PARKING LOT: I saw a security person in parking lot both day and night. Parking lot well maintained and well lighted at night.

ROOM: Very nice standard room, with a safe, private balcony and a comfortable bed. The WIFI worked well. No TV programs are in English.

BATHROOM: Large shower in a compact bathroom. No hooks to hang clothes and used towels. Towel rack caused towel to hang into sink area. No blow dryer in room.

ROOM SERVICE: We ate our diner in our hotel room. Menu is in both Thai and English. Twenty-three Thai Cuisine items to chose from, no Western food. My Thai partner and I chose three items and we thoroughly enjoyed our diner.
FIVE STARS!

BREAKFAST BUFFET: A mixture of both good quality Thai and Western food. Upon request they would make fresh Vietnamese noodle pots and fresh Western omelettes. The coffee is OK! The dinning area is attractive and kept clean.

SUMMARY: I would stay there again.

We stayed 3 nights here to meet some friends from Laos. Our arrival was earlier than we expected but my wife phoned and asked if we could check in early and the answer was positive so we arrived at 12.35 pm to find no reception staff and no bell boy to carry our luggage. Everybody was at lunch. Eventually a young man arrived who, as we found out later was a doorman, checked us in and carried our luggage to our supposedly de luxe room. He failed to give us breakfast coupons and Wi-Fi login. The bedroom was on the small side for a de luxe room, and the shower area tiny with no hot water for the washbasin. Breakfast was average buffet style except for the dreadful tasting coffee, so the first thing we did after breakfast was to go out and buy some real coffee. The hotel advertises a restaurant AND coffee shop but in fact the coffee shop is the restaurant. We ate two lunches in the hotel restaurant which serves excellent Thai, Vietnamese and Western dishes but found it puzzling that at both times we were the only customers. Our dishes of steamed sea bass and pork knuckle (German style) were cooked to perfection and really tasty. Please management, if you read this, congratulate our 17 year old trainee whose service was faultless and give her a bonus. Later we found that most Thai residents prefer to buy their food in noodle shops and eat in their rooms, but our de luxe room had no microwave like other 4 star hotels where we have stayed. The TV has 82 channels but only one, NHK World, with news in English and only one, Eurosport, in English. During our fist night a foul odour emanated from the shower drain which permeated into the bedroom and was reported to housekeeping, it appeared to have been fixed by the time we returned in the afternoon but reappeared in late evening so I bought some drain deodorizer at the nearby Tesco which should take care of the matter for a week or so as housekeeping could only do a temporary fix. Reception staff could do with some English lessons as a few guests were Westerners. All said and done the hotel is very average, restaurant excepted, and my opinion, given the small room size and reluctance to right wrongs, it is no way near being the 4 star hotel as listed. Would we stay there again? The answer is no, but we would return to the restaurant. A simple solution to the lack of customers in your Lalin restaurant would be to list it as a separate entity on Google and TripAdvisor as it was by far the best of the five restaurants we ate at during our short stay.

If you’re stuck for somewhere to stay that would possibly be the only reason to stay here . Reception staff stoney faced and not at all friendly, breakfast is a farce , nobody speaks English ,you would kind of think they might have some basic understanding , I gave up on tying to explain I wanted an egg, in the absence of performing an impersonation of a chicken laying an egg I gave up and settled for a coffee which I made myself . I don’t like leaving negative feedback but honestly, In hindsight I’d rather have stayed in prison for Four nights.

We were here for just a single night, and everything was more than satisfactory. The regular rooms are small and a little old-fashioned in style, but the one we had was clean and comfortable. In retrospect I might have booked a suite instead, and I'd do that again on a future trip - the suites cost less than the regular rooms in many other hotels. But in any case, we were perfectly happy. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the restaurant was excellent. Some of the Thai dishes (khung ob woonsen, for instance) were really delicious.
