Ranjitvillas proved to be a great location for visiting Amritsar - if you happen to have your own transport. It is far enough away from the centre to avoid all the hustle and bustle but also provides very easy access to the airport. I was fortunate enough to have a suit and enjoyed its size, situation and service provided while there. Staff were friendly and accommodating. All in all a very enjoyable 2 night stay.
Beautiful huge room with plentiful storage, large bathroom and little private terrace. Staff helpful and pleasant. We arrived after a large party the night before so had ran out of beer and another private dinner taking place outside. Restaurant in hotel a little underwhelming so decided to eat in town. Hotel offered free lift which was good. About a 20min taxi drive into town - no restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast was adequate with freshly cooked food on offer
We stayed here for 5 nights on a trip of the north. Great location, not far at all from the airport and a short tuk-tuk or taxi ride into town (but far enough away from the hustle and bustle). Set in a very nice residential area, this Heritage Hotel has been designed in the style on an old village, with "street signs" showing the way to the different rooms. Each (large) room has been done out with beautifully carved furniture and doors, and comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were picked from the airport (late due to flight delays) by Manjeep Singh and were soon dropped off at the hotel. Midnight by now, so straight to bed after booking a driver for a full day tour the next day. Gopinder Singh (Gopi) was our driver and guide the next day and he was very good - a careful, considerate driver who, unusually, refrained from using the car horn at every opportunity and even used his indicators - one in a million. He took us to all of the sights and as he is a part time volunteer at the Golden Temple, he took us into some of the parts that we probably wouldn't have dared to go into alone. Having him as a guide was definitely the best thing we could have done that day, so we booked him again from half a day on the following day and did some more sightseeing. He was very friendly and informative, and I would recommend you ask for him if you ever stay at this hotel. (If you do have Gopi as your driver, ask him about his childhood and growing up - a heartbreaking story with a fantastic twist). Back to the hotel - the breakfasts were very good and the waiters would offer you all sorts - pakoras, parathas, eggs any way you like, pancakes etc etc. This was on top of the dhals, curries, fruit, toast and cereals that were on offer each morning. We ate one evening from the BBQ and it was fantastic - superb meats in luscious sauces. Unfortunately, it started to rain, so we all went inside, but by the time we had finished, so had the rain, so we spent some time in the courtyard enjoying a large Old Monk rum while sitting by the open fire. Lovely hotel and I would certainly recommend it.…
A lovely hotel - would definitely choose to stay here again, if life brings me back to Amritsar - and I hope it does! This hotel is a welcome change from the reliable but souless chains. Ranjit Vilas has been thoughtfully designed, with spacious rooms and bathrooms and gorgeous handcrafted wooden doors and furniture. Our room ( and I think all of them) have an outdoor seating space, which is a nice touch. The setting is peaceful, which is a nice retreat after the bustle and action of Amritsar, so we slept very well indeed. But it is also handy for the airport. The food is excellent as well - great home cooked food and delicious breakfasts. So here's to the team at RanjitVilas - I hope to return one day.
Ranjitvilas is an awesome experience from the word go. The traditional rustic look with modern facilities are an experience to be cherished. Each room, suite has its own unique identity .Fantasic food as well.
