We spent 5 days here and enjoyed our stay. I would class the lodge we stayed in as 'shabby chic' - it had everything we wanted but it is not luxury but good value for the money. Mark and Benoit were very helpful.

I can't say enough good things about my time at Mark's Place. Mark is a kind and generous host who has put an amazing amount of effort into making each bungalow unique and special. There is a great community vibe on the property, and if you are in the mood to be social, the type of people his property attracts...

If you're on a budget, the only thing Marks Place lacks is an apostrophe. Otherwise, it is well equipped with everything you need for your vacation on Moorea, including rental bikes, kayaks, and kitchens. Mark knows the area well and is happy to show you where to find various local attractions such as beaches and hiking trails. The buildings are...

Spouse and I just spent 11 days at Mark's Place. Had a great stay and enjoyed Mark and all he has to offer. Especially appreciated his advice on the best snorkeling beaches and local good restaurants. He also offered nice bikes and snorkel equipment that we found to be very adequate. We didn't try his kayaks, but they looked good....

My brother and I stayed at Mark's place in March of 2009 for a week. Because the original cabin he alloted for us was having a technical issue, he upgraded us to a larger cabin for the same price. We thought the location was great and if you wanted a faster way to get places, we simply rented a car,...

My first few days at Mark's where fine, I spent my days exploring the island with a friend staying at another local. We thoroughly enjoyed Ronald's Pineapple Beach, he is a great guy with an awesome place and great food. I was camping in a tent and the price was reasonable. I ate sandwiches from the local deli and drank...

I remember this place well, 2 years ago. Am surprised to find my original review not here anymore. I am certain my key points will still be relevant. Highlights were the lovely looking huts designed by Mark and terrific advice from Mark to go on a trip to see the whales. Lowlights were the location, infrequent buses and disappointment about...

We just returned from a three week Tahitian vacation with ten days of it on a Star Clipper cruise. What a wonderful experience. We are airline employees and travel non-rev, so we had to spend an extra two days before we could catch a flight back to the states. Upon a recommendation we decided to stay at Marks Place on...

If your looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Moorea we have the Bungalow accommodation to meet your every need. Our accommodation and environment is perfectly suited to families, groups, couples or individuals.Currently there are seven individual private bungalows spread over a 4 acre property. Each bungalow is completely unique and has everything you need for a comfortable stay (Full kitchens, attached bathroom, hot showers, Satellite TV, wifi, and so much more). If you don't have a computer than use our high speed desk to in the attached computer room.We are 200 metres back from the coastal road. The inner lagoon and reef is accessible by kayak at the end of our drive way. The nearest bathing beach(Panapo or Pineapple beach) is 4km away, 7 minutes by car or scooter, 15 minutes by push bike. This is a wonderful white sand beach that offers great swimming and snorkeling, a restaurant overlooking the beach, chairs, toilets, showers and shade all available for your use. 'Marks Place' does free delivery to Pineapple beach and then you can walk back along the beach after an enjoyable day swimming and snorkeling. Most of the surf breaks on Moorea are on the passes. The passes are breaks in the outer reef that surrounds the island. The break in front of Marks(Haapiti) is about 1km from shore. Its a very consistent break and can handle some size. It works on south swell generated from depressions that go under New Zealand. When the swell maxes Haapiti out go round to Taeme which works of big south swells that wrap round the island. See the activity/surf page for more detail. The closest sit down restaurant is a Pizza parlour 15 minutes away by push bike. A number of other restaurants are a 20 min car or scooter drive away. There is a small Magasin(Super Market) 5 minutes away by push bike with all the daily staples available, baguette, milk, fruit and vegetables etc. Mark has an arrangement with the local Pizzeria and Restaurants offering free pickup and delivery on request. We have long-standing experience accommodating and attending to the needs of our clients. We continue to build extensively, while taking into account the requirements of both traveling individuals and families seeking budget accommodation at competitive prices. ... more   less
