My friend and I stayed with Tomy, Raji and family for 2 brilliant nights. What a paradise up in the hills, with the most beautiful gardens. Tomy, Raji and family were so welcoming and kind and helped us with everything we needed including onward travel recommendations and arranging things in the area. Raji’s cooking is worth the trip alone, so much fresh produce from the garden and the water is entirely solar heated and gas created from bio waste. Then there are the gardens themselves - Tomy is a botanist genius and always delighted to show you round his +500 species of plant which have been lovingly cultivated over the years. Staying at Rosegardens is an absolute treat from start to finish. Thank you all for a very special stay.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights here. It is a very comfortable experience, staying in Tomy's house, as he, his wife and son take great care of you. It reminds me of the Marigold Hotel TV programme, as your evening meal is served at a large dining table, where you may converse with the 8 other guests who will be staying there at the same time. As this is an upmarket place and therefore expensive for India, the people who stay here are good conversationalists and know what to expect (that's what I found anyway), so it is much more than just accommodation. You become part of the household. The food is good (Indian) - dinner costs Rs300 pp. Rose Gardens has an interesting garden, where cardamom, coffee, etc etc is grown - you can have a free tour around it in the afternoon. From the house there is a nice walk downhill through trees and cardamom plants. Rosegardens has its own drivers who can take you on tours. It is likely you will avail yourself of this. It is quiet and relaxing - you could just relax on your balcony instead. You can get a bus there from Ernakulam, where there is a train station or a Rosegardens driver can collect you. It is not too hot in Munnar either. The lasting memories are of the smiling faces of the family and the comfortable house you stay in.

What an incredible welcome to our time in India! Tomy, Deepak, Raji, and their family made us feel so welcome.

The room is spacious and clean, and we spent much of our time at the home stay relaxing on the balcony, the sounds of birds providing the soundtrack to our stay (Deepak provided us with binoculars and a bird book but our naturalist skills mostly eluded us).

The gardens and grounds provide flowers, fruit, vegetables, and spices enjoyed both by humans for breakfast and dinner, but also by the aforementioned birds, as well as monkeys and squirrels we saw.

Activities and arrival/departure transportation are easily and flexibly arranged, with many thanks to their driver Sabu for pointing out different points of interest and trying to spot us very elusive wild elephants! (Sadly unsuccessful but we will keep looking)

Like so many places in India - the people are wonderful but the place itself needs attention.

The owners of this 5 bedroom homestay are welcoming, helpful and attentive. The food is excellent and the property is located a safe distance away from the hustle and bustle of Munnar itself.

If you booking a room make sure you ask for one of the rooms at the back. The front room faces the main road and offers little privacy.

The bedrooms are clean but tired and the bathrooms need attention.

Rose Gardens is well away from the honking horns and dust of Munnar, which made it a peaceful, comfortable place to stay. The hosts were very helpful, the food some of the best we had in India, and chatting over meals with the other guests was fun. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Our basement room was very quiet and the king-sized bed was comfortable.

We stayed at Rose Gardens Homestay for two nights and felt we should have stayed longer. The homestay is a charming cottage, very spacious inside, run by a warm and welcoming family who made our stay at Munnar really comfortable. The rooms were spacious with lots of natural light and well equipped with amenities like tea, coffee, electric kettle, drinking water, etc. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and well-maintained. The view from the rooms was mesmerizing. Breakfast served was delicious with home-grown fruits and vegetables and home made butter and jam. The buffet style dinner was equally fulfilling with delicious home-cooked food. The family also runs a huge nursery with hundreds of plants which Dileep very kindly walked us through. He also took us around their huge garden.

There is a Kathakali centre about 2.5 kms away from the property where we had the opportunity to watch Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performances.

For anyone traveling to Munnar, Rose Gardens Homestay is highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed here during a 3 month trip around India. We had spent a lot of time at different homestays, hostels and restaurants in Kerala. Rosegardens is clearly a step ahead of most other places in the same price bracket.
We arrived very early in the morning on an overnight bus. Dileep was extremely helpful - he even spoke to the bus conductor to make sure we were dropped off in the right place.
Dileep met us off the bus even though it was 5am!
We were made to feel extremely welcome by the family and the homestay was well worth the long overnight bus journey.

The fantastic food is all homemade, largely using ingredients grown in their garden and is absolutely delicious - some of the best food we ate in Kerala. The coffee is also homegrown!

We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms and it was lovely. Very spacious with a nice en suite and it was spotless. By far the cleanest room we had stayed in. We slept like logs!

Extremely kind family and had lots of lovely and interesting chats with them.

The family were very knowledgeable in suggesting activites and were extremely helpful in booking/arranging things for us.

Could not recommend this place more highly, they have made a beautiful homestay and I wish them all the very best.

Sadly we have only had 2 nights to enjoy Rose Gardens, but with the help of Tony's wonderful family have filled them to the full. They sent their car to collect us, recommended and organised transport for a beautiful hike through tea and cardamom plantations. We have visited their beautiful gardens, seen wildlife from our balcony and enjoyed a cooking lesson. The rooms are large and comfortable and the food is delicious. We hope to be back before too long.

We have just had three days at the most delightful Rosegardens eco-homestay and met the whole family who each contributed to a most enjoyable stay. We were treated to delicious breakfasts of garden fresh pineapple, bananas and passionfruit , pancakes, homemade jam along with honey and freshly roasted coffee from the property. Take the garden tour and don’t miss the home cooked evening meals that are shared with other guests and if you are lucky a cooking class with Raji. There is a wealth of information for local activities and everyone is so helpful- they go “the extra mile”
Overall a great place to stay. Thank you Mr Tony and Raji and sons. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay at Rose Gardens Homestay. A superb and very relaxing semi rural location on the outskirts of Munnar and such a pleasure to meet Dileep and his family who went out of their way to ensure a fantastic experience of Munnar. Spacious well appointed bedrooms, beautiful breakfasts on the balcony were a highlight and the outstanding home cooked evening meals. Had a super day tour with Dileep through the tea plantations to the Top Station and even saw wild elephants. Absolutely recommend Rose Gardens to any visitors to Munnar looking for a very special experience.
