Very good place to stay. Spacious rooms. Wonderfully decorated washroom with modern fittings. Well behaved and helpful staffs. Food was very tasty and were served on elegant crockeries. The location of the hotel is very good, approximately 1.5km from the fort ( Sonar Kella). Excellent place to stay.
This is a nice place to stay for anyone looking to visit the bird sanctuary in Bharatpur. Rooms are clean and spacious and the restaurant offers decent Indian food as well as some continental dishes All the rooms were large, light , well furnished and very clean. We very much enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel. After the noise and bustle of Delhi and Agra it was a great place to relax in.
I arrived by rickshaw from Bharatpur station at 2:30 am and it was hard to find, as it is on an unlit stretch of National Highway 11 and the hotel name board near the road is not lit up, so I had to get down and walk over to read it by moonlight. Like most of the hotels here, it’s set well back from the road behind locked gates, but fortunately there was a watchman in the guard post and I was able to get in. I had knocked on the gates of a few other hotels to ask directions, but none of them had a watchman on duty. If you are going to arrive in Bharatpur at night, it’s best to make sure they know when you are coming and have a watchman at the gate. I thought this place was a bit overpriced at A$81 ( about Rs4,400) for 2 nights without breakfast. My room was close to the reception desk and clean, the free wifi worked well, the bed was comfortable, and there was good hot water in the shower ( but not the hand basin), but the bathroom floor was slippery and stayed wet all day. The building looks impressive from the front, but my room was very plain and tgere were no English channels on the flat screen TV. After 2 nights here I moved to the Park Regency Hotel which is closer to the bird park, has a higher standard of amenity and includes a free breakfast. On my last visit in 2008 I stayed at the Kadamb Kunj Hotel, which is also better than Sonar Haveli.…
1. Food: They cook good food, deliver at rooms at no extra charges and in a fairly quick manner. No non-veg was a turn down for us though. 2. Rooms: Big spacious rooms. Decent in-room facilities (considering the room rates) 3. Hospitality: Well behaved hotel staff (all of them we interacted with) 4. Distance from Bird sanctuary: Stone throw distance. By car not more than 5-7 min (I usually drive quick) 5. Checkin/check out - pretty smooth. I had booked it through agoda.
Hotel sonar havelli is a perfect place to go with family. Went there last week...very efficient and cooperative staff. Very good and big rooms with neat and clean bathrooms. Food is good. Must thank Mr. Brijesh for his cooperation.
Sonar Haweli is about a Kilometre or so from the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. The exteriors are reminiscent of a heritage property, but the interiors are nowhere close to that. However, the rooms are spacious and fairly clean (washrooms need a bit better maintenance). The staff is kind, well-mannered and courteous. Washrooms have water that is too salty (not sure if that's the hotel's fault). The property has a fairly large parking space and an open lawn (be careful of the mosquitos at night, not in the rooms though, only in the lawn). The crowd is generally consisting of tourist families. We had to pay for the breakfast, as it wasn't included. We paid around ₹ 800/- for a hearty breakfast for 4. All in all, there is nothing fancy about this place, but still, manages to give you a comfortable budget stay with a few glitches here and there (please do remember that there is nothing lavish or fancy about this place, hence, it would work in case there are no better options)…
Everything is good exept two things:- .the water is salty, not right for bathing or washing hands. .the rooms are not so good,tv is so small. Things which are good:- Staff is friendly .building is vintage Etc.........
Purpose is interesting. You build up a big new structure close to the national park and start a business. If you look around loads of people are doing the same. Hospitality and tourism though require a bit more effort and care. The point is that you cannot put dirty towels in the toilette and no cover sheet on the bed but just a blanket! No payment by card accepted can be a huge minus for many guests during these times. We give 2/5 because the restaurant was not bad for quality. Plan/book in advance and get a better place; to be honest you can even consider to do the park visit during the day and then move to your next city to sleep over.
This was not we expected. Most haveli we stayed in were very nice but this one let down their reputations. The front area was being turned into a huge car park, so the garden was gone. However, that was secondary to the hotel itself and to say it was basic is being generous. Thank goodness we were given a room at the back away from the horrendous road noise but that was about it. The room was large with old tired looking furniture and plaster off the walls. The bed was uncomfortable with a thin mattress, pillows even thinner and linen rather grey. In the cupboards were cheap blankets that had a musty damp smell but the room did appear clean. There was a very small balcony but beware - the balustrade only came up to my knees and to fall over would be easy. It overlooked the outdoor tandoor and barbecue area but as I was looking out a cow was enjoying licking the tables and around the tandoor. Unfortunately we had already eaten an evening meal (ropey) and certainly didn't stay for breakfast! The bathroom is actually a huge wet room and extremely dangerous. The floor tiles are polished ceramics and as the drain is in the opposite corner to the shower, it makes the whole of the floor very, very slippery. We had to use a bath towel to prevent any accidents. I know other reviewers have been satisfied with their stays but I can truly say I am not being picky. …
Sonar Haveli is easy to spot and very close to the bird sanctuary. The staff are very courteous and helpful. What really stands out about this place is the size of the rooms! They are MASSIVE and can easily fit 5 adults comfortably in it...although only two are allowed to stay. The restaurant has some good local food too.
