On first arrival, The Mansion, does look stunning. An old colonial home bulit in the twenties and visited by Ghandi and Gregory Peck! Check in staff were charming and the public rooms seems gracious if a little dated. However....Our room had a distict damp smell and whilst I appreciate the furniture was of the period, it was actually just shabby....

Dear Sir,Thank you for your review and truly sorry for your unpleasant stay. Almost all our guests usually settles for our free continental breakfast as yourself but you can always order anything fancier from our À la carte. Regarding our furniture, most of them are truly antiques and I don’t believe everyone would love them so we are replacing our...

We stayed at The Mansion on 27th and 28t Jan. We booked this hotel for its old world charm and secluded location. It didn't disappoint us in those departments. It is old, it is charming and full of character but definitely needs some maintenance. Though the place is as described but it needs a little up gradation of facilities. The...

We stayed at the Mansion in January 2012 for one night. Although the swimming pool was closed we can really recommend this quiet venue outside of Kandy. The tuk tuk ride into Kandy is a matter of 10 min and doesn't cost a thing. We were travelling with my 2 year old son and the staff was very attentive and...

Our stay did not get off to the best start but they turned it around and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in a Colonial style villa located in a quiet area close to Kandy. We were picked up by a driver at the airport arranged via the hotel. We paid cash for this service. On...

Arrived Colombo at past midnight and traveled 3hrs to Kandy. Upon arrival in the wee hours of the morning, we were greeted by the friendly staff. As we waited for our rooms to be ready, the kitchen staff prepared a simple breakfast with a hot pot of coffee. There was also a choice of Sri Lankan breakfast. I tried it...

I loved the grandeur, especially the enormous first floor public room and its large out-door balcony area with the sweeping view over the lush rural valley just below. It was easy to imagine the gracious living of the time the Mansion was built and the main dining room looked magnificent with its tables, walls and doorways covered in flowers in...

Although called The Mansion Kandy, the hotel isn't in Kandy, but about 10km outside, then it's up a small track past a stone quarry (women do the heavy labour). When you finally arrive it's well worth it, a large colonial building built as aprivate house but now a somewhat run down hotel. The room we had, ground floor was very...

We spend a couple of days at the Mansion in January 2012. The charming old hotel is situated in the wonderful countryside with excellent views over the ricepaddies. Located about 10 km from Kandy you will need a tuk-tuk (25 minutes) to get there. But it is worth it for the peace and quiet this hotel offers. The hotel can...

The Mansion is a wonderful, old grand house full of character and charm. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, they can organise all your transport needs with lovely , local tuk tuk drivers which you will need due to the distance away from Kandy and surrounding temples... but well worth it! We stayed for 3 nights and visited...

I know that it will become a $500 a night renovated hotel before too long, so enjoy its Fawlty Towers meets Aman Hotel experience, while you still can....The Sri Lankan wedding we saw here reminded me of a typical Friday night in Essex!
