My family with two teenagers rent a family bungalow there. Very nice place but people are really unfriendly. Service at the restaurant is also poor; it seems clients disturb waiters who prefer a good rest ! We had also a bad experience with renting a boat for the whole day from the resort. Once on the boat, we understood the...

1st the good part... The price was reasonable, the view was excellent and the snorkeling in the bay was amazing!!! However, the staff at the hotel seems somewhat grumpy, tired and uninterested. The room it's self other than the spectacular view was not so clean. Particularly the bathroom. We needed to use some duck tape to keep some of the...

Horrifically rude customer service, we had to get up and walk out of the restaurant. Stay clear! The waiter refused to give us menus (makes sense, right???!) and would not let us explain our order. He was acting as he was annoyed he had customers! Mind you, we were the only customers at that point in time. They should just...

Beautiful concrete bungalows overlooking Tanote Bay! Beautiful views, each bungalow has a hammock on a large covered deck! The staff were helpful. No problems with our stay. The road into Tanote is not paved, has erosion and rocks. We rode our scooter but inexperienced drivers may want to take a taxi or park their bike and walk down. Tanote has...

Visited the place for 4 days with my family 2 adults and 2 children 8 and 5 years old. The resort is nice and clean the food is OK. Prices are a little to high for this standard but the location and beach are gorgeous. Nice views from bungalows and the best snorkeling bay on Ko Tao. In the bay...

We arrived on koh Tao by boat at the pier which is on the opposite side of the island from Tanote Bay. Taxis wanted 500 Baht to take my husband and I to the hotel but the lowest we could bargain them down was to 400. Expensive! However.... This hotel is worth every cent. The view is unreal. It is...

Our bungalow was the last one next to the rocks, closest to the water. The room, service, food, etc is just OK, but the view is stunning. Really one of the most beautiful places we saw in Thailand. Great beach snorkeling, too. Great variety of fish, but a touch low visibility. Tanote Bay is awesome, although the ride here is...

We looked at pretty much all the resorts in Tanote Bay to find an affordable room to stay for a week. The TFR had the cheapest available room (650B) with the best view and a hammok on the balcony, but to be honest the room itself wasn't too inviting. It was darker than other rooms we had looked at and...

I picked Family Tanote Bungalows after reading the short review in a "lonely planet" Asia travel book. I'm really glad I did. The Bungalows are run by a family and they were super friendly. The hotel is situated right on the side of a beautiful hill, all the bungalows have porches with hammocks and face the sea. There is a...

Pros: absolutely breathtaking view from bungalow porches. Each bungalow has a personal porch and balcony looking over Tanote bay. Room are nice and relatively clean. A few small bugs but what can you do. Personal bathrooms, 800bht hot shower water, 600bht only cold. We stayed in the 800bht room and it was very nice and spacious.  Cons: horrible, horrible unprofessional...

“All the bungalows are different. Theres lots of steps so if you dont want to hike up alot of steps, you can always ask for a room close to the beach. There is bungalows right on the beach. I was halfway up the hill and I had a total knee replacement. When I made it to my sundeck, it was always worth it. I didnt need AC. I had a great fan and the seabreeze blew right through my room. The bungalows are nice. It is Thailand. I recommend reading a short blurb or two on Thai and Burmese people, there customs. There very easy going people. Unfortunately for them that work in the tourist business, they are confronted with disgruntled, complaining, loud people constantly. We all could learn something from there "take it easy" style of life.”

“Make sure to look at the room before you pick it -- we had room 24, which was probably the best on the whole damn island as far as views go. Some of the rooms were blocked by trees, however.”

“Bungalows at beach are mainly for 4p..smaller ones higher up against the hill. Be very specific when you call them. You could end up in bungalow high on the hill, with many stairs. Prices can hardly be negotiated, You need to pay in advance, so make sure you have enough cash with you since there is nothing nearby. Email is unreliable and not an option to communicate.”
