It was such a pleasure to be hosted by my mentor @stanleyuzochukwu at the @thedelborough the only 5 star hotel in Nigeria. The attention to detail in this hotel is insane! Everything has a touch of excellence and class to it and it is fast becoming the biggest networking hub in Lagos! The Delborough is a perfumer’s dream because of the beautiful scenting in the hotel and I am proud to have been consulted on the scenting of the hotel.

I used to think buffet was the most luxurious kind of fine dining you could have until you try the English breakfast at the @thedelborough YOU CANNOT FINISH THE FOOD😅 if you finish it you will crawl to your room and it’s just 26k! There is also a buffet every Sunday from 11am that costs 45k. A word of advise; don’t just go and eat carry your business plan and your business card. along because if you are likely to run into anyone that can change your life, they will be at the Delborough. I have seen people like Sir Okeowo the multi billionaire who doesn’t go anywhere and even hosts parties in his own house come to the Delborough for brunch.

I stepped in to say hello to my mentor at the Dani Lounge upstairs and he was introducing me to the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria.

The rates are from 281,000 Naira per night, you should save up and spend a night here it’s not because you want to show off but you need to put yourself in positions where God can answer your prayers faster.

God bless you sir @stanleyuzochukwu and thank you for the gift of access 💙🙏🏽

If you’re looking for a luxurious and restful stay, The Delborough hotel is your best bet. Right from when i arrived i was greeted with a warm towel and a refreshing drink while i waited to be checked in, which was the perfect way to begin my stay coming from the warm and bustling Lagos streets. The attention to detail of the staff at the hotel is impeccable right from the personalization of my hotel room with my name to the perfectly curated snack bar and drinks..i felt right at home. One particular thing i pay attention to on my trips is the state of bathrooms at hotels because it’s most often forgotten since a lot of attention is focused on the bedroom but this bathroom was properly sanitized and cleaned with fresh towels and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Simply put you could stay for long hours in the bathroom without even knowing you were there. The staff at the hotel also provide a night time service/wind down service which is perfectly thought out to provide you with sound sleep from re-dressing the bed, setting the room to the right temperature, putting away all your clothes, providing water by the bedside and laying out pygamas for your sleep. And not only will you sleep well you are well fed too.. fruit arrangements are provided in your room when you arrive alongside night time snacks and a complimentary breakfast which is to die for. All in all, book with The Delborough hotel in Lagos if you are looking to be pampered and looking for a home away from home. They surely got a lifetime returning guest.

Was fortunate to have been able to try out the Delborough this week for a few days during a recent business trip. The Del as I would call it is a new boutique addition to the Lagos scene that sets a new benchmark for comfortable lodging with impeccable service all around. I was given a complimentary upgrade to their 1 bedroom suite which was beautifully decorated and furnished. The Del has a fine dining restaurant on the 5th floor which I wasn’t able to patronize but all in all, I enjoyed my meals at the piano lounge and the rooftop bar. Kudos to Rachel, the Del’s GM for her warm hospitality and to the staff for their attentive service. Indeed the Del is my choice home way from home!

I’m writing a review for this hotel, since my family arrived the rooms A/C has not been working, the shower was not working, I had soap on my body, they told us the room would be fixed but it is yet to be fixed, the room is very dusty and it is hard to breathe. When I came down to inquire about the room the lady in the front was very rude and not very considerate especially considering children as a factor. I don’t believe I will be coming here again! Please hear me out when I say this don’t try going to this hotel!!!

My friend took me to the Piano for breakfast and it was delightful. The decor was light and bright. The room was small but not cramped. The decor was almost minimalist which I love. I had the full English breakfast and it came with lovely yoghurt and granola as dessert. The juice was freshly squeezed and not from a carton. I had my eggs over easy and the chef made them perfectly. My companion had a vegetable omelette and it had delicate but full flavors. More important than all the above was the courteous service. It really made a difference. I thoroughly recommend the Piano.

The hotel is high-class and tastefully decorated. The employees are always courteous and professional. The rooms are cleaned in a timely manner. I am impressed by their care-oriented service culture and customer service excellence.
Based on my experience, the welcome package includes personalized gifts and a beautifully crafted watermelon with my name on it. It was a stunning experience... I felt like royalty with their concierge service

I dropped by here late evening yesterday for drinks and was blown away by the design and service quality. No detail, not least of all the opulent smell, was spared in the lobby and public spaces.

The art deco theme is reminiscent of Claridges and The Wellesley in London. It’s a pioneering achievement in the ultra luxury segment of Lagos hospitality scene, certainly without direct equivalent.

Drinks on the rooftop are a must. The Sangria and the Banana Punch were delicious and reasonably priced vis-à-vis my expectations.

Hats off to the management for a job well done.

The place is nice, and has potential. In terms of decoration, design it's probably the best in Lagos. However many things are already broken/ not working and the management of the team is really not working... Service is very bad, if you come for work be ready to waste time (check in, breakfast etc.).
Not appropriate for busy people. Really disappointed by the lack of transparency on the fact that there's no gym, it's under construction. Very bothering when you have a schedule of training to maintain and picked a hotel with a gym on purpose.

If you look for the best design/ decoration it's probably here, best service/ efficiency is at Radisson Blu Anchorage or Continental.
Which is weird because this one look more like a boutique hotel so it should be easier to manage but clearly there's a lack of skills in the teams, and big lack of communication.
Don't waste time filling in their guests portal, it's completely useless you'll have to do it all over again at check in, and any request, even approved, you put on their portal, no one is aware of it...

Breakfast is of better quality than Radisson or Continental, but no buffet and way too long to be served when you're here for work.

