Nice big, clean room with extra seating places near the hidden windows. Very well decorated. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the food in the hotel excellent. Can definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel seems romantic and charmant on the web, but it is not. Furnitures un the lobby should be replaced, it's really cheap. Dining room is very dark. Hôtel staff sas lit super nice. We stayed only one night but would not have spent one more.

The 'deluxe' room we were offered was anything but: small and a bit grubby, with tired old furniture, frosted glass in the window so no outlook whatsoever. Public areas looked dusty and untidy, and the rooftop restaurant was closed because of mosquitoes. Perhaps some other rooms are better, but they were fully booked so we decided to stay elsewhere. Bundi is wonderful, but be aware that accommodation choices are very limited.

Although this hotel has character and potential to be quite good, the manager is what really let it down. We booked a room with breakfast included, we even personally spoke to the manager who confirmed that breakfast was included. That morning we ate a basic breakfast at the hotel (the kind that is typically included - toast, jam, egg, coffee) and were subsequently billed for it. We spoke to the staff who rang the manager and everyone said that breakfast is not included and that we shouldn't be complaining because they gave us a room upgrade as we were the only guests. They also lied about the restaurants in town being closed due to quiet season - wasn't the case. Internet wasn't working. They lied about there being no working internet in bundi - we found free wifi at a restaurant down town. The door to our room hung open as it is an odd shape & people could see in - didn't feel safe. Will never stay again.

On arrival the reception had a number of dogs and a receptionist sleeping behind the desk.
We were impressed with the size of the suite but then I asked about the TV, the fridge and tea an coffee advertised on their website.
Then I found half the lights didn't work, the shower didn't work and at 4700ruppees per night excluding breakfast it wasnt cheap!
Once I had expressed my concern an LCD TV turned up. I ended up walking out as the shower and toilet were still not fixed after 2 days.
My advice... AVOID!

We stayed at Hotel Bundi Haveli for 2 nights in July and absolutely enjoyed it. Upon arrivel the staff was very helpful, making us feel at ease and they gave us the opportunity to choose the room we wanted (its low season so not that many guests) We choose for the room on the first floor which was spacious, with a very good equipped, modern bathroom (not always easy to find in Rajasthan)

As for the food, we enjoyed that as well. The Hotel has a good cook, but beware, In low season they do not provide a menu for diner. (Since Bundi is not really that touristic, there arent that many restaurants in Lonely Planet, so eating in the restaurant is recommended) The hotel has a must see rooftop terrace, with exquisite views of the Bundi Palace and fort.

When we wanted to visit Bundi, the owner of the hotel and the other people of the staff gave us excellent directions and a map with all the attractions you should visit. They are really helpfull.

Only one minor downside. As I said, they dont provide a menu for dinner but they just propose something that they will cook for you. We did this 2 nights in a row, and although the food was good, it proved to be a bit pricy to Indian norms. so keep this in mind.

But all in all we loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. Go for it!

We really liked Bundi where my wife and I spent 3 days as part of a two week trip to Rajasthan in early April 2009. However, despite my extensive research I chose badly with the Bundi Haveli. The room (we had their most expensive 'haveli suite') was large and nicely decorated but what really let the place down was the appalling service. It may be because the peak season was over and the core staff had been laid off but that didn't help us since it was our one and only visit to Bundi. Note also that although the Bundi Haveli describes itself as a Heritage Hotel it's actually new.

We could tell the service was going to be bad as soon as we arrived so decided not to eat at the Bundi Haveli and therefore can't comment on their food. We found several good places to eat though and recommend the Kasera Paradise (for the food), Braj Bhushanjee (for character and history) and Uma Megh (for the garden and views). In fact the Kasera Paradise was probably the best meal of our two weeks. Note that almost all restaurants are veg and most serve no alcohol (and if they do it's beer only)

Three nights gave us enough time to use the services of Aravind to visit the 7,000 year old rock paintings at the village of Garardha (cost 1200 rupees for car, driver and Aravind as our guide). I'd strongly recommend him: he's based very close to the Palace.

Bundi itself is a fascinating town to wander round and not too touristy (not in comparison to somwehere like Udaipur anyway). The Palace, which was only opened 5 years ago having been closed for the previous 57 years, is fascinating.

We saw the rooms at the Kasera Paradise (1500 rupees a night) and Braj Bhushanjee (up to 3500 rupees a night) and both look good. The owners of both are charning and very helpful. I believe Bundi Vilas also comes recommended.

Bundi has very little choice in terms of good hotels. The Bundi Haveli was clean and functional although we had to argue for a reasonable room. The first room that we were offered was very basic. The a la carte evening menu was quite acceptable and the breakfast offering basic. The staff was quite friendly after the initial exchange about rooms.

I was really looking forward to stay in Bundi, but I can honestly say it was the most disappointing place we stayed at during our 4 week trip. The town is a provincial little place with some hardcore fanatic backward thinking muslims, they dont really give the impression they like strangers/tourist in their town, wich makes you feel a bit unwelcome. I do have to mention; there was a lovely owner of a coffeeshop on the mainroad in the forttown, Hindustani so probably thats why he and his family where so much nicer then most people we encountered in this predominantly muslim town. i dont meen to sound hatefull or disrespectfull towards any religion; just my experience of Bundi. If you ask me the only real reason to come here would be the abbandoned fort and palace on the top of the hill. But if you dont need to stop here, I would say give it a miss.

Then for the haveli itself; I have had contact before we travelled to India concerning arranging a car to take us from the haveli to Kota Junction at 5:15 in the morning. It was all confirmed with time and date by the hotel. When we arrived and I checked to make sure, noone seemed to know about it. I explained I have send emails before and got confirmation allready they went to check and gave me a different price for the service because it was at night. Completely ridiculous as I had mentioned date and time in previous emails and got the initial amount confirmed. Its not about the money, its only 100 roepies difference, but the management is clearly poor at this place. Even when they confirmed that I had gotten the initial amount confirmed, they would not change the price. I insisted to pay 900 roepies and eventually tipped the driver the 100 anyway, but the whole deal left a bad impression on us.

Oh and did I mention the daily powercuts between 7 and 9 am (???) and breakfast was not included at 2500 INR for a pretty basic room....no surely wont come back.

When planning to visit a relatively out-of-the -way town like Bundi, you do it on the basis that hotel standards are unlikely to reach the peaks of thos ein larger more travelled locations.

Nevertheless our first glance at this hotel said to us that we should no be here. From tacky reception to derisory lounge to a restaurant that consisted of a few bare tables with no sign of action meant that out room wasn't much of a surprise. No hot water to the sink; a shower that wouldn't send water more than a few inches from the wall, a leak which meant we had to turn off the cold water by a secondary tap to avoid a puddle on the floor. Sorry, not for us. We found somewhere better and moved out. We were told that in the past the Haveli had been a good. well-managed hotel. Well not any more it seems. Avoid.
