Hotel's Favourite
Taj stay never disappoints. They know how to take care of the guests. We were helped with the early check-In. They (mis)informed us about the availability of the complementary high Tea in the morning. Having realized their mistake, they provided us buffet breakfast instead. Such are the hallmark of a great customer service.
Restaurant staff on every occasion made sure to take care of us through their service and gestures. There are many restaurants in both Heritage and Horizon wings combined, so plenty of choices to eat in.
Beach access was very convenient (For Heritage). Almost private, Clean beach and relatively calm to play in the water. Rooms were big, our family of 2+2 could be easily accommodated in the large bed.
Horizon wing is newly built and very modern but we liked Heritage more due to its very pleasant holiday resort feeling and direct access to the beach.
We are looking forward for our next Taj stay soon.

Its different. Its a star, a five star. Admire the location in back drop of a hill, a natural beautiful arc beach, green walking areas, constructed in1980s, yet contemporary. Uses natural lighting, free air drafts across the aisles, very colourful.
Multiple restaurants have variety of menus/specialisations. Chef Ravindra Singh is a craftsman of food, taste variety, with Suvavashish. Vinayak, Restaurant Manager is a multitasking young sensitive charmed. Must meet Madam Nikita, the front office first contact. She greets, educates you with the uniqueness of the property, almost pampers you with her care affection, gives personal touch of enlightening ways to brighten up your stay.
We are overwhelmed with unique charm of the environment around, that we are revisiting place for 3 nights in Jan 2020, although we were there in December 2019. Not giving pictures, as you must relish and nourish the sunset yourself and flourish.
Yes there is a scope to improve the hotel as it has great potential . I am confident to see the changes in next fortnght, as every one there is a good listener, very good learner. The excitement of guests on holidays sometimes makes a bit of extra loud noise in common areas and rooms around lift, but that is lively fun as well, as it testifies that guests are enjoying every bit of their minute spent there. We came from NY for a family wedding. What a great choice for the event! This resort is a beautiful mix of Portuguese architecture and Indian charm. The accommodation was very comfortable, rooms squeaky clean and the staff was extremely helpful! Our room attendant, Subash, made sure we had everything we needed from helping us connect to wifi to dry cleaning and steaming our outfits within a few hours. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. Apparently Cidade De Goa is a "five star hotel" which already raises one's expectations. If I were told it was 3 star, I may not have viewed it through such a critical eye.
Firstly: the mattress cover on our bed did not fit the bed at all so it was quite uncomfortable as one of us had to be sleeping on the side where the mattress could be felt directly under the sheets. From a five star hotel I would expect a well fitted mattress cover, fitted sheet, flat sheet and duvet.
Secondly: the food was ridiculously priced... Which is expected from a five star hotel, except it was extremely average and not worth the price at all. Problematically, external restaurants are not within walking distance of the hotel so one has no choice.
Thirdly: there was a Mehendi night for a wedding right outside our room with very loud music. The wedding party festivities took over the entire beach making it miserable for other guests to enjoy the beach. For our wedding we had been expected to book out the entire hotel (a hotel in Kerala) so as not to ruin the holiday of other potential guests. We found this very inconsiderate. The least the hotel could have done was place wedding guests in rooms on the side of the festivities and other guests on the other side of the hotel.
Lastly: we called reception a few times to try sort out these issues to no avail. We actually walked down a few times to talk to them and kept being told they would call us back but never did.
I do not know who decided that this is a 5 star hotel but whoever did has clearly never really been to a 5 star hotel. Our entire trip around India consisted of many 5 star hotel stays and we did not have an issue with any of the others. The standard for 5 star is extremely high and this hotel is simply not in that league.
If however you are looking for 3 star hotel, it is quite a pleasant stay. Enjoying a cocktail at the pool area is quite enjoyable, the rooms are clean and there are many activities organized by the hotel for a fun holiday.

Recently I became The Taj Member Club assuming I will have some privileges,so I went to Cidade Goa for happy hour where for the Taj Member the happy hour starts at 6 pm, my wife and I were promptly went 6 pm. The beautiful terrace was empty so we set at an empty table but a polite waiter said it is reserved, very unusual as the previous owner Mr Timlo did not allow these rules. Fine we set at another uncomfortable staring at this well placed table. About five minutes before 7 pm the same waiter came covered that with beautiful table cloth etc. At around 10 past 7 pm 6/7 jolly Johnnys came and set around the table, shortly after their drinks arrived goodwill spread all around. I asked the waiter who were the Johnnys and he said they were Taj owners, as far as I know Taj is a share holding company. I went up to the front desk and assuming the person to be a manager informed him that I paid Rs 15,000 to be a member whereas theses characters by turning up deprived Taj from earning some revenue had the privilege of table cloth free drinks with an excellent view, WHY. During the previous owner's time (Mr.Timlo) would never have happened, We are coming to Cidade Goa for the last 15 years. Taj remember we contribute towards profit. The stay was for 3 days and 2 nights. Right from checking in to check out the experience was smooth. The room were cleaning and well maintained. Thanks to Mr. Subhash for the room service maintenance. The pool is well maintained and the hotel maintains a variety of activities like Volleyball and Frisbee to play in the pool. Special Mention to Mr. Somnath for that. The property is attached to the beach which is peaceful and clean. There are water sports activities available too. There are 5-6 restaurants in the hotel premises which provide variety of cuisines at a good price. We had food at cafe Azula and Barbecue both are highly recommended. There is also club house with table tennis and carom and a proper functional gym. Overall the stay was amazing. We didn’t leave the property at all and enjoyed thoroughly. Will definitely stay here again.

