Visited this place in January. Let me go straight to the pros & cons about staying in this place.
PROS
1) Location is very good. Market, post office, 3-4 ATMs, budget friendly eateries, bus stand, travel booking offices & Kodai Lake within walking distance
2) Affordable rates. Clean rooms & lobby.
_
CONS
1) Hotel doesn't have a P.O.S. machine. So, all payments are taken in cash only
2) No intercom. You'll have to go to the reception in person if you face any problem. We faced problem with the water supply when the pump failed to work in a morning & the manager or any other staff were nowhere to be seen for an hour after the manager's initial appearance.
3) No restaurant/room service
4) There's a mosque nearby & you'll be woken up very early when you don't want too!

+1
First of all to say it was a wonderful and pleasant experience with Jayaraj Residency Kodaikanal. A fantastic place with a fantastic garden for a well family. I would like to credit owner Mr.Jaya Pradeep, GM Mr.Ganesan and Incharge Mr.Nandagopal to give us a feel of homely place to stay as our own Residency. All shopping ,malls, food restaurant, bus stand and the star shaped lake are very nearby to the Residency Just 100 meters from bus stand. These people treated us like their own people. As safety is very very important especially to ladies , as a lady I suggest all of you to prefer this home stay during your trips. Especially the rooms are excellent with affordable cost for a middle class family. Their Garden with indoor games and a play area for children with mountain view is so amazing to view the beautiful mountain.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days. Room was nearly maintained. 24 hours hot water service provided to everyone who stays here. Room service was excellent and they always listen and care for their guests. It's located at the heart of the city and sight seeing is very easy. Excellent 👍👌

The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. The room was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. The location is unbeatable! Close to all the major attractions and just a short walk from great restaurants and shops.

Recently, i went to kodaikanal to spend a holiday with my family. Myself and my friends family went together. We were looking for a decent hotel at a moderate price. we had already made an advance booking for two double bed room. We planned to stay in kodai for three days.
We reached there and we saw the rooms and selected our rooms. The hotel staff were nice. We wanted to see the deluxe rooms but none was availbale. Initially, the rooms were looking good. But after staying for a while we noticed that the rooms are not well maintained. I would personally rate it below average. The rooms were badly lit and furnishings were not that good. I would say that for bachelors that room would be ok but again the rates were high when comapared to the standard of the rooms.
On a scale of 1-5 i would give a rating of 2.5 for the rooms we stayed. Ofcourse i havn't had the chance to see the deluxe rooms so i could not comment on that. And one thing i forgot to mention is that the environment around the hotel is also not great as there were foul smell of drainage were there.
In on line my advice would be "use it as transit camp and in extreme emergency".

I got booked through redbus hotels. They gave horrible room. where you don't ve even bathroom lock. Bathroom was so smelling and pathetic situation. Water flush was not working and sometime if water stop you have to go to the reception and tell as land phone connection will not work. I just stayed only for few hours and left vacated by evening. As this was business trip i felt ok but never take family with you. Behind hotel there is butcher shop every time you will that bad smell of slaughtering goat, blood and other nasty.
