Dear Sir, My family: Rahul Oturkar – Room 301, 302 My friend's family: Mililnd Shewale – Room S6, S8. stayed in hill country resorts Kodaikanal from 29.05.2022 to 01.06.2022. I would like to provide feedback to you on our stay: 1. Where is your reception? After our cars arrived at the resort, we had to struggle to find the front desk because nobody was there at the arrival front gate of the resort. How can you have your front desk deep inside somewhere, very difficult to find, no person or sign boards to guide guests to the reception. 2. Unpleasant/rude/arrogant behaviour of reception person We had paid over Rs. 80000 in advance for our stay. Many people may be paying more than this. We were two families requiring 4 rooms nearby each other, but that does not mean your receptionist should humiliate us by saying “sir, you booked standard room sir. You will get the room which is available” As if we are beggars to book a standard room and to get a better treatment we should have booked a high end room. 3. Common sense a. Any person (barring local people) arriving in your resort could arrive only in afternoon after a long drive either from Coimbatore of Madurai or nearby hill station Munnar, anybody would expect good nice food. We could get just snacks because restaurant was closed. That is also fine but the person in the restaurant was in so hurry that before we could say what we wanted, he was assuming what we wanted and was writing the same. When we said, not this but this dish, there was a visible irritation on his face. He thought we should order what he wanted to serve not what we wanted. b. All the service providers in the restaurant were sleepy at all times looking tired, waiting for customer to finish and go. Customers come to you for relaxing and eat leisurely not to hurry. c. We were in total 8 people. Common sense says, that 8 glasses of water should be provided. Everytime, we had to tell your people because on a table of 8, there were only 2 glasses. Even after telling they provided repeatedly 1 glass less and we had to remind again to provide the last glass. d. No table was anytime ready with cutlery, salt, black pepper, butter, sugar bags, etc… These are required by each customer everytime he sits to eat breakfast. Each time when we asked for salt, it came in big bowl which generally is used for cornflakes and milk. Who will require salt in such high quantity? e. Grilled bread slices were kept in a container which is used to keep sambar or other things warm. The bread slices became like rubber due to the steam. Your people don’t have common sense that bread toast can be made and eaten fresh so that bread remains crispy. Instead they keep rubbery bread toast and forget the essential cutlery on table. A complete lack of common sense. f. Buffet dinner is the most convenient way of dining in any restaurant attached to a resort. Your people served the buffet only on 29th May. 30th and 31st May, we had to order ala-carte where the captain messed up everything. He is always in a hurry to write the order before we actually said what we wanted to order. If we asked do you have sambar rice, he would say yes and before we could say anything he would just write down that. Finally we had to tell him, “boss, wait….. let us confirm”. And he would get annoyed. Does your restaurant have a rule “if you ask if sambar rice is available, you have to order it”. Is there such rule? g. Quality of food particularly the sandwiches were very bad. Each sandwich had two slices of cucumber and two slices of tomato. No green chutney, no butter, no tomato ketchup on bread slices. Is this the way you make sandwich? Overall, I rate common sense of your staff as a BIG ZERO. 4. Room service/Houskeeping a. No towels were provided in S6 and S8 rooms. Mr. Milind Shewale had to call many times to get the towels b. Room no. 302 was not provided with cup for making coffee and glass for drinking water. After reminding several times and informing about the bad service, cups were provided on 31.05.2022 evening. Very very bad service. c. How to call other rooms from one room? No information written on the phone. If a group checks in (like we did) how do we know how to call to other rooms? d. Sufficient amount of coffee, tea and sugar bags were not provided. When you charge so high, what is the problem in providing few extra bags? e. Tata Sky satellite tv was not fully recharged. Channel which could be seen in one room was not available in other room and vice-versa. Many desirable very common news channels, movie channels were not subscribed. Can’t you spend the small amount of subscription (may be Rs. 1000 per month) when you charge Rs. 6000 per day? Why do you behave like “kanjus”? 5. No mobile signal/No Wifi a. I have never seen any hotel in past 15 years which don’t have wifi. b. Your hotel is different. You have wifi only in reception. c. When there is no mobile signal in any of rooms of your resort, why don’t you provide a strong wifi in every room? For what do you charge Rs. 6000 per night? Can you afford even a wifi? d. If all people who stay in resort come to reception for wifi, can your reception accommodate so many people? e. Can’t your hotel or resort lobby work with prominent mobile companies to get a tower fixed on one of the mountains to get a clear mobile signal? 