I call this a miniature Ibiza, an island in Spain I visited with my family . We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday and right from entering our room , the surprise birthday greetings began with decoration of the bed with rose flowers . The facilities are top notch and the freebies are really “jara” (meaning extra in Yoruba language) .

They go the extra mile to satisfy their guests . I booked for a beach dinner and paid extra for it but actually wanted what they called a lookout dinner . I realized of late after my wife and son had dressed formally for a dinner . I was ushered to sitting on the beach sand with my wife’s dinner dress and was told that was what I booked for ! The manager came and promised to get the lookout dinner ready with many staff running up and down with utmost urgency . I felt like a king taking my queen out to dinner .

I enjoyed the personal touches as if they have only one family/couple to cater for !

I am visiting again in two months !!!

I had a short stay there with my close family.
The staff are honestly the best thing about Jara Beach resort. They are the best out of any hotel/destination in Nigeria that I have visited so far.
They were extremely polite, kind, eager to help and very fast with orders and requests.

The food was amazing; I personally suggest you try the pancakes, the Jollof rice with shrimps in oyster sauce, BBQ wings, as well as the croaker fish in pepper sauce. Lovely mocktails too.

The atmosphere was great and the ocean view was extremely refreshing as the water was clean and had no rubbish in it.

There was an area for volleyball, swimming, snooker, outdoor dining and even painting. We got to take our art home.

And if you're looking for a place to take great photos this is definitely it. the WiFi was great and functional in most areas.
Our room was clean and smelt good. We stayed in the loft; the one that accommodates up to 4-5 people I think.

The shower had good pressure and there was adequate shampoo, body wash and hand soap in the bathroom.
The only thing that we didn't enjoy if I had to nitpick was the massage. And the vanilla smoothie/ice cream was awful. But again, that's me nitpicking.

I'd definitely come back here for another family stay. It's a fantastic spot for families and couples.

Jara should actually be given a 3 star rating in my view but I've given a 4 rating here based on the level of effort the staff members put in to ensure our stay was very enjoyable. The resort itself and surrounding scenery are beautiful, very picturesque. There are different room types depending on one's preference, lots of outdoor sit out areas for rest & relaxation, a pool, spa and direct access to the beach. The food portions are large (we very often couldn't finish the entire meal) and mostly tasted fantastic - kudos to the chef(s). During our stay there were outdoor games organised collectively for guests during the weekdays (one session during the day and another at night), I must say the host did a remarkable job in making the activities fun. Daily treats were served randomly (chocolates and ice cream) and there's a snack bar at the reception where guests can pick any item of their choosing at no cost. Customer service was great, the staff were super friendly and always willing to help.

On the flip side, the rooms, particularly the bathrooms are somewhat small and can thus feel cramped; there's WiFi throughout the resort but it's sometimes spotty and trips off occasionally; the cocktails are nice (try the desert sunrise rise or blue passion) but could be a bit stronger in terms of alcohol content; the "go cart" is actually more of a buggy than a quad bike and only goes in a straight line back and forth on the hotel front road (not on the beach), I honestly wouldn't recommend this particular activity as the ride was bumpy and gets monotonous really quickly. It'd be preferable if actual quad bikes are available.

For traffic management, it's advisable to plan leaving on a weekend as the route back into central lagos get really congested.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

Our stay at the resort was very unpleasant and we could not wait to go home.

The room was dirty. Dirty floors, dirty towels, stained bedlinen and chairs. The staff was generally inattentive and in some instances clueless about how to behave. Most of the meals were missing things that we had ordered. Trying to order things was a hassle. Every time I had to order something I found myself waiting for a long time without anyone attending, while you could see the staff standing in large groups chatting away.

The available food is limited and most dishes had way too much butter and salt. Two of us ended up with stomach issues because of the food. I basically did not sleep the entire night. If you are looking for a resort with nice drinks this is not the place to go as the drinks are consistently poorly mixed.

We brought some of the issues to the attention of the staff but it seemed like a lost cause, and you are there to relax and have a good time, not to deal with poor cleaning and hygiene standards, poor service or inattentive staff that does seem to care much about your experience.

One last note of dissapointment is the wall surrounding the resort. The majority of it is opaque so even though you are right next to the ocean you cannot actually see the ocean. The room is quite dark - it reminded me of a gloomy motel room - so overall it does not feel like you are at the ocean. The beach front is well maintained but there are a lot of kids begging and harassing people, and hawkers trying to sell you stuff.

Jara fell short of my expectations. The staff seem unhappy and therefore reflects in their attitude to customers. They don’t understand that the essence of your coming to their facility is to relax and not be disturbed; they constantly come to knock the room door for the most ridiculous and flimsy reasons. Not to mention the meals- firstly, everything on the menu is unavailable! Then, when you finally make a selection, that is also not available but at that point they don’t feel a need to explain or communicate this to the guest; they serve you whatever is in the kitchen! The meal preparation was also evidently unhygienically prepared because it purged myself and hubby’s stomach. We were extremmelllllly disappointed; Would never recommend because it’s zero value for the amount they charge.

