Hemant Sharma wrote a review Dec 2021

Stayed here for 4 Days and 3 nights and it was an amazing experience. Here is my detailed review-:

Location: Located around 10 km before Munnar and is easy to reach. Although the actual property is around 1 KM away from the main road and has a steep road with few curves. We were with our driver so did not find an issue although one may face some challenge to drive through.

Ambience: Amazing lush green place with a huge plantation of cardamom. One of the finest place to stay at Munnar if you are looking for an accommodation that is peaceful, away from city and yet beautiful. One can sit at the backyard (with every cottage) for hours, literally hours. I was in love with this place.

Cottages: They have 8 cottages and 2 cottages are attached (with common wall) and shares the same seating area (backyard). So you may have to cope with other guests as well. Although we were just alone for 2 days and it was so amazing! I loved the design of the cottages, You wont feel it as India as soon as you see them. Beautifully crafted and feels like heaven. Although as every place this too needs a bit of maintenance, wall paints were off at some places and door latches needs a bit of alignment. This shouldn't be a problem but I just wanted to highlight.

Staff: Excellent and courteous staff Although you may find it difficult to communicate as one of them only understands few English words and no Hindi. One of them is fluent in Hindi so was great for us. The GM (Sorry I forgot his name) was a happy soul, super helpful and cares for his guests.

Food: Food was above average for me. Wont consider it very great but was descent. Although worth mentioning that the single portion is adequate for 2 pax So please order accordingly, We did not know and ended up wasting so much food. Tip: Do not take a lunch/dinner package if they are not serving buffet. The food prices are quite reasonable (compared to metro cities) and including it in a package is not worth (if not served as buffet)

Positives: They offer you a free walk to their Cardamom plantations (It is tiring if you don't workout) and also walk you through the process of preparing coffee and cardamom (to be sold in market). Overall a great place and a great experience to be with your loved ones.
Usually other hotels charges you for morning tea and coffees if you order one separately in rooms, but they did not which for me is a good gesture.

Negatives: Since there are so many trees, so you may have to share your room with some bugs/spiders. For us there were 2 big spiders (really big) in the room which I got rid of by capturing them in a polythene bag and freeing them outside. No objections with the hotel management its an encounter that may happen.
The place may seem spooky at night again due to its location and lack of maintenance of backyard bulbs.

Overall an excellent place to stay at if you are a nature lover!

Had a lovely stay at this small homestay. You could get more friendly people - everyone seemed genuinely interested in ensuring you were comfortable and having a good time. We were given an extremely informative guide round the estate.
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower wasn't as powerful as we like but was sufficient. It gets dark at night navigating the path but we had a man with a lantern to help us! On leaving we were given some gifts of produce from the Estate which was so sweet.
Food was good and all freshly made. A good Base for the area. Thank you so much for your hospitality

A very peaceful location, convenient for getting to Munnar (by car). The food is so fresh and prepared with their own ingredients and the estate is a delight to walk around.
The accommodation is very nice and the staff really friendly. Their spice tea (not masala tea) which is caffeine free was a favorite of mine and they even sent me the recipe :-)

This is our second visit,
The Host, Mr Baiju and the owner Dr Rajesh were at hand to attend to all our needs
8 of us did a day trek on the 70-acre estate that through rich dense forest, amazing views and fresh air. Our guide from the resort, mr mahendran was very knowledgeable and help identify many bird species, tunnel spiders and the occasional deer. The hike tool us 3 hours to reach the top, passing a lovely eucalyptus forest. Views were to die for. Pictures dont do justice. We trekked down through the neighbouring tea plantation ending with some cold beers back at the estate
The food at the resort was superb, spicy yet flavourful. we savored every mouthful.
A definite stay next time

Situated in the midst of hilly woodland the Ambady Estate provided cottages with their own gardens. A delight to sit and relax whilst watching the birds after a tour of the estate with a knowledgeable guide telling us about the plants and birds. The food was excellent with fresh ingredients from their land and the family and staff so friendly and helpful.

Ambady Estate is situated on a hill and the rooms are a short walk from reception and dining room. There is a cosy reception and we were warmly welcomed.
Food was excellent and service more than adequate but a little over zealous at times. Disappointed with the lack of Wi-Fi in the rooms and the failure to provide an external table and chairs when we requested (which the other bungalows had). It is a little remote from Munnar.
These are minor observations and did not spoil our stay. Our overall level of satisfaction was high.

Lovely bungalows set in very nice grounds. The room was very large with a nice seating area outside. Bathroom also large & very well equipped. It is a long way off the road & a long way out of town so we ate dinner here both nights & this was good & reasonable prices but you have to choose what you want earlier in the day. Staff were very good & friendly

The hotel is situated on a hill away from the traffic. It is surrounded by the fields where they have their animals as well as theur plantation. The rooms are spacious and quite nice. In the evening we had a lot of animals noises but we could sleep pretty well regardless of the noise. The staff there was incredibly nice and helpful. They even gave us a little present at the end, a bag of their home made coffee.

Ambady Estate is just before the main city of Munnar. It is situated on a tea and cardamom plantation and we were surrounded by nature all the time. It is a very welcome break for the life of a city dweller. You can hear the birds chirping in the morning and various insect noises at night.

The cottage was big and airy, food was quite good and freshly made. You can walk around the estate as much as you want taking in the fresh air and the greenery.

The only disadvantage of staying here is going to the main city becomes a little tough. Though if you arrange a cab, you can go for sight-seeing quite easily.

When I'm going to Munnar again, this is where I'm going to stay. It's highly recommended if you like nature and quiet surroundings.