6. Games room a. The table tennis table net was broken, the rackets were broken, tennis balls were of low grade, the books were in locked condition, the magazines were from year 2013. b. Do you read 9 year old magazines? c. We were told you have a snooker table at time of checkin, we did not find it and when enquired at reception, he said, “we don’t have”. False promises made. d. Other board games did not have the tools to play. Dice had numbers erased, snake ladder game had no coins, etc… Only game working properly was carrom which only 4 people can play. What should rest people do? 7. Check out a. We already informed reception on 31.05.2022 evening that we will check out on 01.06.2022 early morning 6.15am. b. Accordingly we reached reception at 6.05am, paid the bills for food. c. Receptionist present at that time informed staff to take the luggage to the car immediate at 6.10am. After this the luggage came at 6.45am. The reason for delay was that the staff was “checking the room”. What is there to check in the room? What is there to steal from your room? Do you think we will steak something? We will steal towels or bedsheets? d. Ultimately I carried by big bag to the vehicle because I had to reach Madurai airport. e. Other luggage still came at 6.45. Total waste of time. Your restaurant people are in a hurry that we eat and go fast, but your other staff is so relaxing that they do each work very very reluctantly. Because I am used to stay in various hotels in India and abroad, I thought your resort was just a third grade hotel with a simple room, some hot water, no television, no good service, no mobile signal, no wifi, no good restaurant, no good supporting and friendly staff; actually the staff keeps waiting for tip money after they bought towels, cups, water and carrying luggage. I have clicked some pictures of room 301 and 302 where there was no cleaning done, lot of dust was there. Some pictures where you have light on television and not on mirror. Zero common sense. Hill country resort Kodai has only advantage: cool climate. Otherwise there nothing great about your resort. Just another hotel with cool climate. Hire some good staff who has experience in “hospitality”. I have pledged, I will never visit Kodai, or Ooty because it’s a cold “jhopadpatti” with narrow roads, bad roads, too many cars, too much smell of diesel and kerosene mix, too much crowded, too many traffic jams, bad hotels like hill country and car drivers who just want money and not give service. Totally disappointed.…
The resort is located just behind sterling Kodai valley resort at a better price. Spectacular Hill View, Amazing location and delicious food. The staff was cordial and takes care of all your needs. This place is 4 km from Kodai lake and you will have to take your own vehicle for sightseeing or the resort Will arrange one for you at additional charges. Good for visit family and friends both and there are ample activities to keep you occupied.
Hill Country in Kodaikanal is a must visit property in Kodai. Set away from the crowded town area and the property gives you a silent cozy atmosphere surrounded by hills and their own in house lawn / garden. The rooms ( different categories) are well maintained and the entire staff taking care of the guests really matters. Come and experience this property and plan for a good vacation or workcation and spend your time in the Uday of cool and serene weather. Food really makes a great difference covering multi- cuisine by their chef. Don’t give a miss whether is is breakfast lunch or dinner. Do make it for a good relaxing stay here
Wonderful experience, We wanted a far off place from the town. Yes, as seen in the pictures property is neatly maintained. Road to reach the resort from town is not that great. But once we enter resort it’s like getting into a different world. Breakfast options were less. But dinner was really good. Portion of each dish was larger than we expected. Unfortunately it was raining the whole period of our stay we couldn’t spend much time outdoor. Kids enjoyed running around!! Overall worth a trip.
We'll forever remember this special autumn sojourn of 2019. I should have shared the journey much before but couldn't some way or the other. Please do excuse me! The picturesque property in the lap of nature is just the perfectly ideal honeymoon holiday destination if you dream to simply unwind, braced by mist-covered cliffs, panoramic lakes, manicured terrace-farming valleys, cloud-enveloped mountains, twittering of birds, chirping of crickets, and gorging on delectable food. Resembling a European county, the resort is best enjoyed while walking around amidst landscaped gardens with rich flora predominantly gigantic eucalyptus trees and gorgeous wild yellow flowers wherever you set your gaze. This memorable trip came as a birthday surprise (precisely our 2nd honeymoon) from hubby and interestingly, I was totally unaware of it. There are quite a few options to stay, and each accommodation is praiseworthy. The staff is well-behaved and articulate. The room service is great as well. I would suggest you should go to the beautifully designed restaurant and enjoy the yummy food amidst beautiful nature. One thing I would like to mention is that we found the connectivity inside the property a bit problematic. We visited during September 2019. Then BSNL provider was the only saving grace. However, the connectivity must have been improved by now. Otherwise, the resort itself is a tourist destination offering every nook and corner 'clickable'. Take care all of you and stay safe.…
Pathetic service & arrogant staff !! Cleanliness is very worst ! They never care of customers ! There are many beautiful options in Kodai , never step into this hotel as a family !! Might be suitable for bachelors but definitely not advisable n safe for family !
