Hotel Fort Madhogarh was my absolute favourite hotel during my tour of India. If you like bland corporate business hotels, then you’ll probably hate it. But if you’re open to new experiences, and appreciate it for what it is, then you too will love this hotel. All the rooms are unique, and pretty basic. But perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Admittedly they are in need of updating, but I felt the basic amenities added to the charm of the property. There is no WiFi - which I personally really enjoyed. I loved the fact that I could just completely disconnect and embrace my surroundings. Some reviewers have complained about how uncomfortable the beds were. I had no issues with my bed, in fact I quite enjoyed the firmer mattress as it’s better for my back. All meals are provided at the hotel, as there are no restaurants nearby. There wasn’t a huge amount of choice at meal times, but all the food was delicious. You could also purchase drinks (including alcohol) at an additional cost. I also really enjoyed walking around the village and meeting all the friendly locals. Lastly, I just want to say how wonderful the staff at the hotel were. Even if there was sometimes a language barrier, they were all super attentive and very helpful.

The more elaborate rooms are round the main courtyard on level 1, but there are only a couple and they are doubles. If you want a twin the decor is more basic but the rooms we viewed were big and adequately furnished good if you like a firm bed. Each room had its own water heater so you jus had to turn it on a bit before you wanted hot water. Meals, lunch, dinner and breakfast were good, only a small choice, buffet style, but plenty of it. A drink on top of the tower watching the sunset finished off a great day. For our evening meal we all got dressed up in local attire.

Our room was big, basically furnished and had comfortable beds. Done of the other rooms were more elaborate. Plenty of hot water but did not try the shower as we felt that owing to our height that water would inevitably splash onto some electric cables above. Sadly the bath was in need of replacing so we did not use it. This is the reason for my lower rating. Service was good. Dinner was tasty and plentiful. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Fabulous to have this overlooking the surrounding countryside with the sun rising. A relaxing and peaceful stay in a lovely piece of history.

Stayed here mid November.2019 For me it was a taste of the real India.and its history When else could you stay in a 400 year old fort on top of a hill The current owner came to speak to us regards the history of the fort and his plans for its complete refurbishment. This was arranged by Intrepid fo our group and I must say was a lovely gesture. The rooms were authentic to what its design was intended. Yes the water was a bit erratic and the bathrooms perhaps need a bit more work.Don't apply western standards when in India is a good gauge in some of the older heritage stays . This is the real thing The fort had a beautiful courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served . Staff are very attentive and food was excellent. i loved my stay here. The views from the top of the fort on the high terrace where we had drinks or could just stop to enjoy the views will always stay in my psyche . Watching the sunrise or the sunset from this vantage point was just surreal and worth staying up for or getting up early to listen to the call for prayer The village below was delightful and worth a visit .

This had to be one of the highlights of the Indian trip. A 400 year old fortress on top of a hill, the building itself is absolutely stunning and the rooms are amazing. There is a lovely courtyard area in the middle where we had lunch and dinner, and an equally beautiful terrace high on the walls where we had breakfast and drinks. The food is excellent. There is currently no wi-fi and the hot water supply to some of the rooms is a bit erratic, but believe me these are very small prices to pay for something so incredible. The staff are all delightful. There's a fascinating little village at the foot of the hill and a lovely area to walk around.