So sorry to read this! It was almost like reading a review for another destination. As you'll see yours is quite standout. Our team of 40+ employees works far too hard to deserve one star. Some claims are hard to digest - some specific examples would be super useful. Our menu for example is designed in such a way to be 99% available - of course on occasion, we do have supply challenges, but do everything we can to mitigate these. To claim our hygienically-prepared menu is 'all unavailable' is simply not true. We're unsure quite who you are (no identifiable username or sign-off) and our team have no recollection of any guest being sick but we do encourage you to reach out to us on email so we can understand better. Please do continue to support local tourism.

The experience was bitter sweet. I feel it was overpriced for the experience I got. So the good parts. There is free flow of alcohol from when we came in the afternoon till evening. The next morning, none would be served to you. The ambience is very calm and relaxing especially the sound of the wave which beautifully woke me up. The room is tidy with white beddings and you can smoke in the balcony. The staff are polite and helpful.
The not so good part.
The bathing area (room 3) was very dirty. It’s made of tiles and any resort of that price should take extra care in making sure everywhere is clean and tidy. The food wasn’t fresh at all at least the protein. They all tasted stale and kept in the refrigerator for a long time. I didn’t enjoy any of the meals. Imagine frozen fish pepper soup! Gross right? I ordered seafood okra for lunch now imagine all the seafood tasting nasty and stale! And this place is literally beside water! 🤯 However, there were healthy snacks and chocolates at the reception! That helped a lot. I liked that!
I read up a lot of activities on the website which none was actually done. For example, the pit fire, I was really looking up to that. I was able to rest but I would not be going back here. I came with Uber and I was charged 500 for entry which wasn’t a problem. The next day my Uber was asked to pay same for picking me up which I found very absurd. I had to walk down the road to get to my Uber. If we pay more than 100k to spend the night I do not think guest should be disturbed/harassed for change for entry and exit.

Management have decided not to respond in detail again to this review - shared across multiple platforms. Apologies have been shared previously, although we will continue to support our local community, encouraging the N500 ($1) tollgate fee which never before has been so fiercely contested, as we remain part of a wider community. We wish Akoya well and trust she won't mind if we quote her review subject in our next marketing campaign.

We booked a 2 night family trip at the villa with our 12ained, we were fobbed off that they had just pumped water and it assured it would quickly be resolved. A whole 16hrs after check-in and first complaint, issue was still not fixed. After numerous times of pointing out the issue still had not be resolved we were offered a move to the neighbouring “villa” which after inspection by my husband turned out to have a similar issue with the water supply.

On the second day of our stay the hotel turned up with a plumber who claimed filters were blocked but could only resolve one tap working, poor water pressure still remained and it was pretty much impossible to shower, we were moved to a family room with reasonable water pressure.

When asked if they would refund the difference or credit note, they said they have no refund policy despite not delivering what was booked and paid for.

Again we were then asked to move back to the villa around midday of the second day under a pretence that the water issue was fixed, again we declined as it was more important to settle our little one and the back and forth wasn’t helpful however glad we didn’t as the issue wasn’t resolved when my husband went to check later.

All that said, the villa is an apartment although on two floors is small and probably the size of a bed-sit / small studio flat and not a true representation, it is not value for money for what you get. The only saving grace was the food and the locally hired hotel staff

Whilst the staff appeared to care and where attentive, the resort is looking tired and in need of Maintaince/ upgrading.

The only thing worth commending is the chef on duty, food was always on point and they had reasonable variety.

Hi Zafiat, Many thanks for sharing your experience. We're sorry your time at Jara was not in line with expectations. Our on site maintenance team promptly attended to your requests and when an immediate solution was not possible, we quickly offered you an equivalent neighbouring room where all utilities were working perfectly - this however wasn't suitable for you. While we operate only to provide quality experiences, we are are the mercy of the elements - being as oceanfront as it gets provides many unforeseen challenges - while it's our intention to ensure guests have a trouble-free stay, we do on occasion require some understanding. We will always commit to responding as quickly and helpfully as possible. We're delighted you enjoyed the food and hope we have the opportunity to welcome you again.

Wow, I just spent 4 days at Jara and I feel like a new person. Only about 90 minutes from Victoria Island, but feels worlds away. Spent my days relaxing by pool, or beach loungers, or game room, dining terrace... There were so many different specially crafted areas that is never felt crowded, and always a different area available for a different view or atmosphere. My bed was so comfy. Rooms are not too big, but you never really spend long time in rooms. In evening they have bonfires! And everything set to the easy breezy melody of waves and wind in the palm trees. ALSO, the staff are incredible - they all called me by name, they attended to any request immediately and you can tell they are treated with respect and cared for. It really felt like a nice community of staff, and guests. Also loved the tea and coffee station with delicious cookies and snacks available all day :-) Heaven.

It was my husband’s 50th birthday and we had planned a family getaway to Jara Beach Resort. We made the choice after an extensive research on reviews out there. Turned out to be a great decision! We were enthralled by the thoughtfulness of dressing up our room to wish my husband a happy birthday. There was even a bottle of wine and balloons dropped for our celebration. I loved the cozy ambience of the accommodation. We loved the meals, the unlimited drinks and my children had great fun in the pool and outdoors. We had an evening picnic set out for us on the beach as we requested and enjoyed a nice evening out by the fire pit. We also took stunning pictures at the beach. We loved it so much, we will be going back this week for a few days! I did have some feedback about late food arrival and a few fixes required in the room. This was well received by our concierge. We’re all looking forward to another great visit!
