The homestay is located in main town which is accessible to main road. But the only problem is it is located in mountain high so need to walk from ground around 200m. Another route having road and nearby car parking but quite distance. Apart from this, it is a good homestay for couples. The ambience of the stay and garden area, you'll definitely love it. Rooms are pretty clean and decent. Speaking about bathroom is too good with 24x7 hot water. Property owner is so kind and about the caretaker Mr.Kapil is also kind and helpful.
Rheinberg Town Haus is above the town, and is in a peaceful situation, with a lovely little garden. I loved my room. The bed was so comfortable and everything was so clean. Excellent bathroom. The owner Mr Jacob is a lovely man and his staff Kapil so helpful. I felt really at home there. Only 5 min walk down the hill into the town centre. Higly recommended.
This guesthouse is run by a caretaker with no involvement by the owner who lives on the property. The rooms are rundown, the lighting is awful, there is no fan so no air circulation, the blankets are dirty and the towels are worn out. The tap in the bathroom was leaking and the caretaker appeared to be aware of the problem but could not be bothered fixing it. They do not provide a bottle of water and the subscription for the television channels had expired so the television was of no use. The place is run with an element of extreme frugality which is very obvious from the state of the rooms, dirty cables, crooked light fittings, broken door latches and grotty towels. There is continuous chanting from the temple nearby and the call for prayer from the neighbouring mosque is very loud. Munnar town is filthy and crowded and the recommended restaurant had very poor hygiene. We booked to stay three nights but left after just one as we felt uncomfortable from the minute we arrived. I do not recommend this place at all to anybody. It was the worst aspect of our holiday in Kerala.…
A beautiful clean property. Surrounded with beautiful flowers with a nice garden on the hill. Peaceful location well maintained n very clean. Owner is responsive on phone. Tea was served at a reasonable price. But food options could have been an added advantage. Extra bed was provided on request. Room was comfortable. Parking is little far. Due to which our taxi driver had to face a little trouble during night to use toilet facility.
We only stayed here for night and I have to say I was glad it was only the one night. The room was large, had a chess board (although pieces missing) and the shower was hot. However when we separated the 3 covers on the bed they were not clean in the middle. There was also a small (nibbled out) hole in the bathroom ceiling which was quite unsettling. I did not sleep well here due to the occasional noise of an animal in the ceiling and then the church music starting around 5am (Sunday). The caretaker was friendly when we saw him but it generally didn’t feel like anyone was around. I wouldn’t advise staying here if you are alone as the walk back to the accommodation at night is pretty dark and there are very few people around.
My friend and I were brought here by a rickshaw driver as we were struggling to find a restaurant with WiFi to search places to stay. We expressed that we 100% needed somewhere with WiFi as we needed to organise the next steps of our trip - we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the garden was lovely and room was clean and spacious. We went out for food before planning to come back and organise our onward travels, however when we came back there was absolutely no one to be found in/around the building. The WiFi we were given had been turned off and another one turned on, with a different password. We walked around everywhere trying to find someone, but there was no one. We even when next door to ask. We had been given no information at all and weren't told the owner would be going out or how to contact anyone in an emergency. We appreciate the only issue we had was with the WiFi, but we specifically expressed that the one thing we needed that evening was WiFi - but it was a little disconcerting that there was no one to be found at all, as what if there was a more serious issue? After a while of searching and hoping someone would return, we left a note on a door to ask the manager to come to our room when they get back - however no one arrived until about 8am the next morning, by which point we were checking out. We explained our issues to the manager but he did not seem to care and did not apologise. He said he had just gone for food, and didn't see the problem when we explained that we didn't know that and hadn't been given any contact info. He got quite angry with us and I had to ask him to let me finish explaining/my sentence. In the end he agreed to reduce our bill by 200rs, down to 1300rs but after ALOT of discussion and he was very very unhappy with it and proceeded to sulk. It was a shame as the accommodation is quite nice but we thought the customer service was very poor and unprofessional.…
Hi All, I travelled to munnar from 17th to 19th february with family including kid. I stayed in Rheinberg homestay. It is located near caramel church in the center of town with plenty of food, shopping options at couple of minutes way. The homestay is beautifully decorated with flower garden. It is clean and well maintained by mr. Kapil. He will assist on all travel plans. I recommend this to everyone coming to munnar. Pros: 1. Nice location, all things nearby 2. Clean and beautiful 3. Mr Kapil is very nice and take care of all your needs 4. Rooms are good bathroom with 24 hrs hot water. Cons: Nothing major only 1. Food not avaiable in homestay but who cares when u have so many good food options very nearby. Try mahabir resturent veg fried rice and honey chillo potato dry. It is just awesome. 2. Little bit of walking ( coupe of minutes ) required to reach homestay from main road but it is nothing compared to the hospitality of the homestay. Enjoy your stay here...😀😀😀…
We booked this property but in fact did not check in. The location was really not suitable for a person with a physical handicap. In all fairness the room/bathroom looked clean but basic - the gardens well maintained. The owner agreed to cancel without any problems ..... Great for the "younger generation"
Rheinberg has a great location above Munnar town. The homestay is ideal if you want to stay close to the town with the majority of home stays situated in the mountains surrounding the town. The walk from the town to the homestay is not as severe as other reviews have suggested and you have the benefit of a great view over the town. The rooms are basic but have everything that we needed for the little time we spent there. Overall we enjoyed our brief (1 night) stay and felt that it was great value.
We traveled to Munnar in Sept with my eight-month-old infant and 3 years old daughter. Initially, we were worried about to manage the food for kids but the person (Kapil) @ Rheinberg helps us a lot and given access to a kitchen to prepare food for an infant. We really thankful to Kapil who carry our luggage from and up to the car. Rooms are very clean and spacious also garden next to rooms are maintained nicely. We definitely recommend this place especially for good service and peace of mind.
