The hotel is really nice and has a fun artsy vide to it, with live music when we arrived late in the evening. The staff were very nice and the driver was great in taking us around Lagos. The hotel is also very well located, near the Lekki Conservation Centre, Enegushi beach, the Nike gallery and the Lekki Market.
My room was fine and my friend's room (number 8) was even better with a lovely shower, all artistically tiled and opening onto the bedroom.
If you are looking for a personal touch, away from the high-rise hotels, this is a place for you.

This small hotel is crazyyyyy. Like the bathroom in my room was made out of seashells that were peeling off the wall.. There were two plugs and one of them gave me a shock, the other one was dead. The bed smelt of damp, ciggies, beer, sweat, people..
But wtf. Its a wonderful hotel. The staff are funny as only Nigerians can be, with that balance between resignation and hope, love and fear. The chairs in the lobby/eating area are mostly profoundly uncomfortable, the tables wobble, the floor has potholes, the serving hatch in the bar is a window, the window is a door and door is a shelf. You can get a beer but where's the opener? Nothing is particularly fast, the extension cable is plugged into the socket with a biro and some masking tape.. this is exactly as it should be. What you get is a rather stout lass behind the desk who knows exactly what's going on and will take your cash with a yawn and a grin.
If they run up some music on a Friday or Saturday night you are not going to sleep so you may as well join the great unwashed and get fissed as a part while yelling responses to hugely engaging locals who will all want to know who you is and what you does.
Nah, I don't think I slept more than two hours a night, ever. The food is pretty awful but I never got sick. The beer is cold and if you want to just sit and watch things coming and going - why not. Would I switch to the wheatbaker? No way!

I visited Lagos on business. The office staff had planned to take me to dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel restaurant, but I just couldn't face another hotel dinner. I insisted on someplace different, and so we came here. The food was great and the music even better. This is SO my kind of place. Funky, a great DJ with cool tunes, crammed bookshelves. I used to hang in Hillbrow in Jo'burg in the nineties and this place has that kind of bohemian feel. I will totally return when I am next in Lagos.

Bogobiri is a nice place for those seeking a touch of culture , art and / or the African vibe. Good food (including local delicacies), nice cultural environment and the occasional live band make this a very nice chill out spot.

Generally, I enjoyed staying in this small hotel / guest house. Unfortunately, my experience was spoiled shortly before leaving when I discovered that a significant amount of money had been stolen from my room (there are no safes either at reception or in the room). The owner was helpful in assisting me report the incident to the police, but ultimately did not take responsibility for the theft, presumably by a staff member who had access to the room in my absence. Beware of Room 8, in which the toilet and shower are on a raised platform in the bedroom (i.e. not in a separate en suite room).

This is indeed a quirky spot combining bar, shop, boutique hotel and restaurant. The bar has a fun laid back atmosphere and the band talented and friendly. Perhaps a bit loud for any conversation but that could be my age.
The small restaurant has an interesting menu but on our Friday night visit, the Nigerian kitchen had "closed" at 6pm (?) which was a shame as I hoped to try some local dishes. Still, the food was decent and reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend a visit to this spot.

I'd give this place six stars if I could. I stayed at Bogobiri my first couple of nights in Nigeria in early November. It's got live music; a comfortable, unique, artistic feel; and great food. But as importantly -- because I am a woman traveling alone in Nigeria for the first time -- the wonderful people at Bogobiri matter the most. Bogobiri sent a driver to pick me up personally at the airport, and I recommend the driver too (Rafiu). The staff made me feel at home and advised with transport, SIM card, changing money, etc. Within the first 24 hours I had fallen outside and hurt my leg. Someone from Bogobiri walked me to a clinic and then came back mid-way through my appointment to make sure everything was okay. Later, the owner (maybe?) made my day by chatting with me over lunch. His friend, a former pianist with Fela Kuti stopped in to talk with us. The whole thing place is pretty magical.

I read other reviews before staying here, so here's my thoughts on those. I was worried it was noisy, but I asked for a quiet room and it was quiet. The music in the guest house stops around 10pm I think. As for lights and internet, it was fine considering you're in Nigeria and I don't think anywhere is perfect all the time. When the lights went out, they came back on. Same goes for complaints on food timing. They cook it, and cooking takes time.

Bogobiri House is a beautifully decorated boutique hotel centrally located on Lagos Island. The rooms have an individual flair and range from the sufficiently spacious to the very generous. The lobby serves as a lounge and is a great place to sit down and have a drink; more tables can be found in a small patio outside the entrance. The neighboring house doubles as a cultural center with concert and performance spaces and offers an interesting library, Nigerian video film collection and art collection. Bogobiri also has a good restaurant. The breakfast buffet is rudimentary and needs improvement, considering the prices.

Went with some friends visiting from Europe on a Thursday for the open mic night. where audience get to participate either with spoken word, singing etc....
it was great fun but the place was packed and gets quite rowdy, so if you're going on a thursday get there early ( before 7pm) and go with friends.
there is an entrance fee of 500 naira to the open mic night.
Really nice unusual african furniture , great decor and artwork on the walls with a great african vibe.
there's are souvenir / art shop within the premises with a good variety of items which was still open when we left at 10pm
food was tasty, I had the grilled fish with yam chips and a peri sauce, others had boneless chicken with regular chips and same peri sauce. prices are reasonable.
A great place to take visitors to get a feel of Nigerian joie de vivre !

By far the best hotel accomodations we experienced during our trip to Nigeria (Lagos & Calabar). Other hotels were fine, but run-of-the-mill at best. This is a very unique experience, with amazing art and an incredible lounge next door. The one tip: the executive (?) suite with the big tub looks cool, but is a little awkward, with the toilet being expose (to both eye and nose). It cut down a bit on the romance factor. Just get the ordinary room and the value is amazing.

If you're there on a Thursday night don't miss the open mic at the lounge. So much fun!
