We stayed at the Mount Pleasant resort for 3 nights in January. We had an awesome experience during our stay.
Mr. Najmal and his hospitality was simply amazing. His warm and welcoming nature, attention to detail and kindness truly made our stay memorable.
I especially appreciate the engaging conversations with him on such a wide variety of topics. It was a pleasure to exchange ideas and learn from his insights and wisdom, which added so much depth and enjoyment to my stay. My kids also enjoyed his company very much.
The rooms were pretty good and big and very economical. The food was simply amazing. Mani and his team whipped up homely meals which were very satisfying. We even got to customize our dinner! The complimentary breakfast was made fresh and served hot. We had idli, dosa and puri bhaji during our 3 days stay.
The small garden surrounding the property enhanced the hotel's charm and beauty. The view from the rooms at the rear side of the property is overlooking a valley and very beautiful.
The access road to the hotel is a bit steep and needs careful driving on the downward slope. But this is ok, considering its a hill station.
All in all, it was a wonderful and amazing experience. I would definitely recommend Mount Pleasant to anyone visiting kodaikanal. It is closer to the city which makes it very convenient to visit the tourist sights. At the same time, once you enter your room, it's a different experience altogether, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It is a commercialized home stay. A boutique is exclusive and classy, which this place is not. Nor does it offer basic facilities of a resort like mineral water or toilet paper in bathroom. Following is my unbiased feedback about the place.

What is pleasant about this property –

Has a host who is welcoming and is always around to make you feel comfortable.

Kodaikanal weather is fantastic and enhances your stay. Applicable to any other property you choose as well.

What is not so pleasant about this property –

Approach is difficult as it involves steep drives.

There is no private parking within the premises. It is outside the gate.

There was some construction work underway and hence the exterior was a lil messy.

Property is not as big as it appears in the website.

Our bed had torn and stained sheets. And some strands of hair as well.

Children’s play area is not maintained and hence not usable.

X-Box advertised on website was not working.

Wifi connectivity was poor as it was intermittent.

Food is average. Home cooked and fresh, yes. But, lacks flavor.

View from the room was disappointing. It consisted of towels and linen that was put to dry.

Since the other rooms were occupied by families with children, twas very noisy. Rooms are at close quarters and tranquility depends on who is in the neighboring room.

Provision of other meals such as lunch and dinner is subject to availability/presence of cook on that day. Since there is no inhouse chef, meals other than breakfast are not guaranteed. No eateries closeby.

If the promoter focuses on these areas, it might be a good stay option as it is budget friendly.

Well, After seeing a lot of good reviews on Trip Advisor, I contacted at the resort reception. I was very excited to have my good holidays in Kodaikanal. I asked about the price of rooms and the facilities that they provide for each category of rooms. Then I requested him to send me a quotation so that I can transfer the advance to his account. The guy (his name is Najmal) was so pathetic that he is not replying anything clearly. Also when I am sending repeated reminder mails he is said "you can see the price list on the site ... and transfer advance to the account asap". In spite of the fact that I contacted first and the room was available at that time and I was continuously following up with him, he replied with so much pride that "Sir, the room has already has been booked !!". Even thought it very disappointing to me when I listen him. But then I realized he carries this much of ego because Trip Advisor shows good rating for this resort. I wanted to say one thing to everybody that, Its just a few ratings which makes perception for few resorts awesome, actually there are dozens of resorts which are much better than this. Also the guy like this keep enjoying the outcome of ratings :-(

Kodaikanal is a beautiful place, full of low lying clouds and greenery. After a long ardous and a wet journey, we were pleasantly surprised to be at Mount Pleasant. As a welcome gesture, my kids were served with hot french fries just before our dinner. Mr. Najmal and his troops provided us very good service over the next couple of days including the assistance required for the permits for Berijam lake / forest. It was service with a smile, always. The common area is very neat and tidy with a few antiques here and there. Even the kids may find a thing or too of their interest. A swing, small merry go round are also available in the play area. The bonfire in the night during winters is also something to look forward too. The only downside I guess was the lack of variety at the dinner table in case you are staying there longer than a couple of days.

At the beginning of June I booked on Booking.com 2 double rooms for mid-August. I was called by the hotel at the beginning of August to confirm my reservation and I discovered that they had over-booked and they wanted us to sleep all 4 in one double room. I called Booking.com and they confirm me that I had booked 2 double rooms (I was starting doubting it) and that it was the duty of the hotel to provide me with 2 rooms of the same standard I have asked for. But the hotel kept on saying that they had no rooms. Since I had booked in June, I asked them to cancel the booking of someone that booked after me. Nothing, they kept on saying "I will call you back" and they never did. I had to call them 4 times. In the end I cancelled my reservation and we went in a different hotel. It was a pity, because it really seemed like a nice hotel.

A place worth skipping. Nothing spectacular. Bad approach road + Cramped up space + Tasteless food + Cheeky host + Unsettling parking space, sums it all. Am sure there is multitude of better accommodation options. There are genuine hosts who exude warm hospitality and then, there are those whose lines reflect the type of person they are. This one belongs to the latter category. Having experienced many wonderful home stays, this was a rude shock to the whole concept. We luckily tried only their breakfast which was a letdown. Absolutely flavourless. When we were starting breakfast, we enquired if the host had his meal and if he’d like to join us. His reply was “ How can I serve my guests, without tasting the food first…!!! “ Heard lot more of these cheesy dialogues during our stay. Rooms are bare decent. Parking is a pain as it is on the road. With narrow roads, it is a tricky affair. Overall not a recommended place for sophisticated travelers

I recently visited the hotel. The approach road to the resort from the main road is terribly steep and one has to be expert to climb up and go down. There are no options for food other than the one cooked by the hotel even bottled water is not available. There are no hotels close by for alternative food arrangements. I changed the hotel next day .Its just an upgraded homestay.

Ours is a BB property and not a hotel. Kodaikanal is a hillstation and the beauty rests in its pleasant climate and landscaping. Almost everyone comes here in car and I am incompetent to certify their driving skills. We serve traditional quality food with warm water for drinking and our good guests who tasted it have only relished and appreciated it. Its really difficult to satisfy all human needs, because needs are unlimited. Thank you

The hospitality I received at Mount Pleasant Boutique Resort was exemplary. A very big thank you to Mr. Nithin and the staff. Their hospitality was simply unparalleled. Mr Nithin coordinated my entire stay himself and saw to it that I was comfortable at all times.
The property is very pretty and is situated perfectly. Not too close to Kodai so that you can escape the hustle and bustle but not too far so that commuting becomes a problem. A 20 minute downhill walk takes you to the Kodai lake from the Resort. The serene surroundings are exquisite. As night falls a soothing calm takes over. There are no blaring horns to listen to. In the mornings one is woken up by chirping birds. The rooms are spacious and have modern amenities. Thank you for a memorable trip. :)

Most rooms have space for 2 and the rooms with the lofts can accommodate 2 more people easily.Any more may strech things. Do note that most rooms have limited storage space for luggage and unpacking 4 bags may not be possible. Suggest you speak with the owners directly and discuss. They are friendly and ready to help.
