Detailed Reviews
We had a lovely 3 night stay here. Roy and his team were very friendly and helpful but the big appeal was the lovely old heritage building. Our room was huge with a wraparound balcony and near some lovely food and drink spots. The included breakfast had a good range of options.

+1
Stayed for 5 days, the place has definitely been restored and attended to with a lot of love.Every tiny thing has been thought of, the rooms are perfect and short of nothing. They provide an excellent breakfast. The owner Roy, Such a lovely person to meet and speak with. he will organise and speak with whatever service you require. We were so comfortable and easy with him from the moment we stepped into this quaint and beautiful place. The staff is also extremely polite. we were really sad to leave, it honestly felt like home.

If you want to experience truly goan hospitality then Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho owned and operated by Roy is where you go.
You can't go wrong here. The bed and breakfast is a home away from home. It's quiet yet lively. It's walking distance from the best restaurants of Goa.

Mr. Roy, the owner of this amazing place is a gem :) He told us he does not believe in reviews but his property and his service still deserves it because they are too good. The rooms are nice, everything works very well and Mr. Roy has taken care of every little thing personally. The breakfast is very nice ... His staff is very good. The value for money here is very good.. if you do not need a swimming pool then this is the place to stay as it is too good :) Just call Mr. Roy and he will make you very comfortable :)

I stayed at Mr. Roy's place early Sept as a solo female traveller after a week of meetings in Pune. I loved the place as soon as I set foot in it, the decor brings you back in time with its colonial furniture. I stayed in a premium room for 4 night which was huge and very bright. With all mod cons you need on holidays: A/C, toiletries, flat screen tv and a massive confortable bed. Breakfast is tasty, no continental breaky here though. Embrace Indian food as early as at breakfast as it is tasty. I had no idea of what to do in Panjim, I was going to look into it once onsite but after a chat with Mr. Roy there I had 2 full day trips organised with a private driver. He is a great ambassador for his region & I'm not surprised if the great reviews. I would definitely be back!

I arrived at the wonderful Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho after a couple of hours sweating it out on Goa's rattletrap buses. The hospedaria is a mere 10 minutes' walk from Panaji's bus sand, and is fairly straightforward to find. It is as lovely inside as it looks from the outside. I was welcomed by friendly staff and shown to my room, and soon Roy appeared, as pleasant, friendly and helpful a host as his email correspondence suggested he would be.
My room, an executive triple (which was to have been co-occupied by my partner and two children, who, unfortunately, had to return to Australia temporarily for a funeral), was spacious and immaculately presented, simple yet stylish with its palette of white and dark brown. The bed (I only tried the one) was extremely comfortable, the aircon was super effective and the TV had all the right channels. Needless to say the kettle and all the lights worked. Mineral water and tea, coffee and sugar satchets were supplied each day. And the bathroom? Simply gorgeous. Finally, there is a nice view of the neighbouring rooftops from the balcony.
Breakfast was superb, the best of our six-week trip. Every morning there was a different hot dish prepared, either Goan or perhaps from further south (one morning for instance I enjoyed delicious idli and vada with sambar and coconut chutney), together with eggs, homemade muffins, fresh rolls, muesli, fruit, tea and very decent coffee. Bring down your book or newspaper, or have a chat with Roy, while you squeeze in just one more coffee and muffin.
If, after all that, you are still in need of lunch, head for Kamat on 18th June Rd (I think) for really good dosai and veg thalis. In the aircon salon upstairs families and business types rub shoulders. In the evening, Viva Panjim will do nicely. It's about a minute's walk from the hospedaria and does a tasty pork xacuti. Have it with a large Kingfisher and you'll be in heaven. Try sitting downstairs or outside; upstairs is not as nice. I think it opens for dinner at 8pm (but check). I did pop into the little bakery around the corner from the hospedaria that everyone recommends. It is indeed very nice, but wouldn't sell what I wanted by the piece.
Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho was faultless. I only wish my partner and children had shared my experience. By the way, after leaving the hospedaria, I flew to Delhi to stay at the YWCA Blue Triangle Guest House, a bit like leaving a good friend to stay with a mad aunt....

I and my sister would like to thank the host (Roy and Sharon) for being so accommodative since the time we booked, during our stay and on check out. With all my travel across the globe, they r the best hosts and a perfect Bed & Breakfast to stay at. Everything is walking distance (bus stops, Market, stores, restaurants, much more to explore).
The rooms / foyer area were perfect with Portuguese architecture, the beds were super comfortable. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The breakfast is simple yet so delicious, freshly made eggs, bread. Etc. To start your day with.
Overall a fantastic experience and would 100% recommend for future travellers, who will not regret staying here.
10 on 10 for a perfect and enjoyable staycation.
God bless.

Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho is a charming and romantic guest house in a perfect location for exploring Panaji. I highly recommend this hotel.
Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho is located in the heart of the old city right near the Immaculate Conception Church. From here you can walk down the river promenade, check out the old city or go into the main city if you like. There are restaurants, ATMs, banks, shops, post office, etc all nearby. The location is perfect.
I arrived at Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho and enjoyed seeing the classic architecture of the well maintained building. When I was taken up to the second floor to my room I was blown away. The room was large and spacious. There was a charming balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The furniture looked antique and perfectly matched the character of the building. There was a large area for clothes, place to place your suitcase, tons of electrical outlets, A/C, a fan a huge bed. Everything you needed to make yourself at home. It would be easy for a couple to grab a bottle of wine and some food and enjoy staying in for a night.
The washroom was large and just as charming as the room. There were high quality toiletries including 2 toothbrushes and toothpaste, a shaving kit, a shampoo/shower gel/moisturizer kit and a beauty bar in the shower. There were 4 large bottles of water 2 of which were in the rooms very cold refrigerator. Coffee tea and a kettle were provided. Every detail was covered. Well done.
The owner was charming, curious and easy to talk to. I could have spent hours just discussing India, travel and other topics with him.
The neighbourhood of Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho matches the hotel. Charming, classic and warm. It's easy to walk and explore the old buildings and charming churches of this great neighbourhood. My stay was too short and the price overall was excellent for what you got.
I highly recommend Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho. It's a wonderful place to stay and I plan to return someday with someone to share the romance. If you plan on visiting India do stop by Panaji and do your self a favour, stay at Hospedaria Abrigo de Botelho.

This is a wonderful place from where go to the discovery of Goa. The owner, Roy, is great in helping us find what Goa has best to offer. One can rely on him. The place is great, the breakfast is amazing and the neighborhood of the guesthouse in Panaji is heritage. Well worth every rupee...

This is more like a hotel than a B and B. You have a private bathroom and the rooms are very large. The very best part, however, is having such gracious hosts. Roy gave me such great advice about what to do in the area. He was always available to answer any questions that I had. And he even offered to drive me to a couple of places. The breakfast was really good, with Indian food and omelettes , fruit, cereal and pastries. The location is very good as well. I highly recommend this place.

No, this property is in the town although there is a boardwalk along the water not far but really not a swimming area. Enjoy!
