I stayed with my wife and 1.5 year old child at this haveli. It was very clean, cleaner than some hotels I've stayed at in India. Place is very charming and has a lot of history. The gem of this place is really the structure and its owner. The owner was very kind, accomodating and hospitable. And he gave all that we requested. The dinner he served was great. The owner even gave our baby little Keychain toys. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at braj. The owner made our stay at bundi worthwhile.
If you have plans of going to Bundi, no doubt you should spend at least a night here and experience a warm and amazing host. A lot of the havelis in India are either super rundown guest houses, or converted to really modern hotels that have no character and soul. This place is perfect! It’s beautiful! It’s authentic! It’s spotlessly clean, the food is amazingly delicious, cooked fresh, with fresh ingredients and tastes nothing like the other hotel food we’ve had, but the best part is the host who is incredibly kind, understanding and hospitable. He will move heaven and earth to make your stay extra special. You will feel his sincerity in everything he does. We checked out other places in Bundi, definitely this is the cleanest and best place to stay, better than any hotel in the area. I’ve checked TripAdvisor and photos before coming here because I have a 16 month old with me, but nothing beats experiencing it in real life. The pictures don’t do justice. We were literally saying “wow” at every turn, especially in the main house area and at his antique collection. While you won’t experience modern luxuries like a tub, TV, pool or spa, I think it’s great to be able to experience something like this, even just once in your life. The house is over 200 years old, almost in original condition and very well maintained. There’s so much history, as the owner’s great grandfather was the prime minister, etc. There are photos and paintings on the walls and he was generous enough to give us a wonderful tour of his home. We also met his cheerful beautiful wife who looks very very young. We are eternally grateful for his hospitality, kindness and generosity and for opening his beautiful home to us. We would have loved to stay longer if Bundi town were a little bigger and I didn’t have a baby with me. During winter, you can stay longer as he opens his rooftop and there are more activities to do. We most definitely recommend his place for a pleasant, memorable and incredible stay in Bundi.…
Very nice, family run heritage hotel, with wonderful and helpful staff, nice breakfast, good internet connection, with wonderful views up to the fort , expecially the evenings with illumination of the fort are magical. And a lot of fun with - stealing!! monkeys. So watch out and do not leave your doors open!
Lovely owners, beautiful interiors and comfortable room. The bathroom was a little dated in room #15. We had lunch and breakfast here, neither were particularly interesting which has lost them a star. Outside it was like a war zone so instead of staying two nights we bailed out early as we couldn’t face the sensory assault any longer.
We stopped over at Bundi on one night travelling from Ranthambore to Udaipur. The Haveli is a clean, well-maintained place in the middle of a not particularly well-developed town (open sewers, open garbage heaps etc.). Other than heating, it was suitably equipped for a night's stay. We froze in the night, even with the little fan heater given to us by the person who ran the place. He 'could not give us' more heaters. The staff was courteous and helpful, but seemed a bit afraid of their manager which was quite noticeable. Our travel agent booked a room without heating, and to upgrade the hotel asked for Rs 3500, which nearly doubled the price of the room and was most certainly much higher than the original price of the heated room anyway. We were in desperate need of heat and we had to pay. Tip: Make sure to book the rooms which include heating, or else end up being made to fork out huge sums on the day.…
We loved this beautiful heritage haveli. The artwork was incredible, the location peaceful, the people very welcoming and the room was really comfortable. It was so interesting g to hear about the history of the building too. Thank you! Isobel and Andrew
My girlfriend and I loved this hotel and the family even more! Very friendly, smiley with infectious laughs! As other reviews state, the two brothers that run this place are the nicest souls you'll come across. We asked to stay in one of the most decorated rooms and were given the option of a few to choose from. We found this hotel to be an oasis in the chaos of India and would definitely return. It's special place that we'll remember, our only gripe would be pricing of the rooms - slightly overpriced especially considering breakfast was not included. Overall a great and memorable experience though.
This is a truly beautiful heritage building. The walk and ceiling paintings are astounding. Lovely views of Taragarh fort. Owners are very friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. A great place to stay.
What can i say, the two men who run this place are the nicest most accommodating people you will ever meet. Genuinely interested in your well being. It feels more like a home visit than a hotel. Small, quiet and well located in central Bundi, with views of the palace that looms above. The only part that makes it better is all the wildlife jumping around - monkeys and chipmunks so cute you can't help but smile and enjoy their antics. The food and service in general is quite good - delicious all vegetarian offerings. The Rooms and bathrooms are not luxurious but quite comfortable and large and have everything you need for a relaxing stay in this off the beaten track locale.