The resort is rather beautifully landscaped with multiple places to relax in the exquisite weather. The staff is courteous and the service prompt. The resort is located off the main road and has good parking facilities on premises. However, a few things need improvement. The restaurant is cramped and not well lit. Given the beautiful property it should be made more open with abundant day light. Secondly, the music played by the resort to entertain groups is too loud. It destroys the peace and quiet that one would hope for in a hill resort ( at least I did). Lastly, this place has very poor cell connectivity. Moreover, the wifi only works in the reception area. Sure, the resort can't do anything about cell phone towers but the wifi accessibility should be definitely improved.

I stayed for 2N/3N with my wife and 6 yr old son in this resort in their Premium Suite.. i was impressed by the look and feel, landscaping and maintenance of the resort.. The room too looked fine at 1st look but definitely not worth for Rs.7000 per night.. A small tv in living area with a half accesible kitchenette. Very ordinary Bathroom(shower was not working.. i had to clean the nozzles with pin to make it work in the middle of my bath).. comfortable bed but no TV in bedroom.. there was a fridge but No mini bar.. No big and proper cupboards to accomodate luggage.. no safety locker.. The only thing that was good is the Balcony and the view from it.. The Main door lock was stuck too many times.. Be prepared to climb up and down the resort to go anywhere..Also they are stingy towards giving toiletries and refreshment refills.. had to request them daily more than once to bring those.. Never touch the In room Dining menu, you may need to take a personal loan to eat.. too costly.. Buffet Breakfast spread was good but they dont refill the items and again I had to tell their staff to see the empty spreads and fill it soon.. i saw too many people returned to their table without picking food they wanted as it was not filled regularly... The indoor Game room and outdoor shuttle courts were maintained well.. a small kids play area and some good photo spots are the few good things about this resort.. and finally one corporate motivation event was going on when we checked in and continued throughout the stay which disturbed the peace of the resort with too much noise... Those guys were still talking and shouting when we left on the 3rd day... U have to completely depend on the resort for food and refreshments as there is nothing nearby which adds up to the high pricing of the food in this resort.. what a silly mindset to charge the guest extra premium when they are totally dependent on u.. I booked this resort on seeing the online reviews but felt that the people who have stayed here have never experienced the better part of hospitality.. there are much much better options for the same price and even less.. So overall, a very much overrated and overpriced resort with a silly mindset management.…
Stay Disconnected... ! Literally.... ! It's about 5 - 7km from the lake or market area and from the main road, the actual resort drops down into the beautiful valley - but then with that drop goes the mobile network.... none of the network (Voda, Airtel, Jio) will work properly. Forget mobile data connectivity - hence stay disconnected Resort must improve the wi fi capability within the resort, maybe with restricted bandwidth so that no one will stream a movie but everyone is able to make whatsapp voice call or send whatsapp messages to the outside world. Resort is much bigger than the one in Ooty - however the greenery and maintenance of the lawns are amazing and beautiful as it can get. Lawns are huge and well maintained. The room have very good view of the resort and lawn, however, since it's in a valley, you would not have a valley view. Never-the-less, the view from the balcony is good. I booked a Premium suite / Luxury suite which had a large hall + dining and an independent bedroom. Bathroom is in the hall + dining area. This category of rooms have a big balcony with chairs to relax. The room was bigger than expected with adequate furniture - I was happy with the room Rooms were clean and they had hand sanitizers provided as well.. even with the CoVID lens, I was happy with the room cleanliness. Bed linens were clean - house keeping staffs were very helpful. Food and restaurant service was good in general.. in-fact very good. However, come a long weekend with Christmas eve and Christmas, they were understaffed to manage a full sell-out crowd. The resort is huge with good parking and ample space to move around. Staff members were all wearing mask always and they were all very helpful. Cons: TV is available only in the hall+dining and with very limited channels. Wonder why cost saving in the number of channel being available especially for English and Hindi. WiFi could be improved in the resort They were not mandating guests to wear masks - they can atleast make masks mandatory in the buffet common food area for guests as well…
