The Olde Empire Hotel is packed with budget travellers. You meet people from all over the world. This can be to your advantage because some of them will have travelled all over Lanka. The staff let you be but if you want to clarify anything there is no problem.

Next to the tooth palace, next to the beautiful and stunning lake, close to everything! An old building-Urban designed.. Interesting different travelers sitting at the down restaurant.. I was at the cheapest room and it was fine for sleeping.. I felt always safe because there were more people.. The toilet was bad but its ok for the price.. Good for...

This is an old and basic hotel. The bed is not great, and there is no hot water in the shower. However, its location is excellent! Right in the middle of Kandy, Very close to the temple of the tooth. We stayed there during the Parahera in August 2015, and in one evening the Parahera passed right in front of...

This is a budget no pretense hotel with no frills. If you're okay with that then you couldn't find a better place. It's right in the heart of town - next to the Queens Hotel, Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa) They have mainly rooms with sharing bathrooms and a couple with en-suite private bathrooms. Highly recommended

Very good prices, the cheapest we found traveling around Sri Lanka, in fact when we booked, the lovely owner rang us to say it was even cheaper for some reason. Couldn't be in a more perfect location. Rustic old building perfect for back packers, the food is incredible and the staff were lovely. I would definitely recommend this place!

We stumbled across this hotel when walking around Kandy and I was so charmed by the history of the building that we decided to spend our last night there. The location is very central, right next to the temple of the tooth and the town's restaurants and shops. It had a large balcony for guests which is perfect for relaxing...

Great food, price, location and hospitality! We accidentally stumbled across Olde Empire due to unforeseeable circumstances, but it was a great surprise. Highly recommend to any budget travellers or volunteers who are visiting Kandy for a weekend.

Central location, basic rooms. The bar underneath is very nice. The rooms are ok, nothing fancy. There are rooms with bathroom ensuite and rooms with shared bathroom. It is a bit noisy. The staff is friendly, and the temple next door.

This place has a character. It's left as it was a long time ago, so you get the colonial feel. They even have a very old-style phone that makes a sharp ringing sound when someone calls. This is one of the cheapest places to stay, and one of the best ones, because it's right in the Kandy city centre, overlooking...
