky infrastructure. The location could not be more central, opposite the Buddha Tooth temple and lake and if the building was a person it would be a character from Central Casting in a period British drama. Our clean corner room was cavernous with a long expanse of polished hardwood floor between the...

Queens Hotel is former (British) Governor's residence located in the Central Hills of lovely Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest hotels in the island dating back over 160 years 1 In terms of location, it's as central as you can get from the town centre and is just a stone throw away (something you should never do though!)...

Not a bad hotel for the price, but don't use the guys at the tour desk to organise anything. I asked how much for a round of golf and got quoted $140 USD. I went online and it was $70 USD a round. I then asked how much for a vehicle to Colombo airport and got quoted 9000 rupee. I...

One of Sri Lanka’s iconic historic hotels which was established in 1844. This is a British colonial type hotel with some similarities to Gall Face Hotel in Colombo Sri Lanka. Great place if you wish to spend more time in the Temple of Tooth Relic, visit museums and other ancient places in and around Kandy city. Excellent hospitality received from...

The Queen's belongs to the same company as the Galle Face in Colombo and the atmosphere is distinctly olde worlde; Victorian fittings and furniture, polished wooden floors and attentive service. It could probably do with a good renovation to bring it up to the same standard as the Galle Face, everything is a bit rickety and faded but it has...

Great location, great value, heritage hotel. Lots of bad reviews of this hotel, but found our room excellent after a real dump the night before. Our room was on first floor of main building and may have been better than other rooms reviewed. Very comfortable bed. Central location and able to walk to nearby attractions.
