a very basic chalet for backpacker. Only accept walk in customer. No electricity during day time so u can enjoy the sun & snorkling. Only takes 3-5min walking to the restaurant. Nice seaview from the room.

We arrived in the morning of a very warm august day, after a full day traveling from the south of malesia. We didn't book anywhere so long beach was full hosting. We made the mistake of standing in long beach (coral beach, 10 m walking is 1000 times better) . Moonlight was the only one with rooms and private toilet... More

This is a good place to stay on Long Beach, especially if you're not planning on spending much time in your room. It's an average backpacker beach guest house: very basic, rickety floors, no a/c, very very thin walls, and cold showers (but it's hot outside so it's no big deal). The staff are helpful and welcoming. Clean enough and... More

Okay, it's not the cleanest and, like everywhere on the island, loses power for most of the day. Big deal. It's by a great off-the-beach snorkel spot (SOLD!), and the guys here were super friendly. The young guy w/the long hair took 4 of us out on a small boat for a good price, and it was by far the... More

I stayed with 2 more friends in one of the bungalows with a fan. Electricity stops at 7am and does not work again until 7pm. So it gets very hot. The bungalows are very old and the bathroom as well. Not very clean but it is SEA. It was very cheap though, so I guess you get what you pay.

I stayed at Moonlight chalets for 6 nights in May. When I arrived I walked all down the beach and looked at four other chalets - for my budget this was by far the best. I paid 35RM per night and was in one of the A Frames with a sea view. The room was basic but had a clean... More

I was here last week with a friend. Let's be honest, it's pretty shabby and a terribly run down place for any hostel standard in say Sydney or even Kuala Lumpur. But then again, almost all accommodation on Long Beach is very basic. Long Beach often has no electricity for many hours of the day, nor water. So you can't... More

I stayed with a friend at this chalet, sea view room at front in May 2011, and again 2-4 June 2013. in 2011, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good functioning restaurant. However, on the last night we awoke to the sound of a rat gnawing the floor boards. This year we arrived at 6.30 p.m.and... More

we had a look at all chalets, this was the best. No mosquito net provided, cold shower only. But the other chalets are not better. Moonlight is the closest to the pier. No wlan available, no breakfast

Just like what the other travelers said. Its dirty, run down & in dire need of maintenance. There were four of us, we stayed at the chalet facing the sea. The aircon wasnt working, the fridge full of ants, the mattress old and dirty and the stains in the toilet..terrible. We too had an encounter with the resident rat. Not... More

“I would pay the extra for a room with a view, that way, if it rains you can still hang out on your patio. Our room faced the jungle and we were eaten alive by mossies.”
