I've been to Hacienda 3 times and am just looking at my calendar to book my fourth trip. I can't wait to go back. Actually, the owner and his family joke with me about leaving my clothes there since they KNOW I'll be back soon! They're friendly and hospitable, and interesting to talk to. I started out as a tourist...

This place is a little harder to get to by public transport but the view and tranquility is worth the journey. Take a kayak out on the lake. There are many nice walks you can do. Food portions are good and the fresh juices great! The only thing I would say is bring the most potent bug spray you have...

I Agree Jen... Actually mosquitos are a problem during the heavy rainy months (September and October) but it's wear that we have been getting rainy days during this days... I'm sorry... Thank You so much for your comment! We really appreciate it! Esther Vargas

Yes, this place has great reviews and an amazing sunset. The pier is fun to lay on, jump off of, drink a beer and watch the sunset on. The food is good and the kitchen staff is really good about safe food handling, using bottled water for coffee, and general cleanliness- although it can be a bit pricey. Albeit other...

Hacienda Merida is absolutely beautiful. It's quiet, peaceful and the sunsets are absolutely amazing. The atmosphere here is very relaxed and it is definitely not a party hostel. The nature is so untouched, and it is in a great location to hike the amazing Maderas Volcano or hike to the San Ramon Waterfall. They also have kayaks here, and they...

We stayed here for three days in February. Had a beautiful room overlooking the lake. The hostel was calm and quiet (nothing like the party environment of some of the hostels we'd heard about in the island). We kayaked and hiked and had massages on our deck looking out onto the lake at sunset. We also took the bus to...

Really enjoyed the kayaking and the sunsets from the dock. This place is far out to get to but very relaxing once you get there. We had an upstairs room which was comfortable. We hired a moped but you have to go very slowly along the long unpaved road there due to the stones and holes.

Thank You for your comment Elise! We appreciate it. & yes, tourists has to be very careful when driving a motorbike. Is not just the road but nobody knows when a dog or a pig will show on the road and may cause an accident :( From Moyogalpa to teh Hacienda, 33 Km are paved, 5 km are unpaved. Warm...

A very beautiful place, but quite far away from the other hostels. The owner of the hostel has built a school from plastic bottles, wich he pays the local people for collecting them. It keeps the area Nice And clean! The rooms are very basic

Hacienda Merida is a beautifully quiet hostel on the far end of the island. This end is less well developed and far more attractive and exciting. The hostel itself has very clean rooms with lovely bathrooms and a range of different sleeping options. The sunset view from their pier is by far the best on the island and is an...

The hostel has a nice surrounding garden, but there is not really a beach. Only a place where you can enter with the Kayaks. We read the comments here too late, when we had already reserved. But nothing changed, if you want to get there or leave you either book a much overpriced taxi for 30$ or you have a...
