Mistletoe Munnar is a boutique, premium home stay having five well furnished rooms with private balcony; overlooking the magnificent Chokkanmudi peaks, Lakchmi hills and Kanan Devan plantations of Munnar. This home stay features a traditional clay oven bakery, a cute cafe, small library and plenty of warmth and care from a typical Kerala Syrian Christian family. Mistletoe Munnar is situated at Iruttukanam, on Kochi – Dhanushkodi, NH 49. The driving distance to Munnar via NH is only 16 kms and via Anachal By pass is 14 kms only. It is located between Munnar and Adimaly, ideally at the gateway junction to the Kanan Devan hills of Munnar. Cochin International Airport is only 95 kms away from Mistletoe at a driving duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The nearest town is Adimaly, the famous hub for spice trading in Idukki district, and it offers all health care and emergency services. The concept of Mistletoe Munnar has been germinated through several years of passionate desire to offer a value for money real hospitality experience to discerning travelers both international and domestic. The name Mistletoe Munnar has a lot of significance. Mistletoe as a herb, flower has epical attributes in Greek and European mythology and culture. Mistletoe has been attributed as good omen for love, romance, warm family life and relationships, prosperity from time immemorial especially in the medieval European era. Here in our context, every room in the house has a spacious balcony that faces the Lakchmi and Chokkanmudi peaks of the Kanan Devan Hills. One can visualize and be part of the unending romance between the ever relaxing Lakchmi on semi laying position on the north and the Chokkan Mudi peaks with all his magnificence at her footsteps on east, appreciating her natural curves and lush greenery, silvery streaks of water falls on her large bosom. The traditional bake oven & cafe is also the main and characteristic place in the home stay, where baking has been a family business for years. Here one could taste freshly made breads, cakes, cookies and experience baking by learning the basic steps of traditional baking – where the fuel has been always firewood or similar natural fuels like coconut shell, etc. The guests would have a privileged feeling of staying with a baker’s family and enjoying their simplicity of life and hospitality. Local attractions and in-house activities: Apart from the popular hot spots and landscapes of Munnar such as Mattupetty, Iravikulam, Tea Museum, etc the following are some of the local attractions close to Mistletoe Munnar: Elephant Camp , having more than a 6 to 8 elephants is only 250 meters from this home stay Spice and Kerala handicraft shop for shopping Chengulam Lake is only 5 kms from where you can experience speed boat, pedal boat riding experience as well as fishing, and it is popular picnic spot for families and couples to spend some quality time. Absolutely loved my stay! From the moment I checked in, till the check out, every single moment spent here was worth it all. The attention to detail in the room decor was impeccable, every single corner of this homestay decorated very elegantly. You can see simplicity with luxury. The room was spacious, neat and clean, bathroom was having all required toiletries, you will be invited with a spacious balcony overlooking to the forest and mountain. The USP of this homestay is its host Mr. Joe, a thorough gentleman, very friendly and always one step ahead to help you with any advices which one might be looking for as a guest- be it tourist destination, choice of food anything. Second USP is the lip smacking food during breakfast and dinner. The tropical fruits served during everyday breakfast was something you will love like anything, it was full of papaya, litchi, jackfruit, lemon, guava, pineapple and all are from their own farm grown. One must try the Chicken curry, it was surprisingly tasty. Third USP is the abundance birds available at the backyard. Birders will not be disappointed for sure. Now most important is, its a nice cozy beautiful homestay which is run by Mr Joe and his family. They take care of their customer with all standard facilities like relaxed and peaceful stay, super tasty food, quiet decent wifi and other basic amenities. But one must not misjudge it with hotel or resort, so you need to respect their basic regulations in terms of timing. Its simple and helpful for both the party. Lastly I would like to convey my sincere gratitude and lots of love and best wishes to team Mistletoe homestay for their outstanding hospitality. I strongly recommend to the people to experience this property who wants a relaxed stress free simple homely stay at Munnar. Some poster of the property could be a help for people like me for a better guidance as it's possible to miss the location while driving.

