The most beautiful, serene place I've ever been to. You'll want to spend at least 2-3 days in Amritsar, and take in the Temple during the day as well as at night. Absolutely breath-taking, and welcomes people from all walks of life. During the busiest times, it can take an hour or two of waiting to get across the gilded...

Staff very helpful. Frequent power cuts, but when electricity was on WiFi worked well. Back up generator only powers a few lights. Hot water all day. Close gates around 10:30pm, but will open if you ring the bell although you do feel bad waking them up. About 10min walk from train and bus stations. Main downside is the food. Expensive,...

Railway station/ Bus stand is less than 1 km away. Golden Temple 2.5 kms away. Hall Bazar 1 km. Luxury buses stop 500m. What else one wants from this place? Rooms are pretty big in size and they have their own pantry that cooks delicious food. I got myself a double AC room (2 double bed) with common bathroom. One...

Our bedroom was massive in this interesting maze of a guest house. The location isn't great in terms of noise, but its proximity to local dhabas, train and bus station and the attractions of Amritsar made up for it. As did the friendly staff and the free filtered water. Comfortable bed and a fan and a cooler made the room...

I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a solo trip to India. Basic rooms with essential, decent air conditioning. It was very hot and humid in Amritsar in July and was nice to come back to room to shower and cool off. Decent location with street food available near by. About a 30 minute walk to the Golden...

We stayed one night here, on recommendation from the latest edition of the Lonely Planet guidebook which makes it sound like a safe budget option. Despite booking online and informing the guest house of when we would be arriving, the room had not been cleaned yet - and when we were informed that it had been, it was only 'clean'...

Enjoyed my time here, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were big and clean. The bathroom was also big and hot water was available! Arrived at 4 am but was not a problem as there is a night porter. Only problem was it was a bit loud at night due to it being next to the train track. Overall, it...

Ate here the first night. What followed was fever, vomiting and the rest starting 3am. The following day as we checked out we told the manager. He looked us with a vague look and shrug his shoulders!!! It has taken me a full week of antibiotics to get over this disaster. Please don't ever stay here, there are places just...

I have traveled for 5 months around India on a budget. From the rail station I had to walk 15 minutes (very easy) to get to the guest house, which is on a main noisy road, but, once you are inside the courtyard, it is pretty quite. I was allocated a single room with private bathroom. both were basic but...
