Finca Montania Sagrada is on a open plain at the foot of volcan Madera at 200 mt above lake level. Coming here is not for everyone. The short road (400mts) to reach our gate is very stony and bumpy. Not all vehicles make it up. In the rainy seasons, May, June, September and October it becomes worst. Exploring the neighbourhood is best done walking. Accommodations are all new and confortable, all have ensuite bathroom with hot water, private balcony/porch with rocking chairs and hammock. All are fitted with ceiling fan and electric kettle with a selection of herbal teas and coffee. The finca has many resident animals, horses, dogs, cats and parrots. Kindness towards animals and nature is a must! If you love Nature,Animals and to relax, the Finca is the right place for you

I recently made my eighth visit to La Finca, on Isla de Ometepe., Nicaragua . I toy with going to other places in the world, but in the end -I always return here! Why? For starters,It’s stunningly beautiful! La Finca combines being very close to nature and animals with a touch of Italian Sophistication. I can lay in a hammock and have a view of two different volcanoes .The villages of Merida and San Ramon make me feel like I’m living 100 years ago. The people and lifestyle here are friendly and agrarian. The hosts here,Hari , Mirca and Marilena treat you like family. Their fresh, homade Italian cuisine is divine. There are at least five languages spoken here. Activities:. You can visit anywhere, either walking or by horseback. There is kayaking, fishing , hiking and Nicaraguan “ Comida Typica “ and Nicaragua close at hand. They have over 20 gentle riding horses to choose from 5000 year old petroglyphs are everywhere to explore. They are right on the trail to a dormant volcano with remnants of unique rain forest, found nowhere else in the world. A beautiful lake is in the center of the volcano. They have a pack of wonderful Ranch dogs that will escort you if you wish anywhere you want to go. It’s just the most fun place and breathtakingly beautiful. -Mark twain wrote about Ometepe the island. And the dogs… It’s just the most fun place and breathtakingly beautiful. -Mark Twain wrote about Ometepe island. Need I say more?

We stayed at the finca in July with my family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children 8 and 7 years old) for 2 nights and I can say it felt like we were staying with family. Hari and Marilana made us feel at home. Hari greeted us at the bottom of that "bumpy road" that gets you to the finca. It's hard to explain but we went in July where they had a couple of bad rainstorms overnight and the road became worse and the stones are quite large, so our rental may have made it up, (a larger toyota SUV) but Hari didn't want us taking a chance of damaging the front end. He met us at the bottom, we had lunch together at the wonderful family owned little restaurant next door, learned a little about the finca and his interesting life, and then he drove us up the hill. We were able to walk the stoney hill in the daytime, but at night I would not recommend it. Not because of safety, as we felt safe, but because it's dark and even with a flashlight, you could end up tripping on a stone. We ate at the on-sight restaurant the second night and we really wish we ate there both days (even though the restaurant next door is fantastic and fresh-to-order), the food Hari's staff prepared was delicious and it was very inexpensive. I think we paid around $16 for salad, appetizer and fresh pasta for the 4 of us. Breakfast was incredible! Made to order eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, fresh juice. It was fantastic. My children, who are nature lovers, adored the finca. Tons of birds, butterlies and wildlife around because the grounds are so lush and absolutely beautiful. On the last morning, Hari took myself and my 7 year old daughter out for an hour on his horses for a tour. A private tour of the inner parts of the island and he hand-selected horses that he knew would be gentle for us beginner riders. It was honestly so perfect. My son still asks if he can go back to the place with the dogs on the island because he really enjoyed it so much. The rooms were clean and well maintained. When we arrived, the shower to our room (a double bed and a set of bunk beds) was not working because I believe an animal or bird got in there, but Hari gave us the keys to the empty villa right across and we showered there. It was clean and we had the entire finca to ourselves. It was literally a piece of heaven on earth. Ometepe in general, is rustic and very quiet. If you want something that feels like the staff is family, this is the place for you! Hari and his team are so knowledgeable and make you feel like you are welcome. Thank you for an amazing 2 nights - we wish we stayed longer. In addition, they booked our ferry for us for our arrival and departure because we were bringing our car with us. Totally recommend if you have a car, it makes getting around way easier.

I haven't written a review before. But three years after our stay at the finca I came to the conclusion that the finca deserves a review, because we have enjoyed it so much as we look back on it. We have made many travels and this place was the most inspired one. Pure nature, the quitness, friendly owners and last but not least; many friendly dogs and cats. The cabins offer you everything you need and are nice and clean. At the restaurant they serve a nice breakfast and great pasta dishes. Don't expect swimming pools and television, so turn your cellphone off and enjoy the relaxed vibe.

