I stayed here with a group of birders - as a group booking I am unable to comment on prices/value for money. The Auberge was very comfortable; the rooms are not super-luxurious but were well fitted out and comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. The food was excellent and service was generally friendly and helpful. One or two...

It was great fun being driven across the desert, not knowing where we were going, apart from following the poles in the sand. When we eventually got there our first impressions of the hotel though were misleading. We were greeted by Ahmed, who was charming the whole time we were there, but also by three barking dogs, (not my favourite...

When a sandstorm postponed our stay at the Dunes of Merzouga desert camp, we were warmly welcomed by Madame Bouchra and her staff. Dinner with wine under the stars was a delightful experience and our meal was delicious. The rooms are basic, but very adequate and comfortable plus there is plenty of hot water. The pool looked wonderful. The auberge's...

We stayed a night at the auberge and a night in its bivouac. My review concentrates on the bivouac part of the experience, which was stunning. The auberge was fine, but the real gem was the bivouac, which was out of this world. It was the highlight of our Moroccan road trip family adventure and I'd recommend it highly to...

If you're concerned about sleeping in the desert without toilet and amenities and don't feel like roughing it up this is the place. It sounds very western but that was the main reason I went with this. And believe me, you still get plenty of authentic experience. Unless you're a diehard backpacker, you will enjoy it. Where this place delivers...

follow the pols from erfoud, and yes we did it in a compact rental car driving in the sand. this place was gorgeous, the french owner where a little snoby when we first arrived but that was maybe because we dressed like backpackers. The food is fantastic, the rooms are nice very clean and they organized us camel tours early...

First, the Bivouak is amazing. Great service, ambience, location etc. Food kinda sucked but it didnt take away from the experience of staying the the middle of the Sahara. It was great and highly recommended. We spend only 1 night there and after our early morning camel ride went to the Hotel to shower. My god, is that place a...

We had booked one night in the Auberge and one night in the Bivouak and had two controversial experiences. The night in the Dunes was 5 star. Luxury tents, open fire with Champane and delicious food. Our little group was the only guests and the silence at night was almost unreal. The Desert Inn the next day was a bit...

Who would expect to find a flush toilet, gourmet meal, luxurious tent accommodations, and live entertainment in the middle of the Sahara Desert? We went the entire route, even riding a camel to the bivouac site, and all of this was arranged by the owners of the Kasbah Derkaoua. It was the adventure of a lifetime, and very well done....

Firstly, it is between Rissani and Merzouga, so not really in/near Erfoud. I would endorse the comments made on 21.10.07. Having to send a deposit by money transfer was costly.

“Tent camp is basic. There is properly made bed with very firm mattress and pillow adequate blankets. Lighting is by candlelight both outside and inside tent. Very clean community bathroom with tile floors and tent walls and blanket door. Sink is basin with water from copper bucket with spout. and small mirror. Showers are available at the camp. Tents could be claustrophobic to some. We left the blanket door up all night which was fine.”