Pros:
- nice team, inefficient but nice
- nice decoration/ design
- tablet in the room with Netflix
- Nespresso machine in the room
- electric opening and closing of curtains from panels on both sides of the bed
- clean room
- ok food at the restaurant
- ok mattress
- soft towels
- good set of amenities
- no need to bring an adaptator, included in the sockets near the bed
- USB and micro-USB sockets very enjoyable as they actually work (most of the time in Lagos you have them USB, never micro USB and they don't work)

Cons:
- long check in while having done online check in before, quite useless in the end
- first room very noisy next to construction
- it was not written on the website and on booking that there was a gym: there is no gym, it's under construction, VERY bothering when you pick a hotel with a gym on purpose
- all electronic panel to control light and curtains next to the bed, which seems quite innovative at the beginning, until you try to use it and realize 2 lights are not controled by it and you still have to get up to find how to turn off those lights...
- bathroom door is transparent, so in the morning the day light comes in the room through the door
- pillows are not fluffy a all
- low quality duvet and sheets
- you see Hermès amenities on the photos but don't be fooled, you won't have this in a standard room
- 30min to wait between ordering breakfast and having it served, only to have hard boiled eggs when you ordered sunny side up, when you work you don't have 30min to wait at breakfast
- after having requested through booking.com and through hotel guest portal a late check out, and having it approved twice the hotel contacts you the day of your check out to ask if you're staying an extra night because you didn't check out... and when you arrive to pick your luggage at 5pm they are cleaning your room because they've been told you stayed an extra nght, clearly no communication in this hotel team, and guest platform is a pure waste of time for guests as none of the info put on it were used.
- laundry service ok but they forgot half of the clothes when bringing them back
- water has a very weird smell both in the sink of the bathroom and the shower, a bit worrying
- hair dryer not working
- safe broken, couldn't lock it
- hotel still under construction
- no ATM
- no SPA

Nigeria is an incredible country, and probably one of the most dynamic travel destinations in Africa, especially in December. However, it can be a pretty intimidating place, especially if you don't have personal connections, or you're not familiar with the country. The most important decision you need to make is deciding on where to stay, and without question the Delborough Hotel should be at the top of your list. The service and level of hospitality at the hotel is what you would expect to find at top luxury chains like the Four Seasons, Aman, and the Waldorf Astoria. As my flight is delayed back home, I figured I would take the time to write a detailed review of my experience. I will go through the things you need to know about the hotel.

The bottom line (in case you don't want to read all the way through): I have stayed in many of the major hotels in Nigeria, and I can say without hesitation that the Delborough Hotel is by far the best hotel in Nigeria.

SECURITY: this is probably the top concern for most people traveling to Nigeria, and by far the Delborough is incredibly safe and secure. Upon arrival to the property, there are large gates where entrance is restricted and security personnel question and review everyone who is trying to access the hotel. Vehicles are not allowed to remain on the hotel premises for extended periods of time (there is is a small parking lot immediately in front of the hotel gates). The hotel staff makes it a point to know the guests by name, which definitely helps as well.

CHECK-IN & ACCOMMODATIONS: When you walk into the hotel, you are welcomed to the reception area which feels more like a luxurious lounge. You are offered a warm hand towel on arrival, as well as a tropical welcome drink. The Hotel smells incredible, I actually liked it more than the Edition hotel scent. Check-in was a breeze. The bellhops and front desk staff were incredibly kind, and I have to add - very well dressed (the branding is done well; the front desk staff wore jeweled Chanel-like business suits and even the socks of the bellhop are labeled Delborough).

As for the room itself, we were able to have an executive suite with a kitchenette. This is really great because we were able to put food in the refrigerator and also had a microwave available to us. The rooms are tastefully decorated, and I believe every room comes with a Google pixel pad. The bedding was also beautiful. The bathrooms are on the smaller side, but have beautiful rose gold finishes. Also note that the bathroom door is slightly opaque - so keep in mind if you are sharing with someone. You can get into the room using a traditional key card, and there is also an app that enables you to get entry as well. There are USB/microUSB ports in each room.

There is not a pool, but there is a gym. I didn't have a chance to check the gym out.

FOOD: The Hotel has two restaurants, the Piano Restaurant on the ground level, and the Dani lounge at the rooftop. The food was very good, I recommend trying the Sauce Rose Pasta and the Peach Mint Iced Tea. On Sunday there is a beautiful brunch in both locations; the rooftop restaurant actually has a live band that plays all the top jazz, R&B, and afrobeats hits. Definitely an awesome vibe.

SERVICE: As you can probably already tell, in the area of customer service and hospitality, the Delborough Hotel hits a home run. One thing to know is that the staff does not take tips - at all (if you've traveled to Nigeria you know it is a tipping culture, from the moment you arrive at the airport). We tried to tip the housekeeping staff and they brought the money back to us and actually gave us a small token of appreciation instead! But most importantly, on the day that we were supposed to check out, my sister unfortunately became sick, and there was no way that we were going to make the check out time of 12 PM. I let the front desk staff know, and they were so kind to give her extra time to recuperate and pull herself together. They sent water to the room, and also offered her a meal on the house. The management reached out to us personally to check on her and make sure that she was doing OK (by the way, Jimmy the Business Development Manager is absolutely amazing - 10/10 stars). We really appreciated such a kind gesture, especially since there was a VIP event happening that weekend and the hotel was at high occupancy.

All in all, I was incredibly pleased with my experience at the hotel, and it will most definitely be my go to place whenever I am in Nigeria, and it should be yours too.
