Elephant valley is the last settlement on the border of the National Forest which extends into wildlife sanctuaries of Kerala. It is uniquely situated on an elephant migration route that is centuries old. This land and the rivers we share with local people blessed with prestigious vegetal and animal species including: native birds, leopards, deer, bison and elephants. Its remoteness allowed it to escape the ravages of 'modern' chemical agriculture.

We only stayed in the resort for 3 nights but they were incredible. The whole resort with the houses, the restaurant and the lounge is designed so lovely. The people are so nice and the service in the restaurant was beyond great. The food was always cooked freshly and the salads were really amazing. We would definitely recommend to do a hike while your stay there. Our guide was very nice and showed us the nature and animals during our hike. The resort is in the middle of the jungle and you can see the monkeys jumping from tree to tree from the balcony’s. The scenery is really special and unique. Also the reception-crew was really nice and always available for questions. We would definitely recommend a stay in this beautiful resort and will definitely come back by chance!

Elephant Valley Resort is true to its name! Nestled amidst the flora and fauna of Kodaikanal is this beautiful resort where you are closest to the nature. Avocado trees, pepper & coffee plantations, fig trees, fresh water stream, breathtaking views of the misty mountain peaks….. you name it and it is all there. Waking up each morning to the chirping of the birds is an icing on the cake. The wooden log cabins are aesthetically designed and well maintained. Breakfast spread and all other meals are delectable and organically sourced. Mani, Subbu and his team ensured we had a wonderful stay. A BIG THANK YOU to the team at Elephant Valley Resort.

Elephant valley resort is a very beautiful place with lush of greenery all around. This property is very well maintained and clean. We travelled from Madurai to Elephant eco farm, which is three-hour drive, As we drove near to the eco farm we could see so much greenery and experienced the pleasant weather. We really enjoyed our two days stay at the elephant valley resort. We stayed in a Kerala cottage which was built with complete wood, which resembled a log house with so many tall trees around. We reached there in the evening and enjoyed the cold breeze and weather. The staff and manager Mani were very friendly, and they took good care of us. There is a river flowing through the valley which added more to the serenity and tranquility to the place. It was such a wonderful experience to wake up to the chirping of the local birds and enjoying the greenery. The food served was very delicious and health friendly. There is a hanging/connecting bridge within the eco farm, my daughter had a really great time crossing the bridge and going to the other side of the river. The staff say that sometimes we can see the elephants moving around the property, although we could not spot any during our stay, but If you are lucky enough we can get to see the elephants inside the farm at times, over all we really enjoyed our stay at the farm and cherish the moments we spent over there and would love to visit this place again.

A place away from the Madding crowd, where there is peace, tranquility and oneness with nature in forest. An absolute relaxation sets in. The ambiance of the home stay is breathtaking as it is inside forest with Riverside view .One of the most beautiful and peaceful location in Kodaikanal. If you want to get a break from your daily busy schedule of city life, this is the place to be. The jungle resort is very well maintained. The staff was also very helpful and caring. This place is located about 15-18 Km from the town.A big thanks to the Elephant valley eco farm team.

Very good hotel in the Palani hills near Kodaikanal. Calm, serene location and well maintained property. Friendly staff, Mani is the manager of property and he is very accommodative of any requests. Food at the restaurant is decent. They can arrange for trekking to nearby hilltops and also Anjuveedu waterfalls. Love to go back again in future and spend more time.

we stayed at this property on 14/1/22 and it was a wonderful experience. for those who are looking for an off-beat experience away from the maddening crowds and usual touristy stuff , and would rather prefer a stay closer to nature , this is an ideal stay. we were well taken care of by the boys who were friendly and attentive to our every need. The food deserves a special mention as it was extremely good , especially considering the remote location. The property itself is a nature lover's paradise with a stream running through and remotely located cottages. Overall great team work by the Manager Mani and his team. Good job guys , keep it going !

We spent 4 days at the property. It is in the middle of a forest/coffee plantation with a river running close by. Extremely peaceful place. No TV, no internet in rooms but one can get it in office and dining area. Secluded resort to be one with nature and animals. You can hear animals at night. Service is not bad but can be improved. Probably in line with what we are paying for. No hot water throughout the day since they heat it up mornings and evenings. If you are looking for conveniences of a resort, this place will disappoint you. Rooms can do with some minor investments like Wi-Fi, hot water kettle, more lighting. If you want to be with nature and are willing to let go of some things, you would like it. Food was excellent though supply chain was disrupted due to vacancy. All veg food was organic and we can give 5/5. North Indian food is 4/5. Be extremely careful of leeches in the forest or river. Excellent views and lot of open spaces.

Serene location, in the midst of thick forest, there are few independent cottages, natural ambiance, I visited also after five years ,found best hospitality and friendly staff, professionally managed, a restaurant is also available, alcohol is not available but one can carry a bottle and drink in the room, a must visit for those who love natural parking available.

Where do I begin? This place must have been really nice one upon a time, but now it's pretty run down. Let's get on with the review. Pluses: Amazing nature all around. 100 acres, bordered by reserve forest. There is a river that runs through the property. Birders will find paradise here. Interesting artefacts and ganesha paintings painted on reclaimed wood by a french painter. People who love old upcycled cabinets, chairs and other artefacts will have a love affair here. Minuses: Terribly down on staffing post covid. The surrounding coffee plantations are overgrown with weed. There is no organic vegetable garden anymore. I have a feeling the chef is M.I.A too, few kids with aprons rustle up 'sumar' (tamil for ok ok..so..so) food. Anything and everything you ask for, they blame it on the elephant. Example : Hotwater for bath in the morning? - Sir, wild elephants don't like hot water Evening camp fire? - Sir elephants are afraid of fire, so foresters have asked us not to start fire. They then attack cottages ( Dude if they are afraid of fire, how would they attack? ) Mutton curry? - Sir elephants don't like mutton. So we don't buy. Evening guided trek into the property? - Sir I'll come sharp at 4 pm. (No show). 'Next day' - sir sorry because of elephants, I couldn't come pick you up. No wonder this place is called elephant valley :p A bit of a background, we are hard-core wildlife photography and videography people, ventured into many a jungle. Pretty knowledgeable and what animals do and don't do. Jokes apart, for a fact, we did have morning baths in ice cold water, put up with sub par food and enjoyed some dubious hospitality, all no thanks to the elephants. Im sure the owners are listening, and the poor elephants too...