We spent 4 incredible days at the Finca Montania Sagarda in January. The hole stay was a perfect and unique experience. Hari welcomed us very friendly and showed us around. The Bungalow, which was the ´mamacita room´ was beautiful, with a nice terrace and very loving decorated and spacious. The three owners, including all of their dogs were so sincere, friendly people who gave us a lot of great tips. It was a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere at the Finca. Although you had to walk around 10-15 minutes on a rocky path from the Finca to the village and back it was a very beautiful, secluded place. You should bring sturdy shoes though. There was always the possibility of taking a 4-weel-drive taxi directly from the Finca. If you decide on staying at this perfect hideaway you shouldn´t be afraid of dogs, although they are very friendly and well-behaved, and you shouldn´t mind a few days without WiFi in your room, for it is only available in the Kitchen- and dining-area. All in all it is a fascinating place wich they created, an exotic and beautiful garden with a few very nice little bungalows. The perfect place to relax at the Finca and the whole island. We would always come back to this very special island, to this very special Finca owned by a very spacial group of people. Thank you for everything!

Our group absolutely loved our stay at the Finca! Delicious garden fresh meals, a super fun collection of pets and people, and all around a great place to spend a few days. Having the horses on site made it easy for many people to go on a variety of adventures with Hari, and the hike up volcán Maderas starts literally in the front yard. We will definitely be happy to stay with them again, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the hosts are great. I can highly recommend this place if you’re looking for relaxing times on Omatepe.

Don't miss this beautiful spot! The cabanas are comfortable, stylish, and well-furnished. There are beautiful views, friendly dogs, hiking, and excellent food. Breakfasts were stellar! We added some unplanned horseback riding and we were not disappointed. It was a grand adventure for a great price, and our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable, and most important, skillful. I felt comfortable and safe and happy during our visit.

Our two families (two couples, four teens) enjoyed three wonderful days at the finca. The breakfast was delicious and generous, the dinner fresh and filling, and the hosts and staff friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the property well maintained. We enjoyed relaxing at the covered area with a book, a beer and some wifi and then heading back to our our patios for some napping in the hammocks. All that after volcano hikes, kayaking, and a horseback ride. Three days there really allowed us to take in the area. As stated, their road is really rough and rocky, but our van made it up and down without problems. Best things about our stay: friendly staff, great food, clean rooms and amazing views. If we ever visit Ometepe again, we'll definitely come back.

Simply the best! This is not your average Ometepe hotel, feels like you dropped into paradise! The Finca is absolutely beautiful, I just couldn’t decide which way to look! The rooms are beautifully appointed, the staff is very helpful ; And the food! Homemadebread, yogurt, pesto, perfectly cooked pasta, anything I asked for and It was prepared, if possible. Mirca, Marilena and Hari go way above and beyond what you would expect .. You feel completely taken care of. Anything that you need , tours, food , drivers moto’s -they arrange for you. Hari’s Horse tours are the most amazing way to see the island. The horses are fine for even children and beginners.Hari will customize a horse tour to your capabilities . There are even offering boat tours now, which was a blast. A unique way to view the island! I loved staying there and I’m already planning my next visit.

On the recommendation of a friend, we went to stay at the Finca for a couple days and loved it!!! Actually ended up staying an extra day and that made it even more perfect. I have traveled to Nicaragua several times since the political crisis started and each time have felt completely safe - it is not an issue that affects tourists. This time of year is a beautiful time to go, especially as the flowers at the Finca were amazing and weather is ideal. The hike up the volcano left right from the hotel and so was super convenient. Also the hotel arranged for an incredible massage after the hike, which made it even more perfect. Food was a welcome change from rice and beans and the pesto was some of the best I have ever had. Need to go back to explore many of the other sites on Ometepe and will certainly always stay at the Finca.

Ometepe is a little tough to get to, and getting to Merida is another step further. The roads are rough! The journey is worth it. The Finca is beautifully maintained and rooms top notch. We went there for the horse riding and it did not disappoint. Hari takes very good care of his horses - not something common in Nicaragua. There is also great hiking up the volcano (the trail starts in front of the Finca). This is a quiet part of the island so if you want something to do, just wander down to Merida for a drink or dinner on the beach. Smile and wave, the folks are so friendly. Also recommend the kayak trip down the river, but go late in the day to avoid crowds and the light that time of day is amazing.