We were in Goa to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday. All moments of truth were so positive that it made the whole stay memorable. Christine in reservations was most helpful in making our booking. The front office staff specially Saurav (hope I got it right) made us feel special and at home. Check in and Check out was efficient. The boy who served from the room service, Vinayak who took the orders in Room service were prompt and served with a smile. Divya at the restaurant was cheerful and engaging. We loved the way she served us. The Housekeeping boy (missed his name) was someone who was proud of the work he was doing. Always with a smile and wanting to so something special all the time (the towels made in the shape of a swan, flower were simply magical). All in all a memorable special stay and congrats to the team that recruited and trained the staff !!!

We recently attended a family wedding at Cidade De Goa. We stayed on the property during the wedding and had an exceptional experience. The staff were very attentive and always had a smile on their face. I would like to single out James who helped us with our bags. We were traveling with a family of five for two weeks so we had many bags and James never complained and was very helpful.
We also have a daughter who has severe allergies to nuts and sesame seeds. The kitchen staff was amazing in ensuring that there was no cross-contamination and went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable. In particular, I would like to single out Suvashish and his team.
It was a great experience for us and would recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel looks much better on website and in brochures than it actually is. Built in 1982 the buildings, though decorated fairly recently, are very tired and old fashioned. The rooms have a damp musty smell and the pool area is run down and not very exciting. The beach is situated at the mount of a river estuary and is dirty and water quality poor. There is what looks like a sewage outlet a short distance from the beach. To be fair the food wasn’t too bad but moderately expensive by Indian standards. The best was a “bottomless” barbi brunch for £18 per head. The staff are courteous and helpful but to be honest they are working with a real turkey. They are presently building a vast business hotel and conference centre behind this hotel and I understand that both are owned by the same company. I would imagine that the Cidade will be flattened and redeveloped in the not too distant future. Until that happens I would definitely give it a miss and even when that does happen they will still be stuck with the unappealing beach. In summary, this hotel is basically Butlins Skegness but with better weather and better food!

However it is with great concern we have noted that the overall experience at the hotel has not met up to your expectations during this visit and we regret the same. Cidade de Goa was designed by the famous architect Charles Correa, it has its own legacy and charm apart from a central theme and design running across, therefore the variation in layout, design and décor of the hotel. However we definitely have an opportunity to enhance our services on allotment of rooms and we will ensure a suitable room is blocked for you during your future visits. We will also forward your comments to the projects team during the next cycle of upgradation. With reference to your mention about the beach, kindly note that the Vainguinim beach by the bay is very safe and ideal for families with young children and is a huge attraction for our in-house guests, though it is a public beach it can be accessed from the hotel. What you may have noticed is the backwater stream at the end of the beach which originates from Vainguinim valley and connects to the beach. However, the beach is cleaned on regular basis by the hotel despite it being a public beach. With regard to your feedback on food cost, kindly note that our menu pricings are competitive among other hotels, nonetheless your suggestion has been noted and we will review the same. This property is located in capital of GOA (Panaji) and has private beach along with water sports, they are very careful for the guest requirements and they have amazing view from the rooms, great rooms, great hospitality, food quality was really good and the staff is very polite and kindful. Specially Mr. Pritam and Mr. Sushant were very helpful for making us more comfortable and they also looked after our all small or big needs from check in to check out. Mr. Raymond and other all restaurant staff were always carrying positive attitude towards the guest and they all were very cooperative. For travellers I would suggest to go for the Sea View room along with bigger gallery, they have two types of rooms in sea view, one is having smaller gallery and one is bigger. So that you can enjoy the evening hours spending good time in gallery. This is the best location in GOA to stay I would say, because you go in extreme North or extreme South it won't take more than an hours time. Overall it was the great experience at Cidade De Goa

Beach ok but grayish shingle sand, sea dirty and red flag up all of the time
Visited 12th-14th August 2022.... Swimming pool was not operational...but hotel made provisions for using swimming pool of Taj Resort & Convention Centre Goa which was superb with its open terrace pool having a magnificent view of Panaji. Hope it helps !!!