This stay was incredible! My sister and I took the chance to stay here during monsoon season, and we would come back in a heartbeat! Joe and his family were kind, helpful hosts and truly went above and beyond. The rooms are just what they look like online, comfortable and clean with beautiful balconies overlooking the mountains! The food was delicious and the portions are quite generous for the price. In our opinion, skip Fort Kochi and just come to Munnar! There’s so much to do near the homestay and Joe helped manage our transport everywhere based on what we had in mind to visit. Tea and spice fields (and Joe knows which ones are less commercialized!), countless viewpoints of the mountains that feel unreal, and even zip lining close by! Also the view from the homestay is breathtaking!! Definitely would recommend this to anyone hoping for a refreshing, personal, and reasonably priced stay in Munnar!

We had 3 nights in Mistletoe, sadly that wasn't enough. The whole time we were there was wonderful. Joe and his family were so welcoming and hospitable. The room was perfect with an incredible view. The home cooked food was delicious and there were plenty of choices. Day trips were arranged for us and the family were very knowledgeable and a delight to talk to. We had a relaxing stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if were visiting Munnar. Thank you

This homestay is run by a Christian family belonging to the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Very humble God fearing family….The hospitality is beyond words can express….They looked after us very well….The children are well behaved and very helpful….Loved the conversation with the owner….Made us feel at home. The highlight of this homestay is the food….The owner’s mother’s cooking is excellent….every food she prepared was delicious….She should be given a Michelin Star…. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained….The views from the balcony are mesmerising…. This homestay is located in Iruttukanam village in Idukki District of Kerala….The nearest town is Adimali which is around 10kms from the homestay….The hill station “ Munnar Town “ is 20 kms from this homestay..,,

I stayed at Mistletoe Homestay for four nights as a solo female traveller. Choosing mistletoe Homestay was the best decision I made for my trip in Kerala and it is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. I had picked up a stomach bug in Mumbai and was quite unwell while at mistletoe. This was not an issue as Joe took the most amazing care of me. He assisted me in seeing a doctor and made sure I was fed and comfortable for my entire stay. I cannot thank him enough. You will not regret staying at mistletoe. I can’t wait to visit again!

Our three nights at the Mistletoe Munnar homestay were truly enjoyable. Joe was a thoughtful, attentive, gracious host. Even with our early morning arrival at 5:00 AM, he was there to greet us (🙏🏻). We highly recommend taking the hike through the tea plantations and down into Old Munnar. The sites and vantage points are incomparable! Although the homestay is outside of Munnar town, it’s very easy to get around.

My sister, mother and I stayed at Mistletoe honestly for three nights at the beginning of April. We absolutely adored our stay! The food was delicious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the service was really wonderful. The home cooked meals were really tasty and the portions were great for our smaller appetites!! Joe and his family were friendly and professional - Joe helped us book a few activities in and around Munnar and he seems to have great contacts in the tourism industry. I really appreciated the eco-conscious approach to the home stay with solar powered water heating, bio-gas from food waste used to cook our food, as well their beautiful gardens and plantation. I would highly suggest anyone who wants a quiet and comfortable stay to book with Mistletoe!

We stayed at Mistletoe for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. Joe and his family were very welcoming. Their kids were so lovely. The rooms were spacious and equipped, we especially liked our view of the fruit and spice plantations overlooking the mountains. Mistletoe is a tranquil space perfect for relaxing. The food was delicious and prepared freshly. My personal favourite was their salads especially the avocado salad ;) and their freshly prepared pizza in their stone oven. Joe also organised a tailored trip around the local tea plantations which was really enjoyable with a stop over at the tiger cave. He gave us a lot of information about Munnar’s history and general life in Munnar. Thank you Mistletoe for your kind welcome and making our stay so comfortable.

We had the best time at Joe and his family’s Homestay! The location is perfectly quiet, the sunrise is beautiful, the house and rooms are great. Most of all, we enjoyed the hospitality of Joe and his sons: from perfect service to sharing stories about Munnar and kerala culture to arranging nice bike and hike guide for us. Also, we specifically appreciated all the efforts that went into sustainability at Mistletoe: glass bottles for water, locally grown coffee and tea and chocolate etc. Joe also was so kind to share many interesting tips during a cooking class! We would definitely come back and recommend!!
