Beautiful houses and fabulous food! the accommodations are second to none, the houses , not rooms, very tastefully decorated with wood burning fireplaces that are set morning and night or at your request..and the meals are FABULOUS, organic grown on the property and oh so tasty...mora syrup to raspberry heart molded preserves...fresh fruits...this is wonderful experience. We stayed 5 days in April at Ali Shungu, after spending 8 days in the Galapagos and 4 days in Quito. It was the perfect ending to the trip - a great combination of relaxation, scenery, indigenous culture, and wonderful meals. There are many excellent and detailed reviews of Ali Shungu on TripAdvisor. Rather than repeat much of what has...

I hesitate to draw attention to Ali Shunga for purely selfish reasons ... I don't want it to become too popular! My wife and I stayed at Ali Shunga the last few days of March 2015 at the beginning of our week long travels through Ecuador. It was the highlight of our trip and I wish we had spent the...

We spent five nights here after returning from 7 nights in the Galápagos, a day of birdwatching at Tandayapa, and a day of downhill mountain biking at Cotapaxi. This was the relaxing part of our trip. We did day trips for hiking and went to some of the smaller artisan towns nearby. Alishungu is a very a special place: the...

We stayed here to visit Otavalo, being a world-renowned market. We visited the Saturday market, the Condor park, the Peguche waterfall and the weaver's workshop. I'll have to say that the real star is Ali Shangu. The market is a little over-rated and the other sights are ok, but Ali Shangu is something else. It's amazing how Frank and Margaret...

The accommodation is spectacular. An enormous open style chalet for just you and your partner. Its difficult to explain what makes this place to special. The views are spectacular but there are better ones to be had from lodges up the road to the lakes. The food is good but not outstanding. However, the staff are delightful and the owners...

We feel very fortunate to have read the Lonely Planet review that gave us the incentive to contact Frank & Margaret. After a few days in Quito and just before heading to the coast, we wanted to experience the very important mountain life in the Andes. The hosts of the Ali Shungu lodge have created an oasis for travelers while...

we stayed for three nights on the first leg of our trip and absolutely loved this place. Frank and Margarget, the owners, were incredibly welcoming and so helpful. The staff are delightful too. The setting is serene with gorgeous views and access to the surrounding area is easy. We highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a taste of the...

We stayed at Ali Shungu in the middle of a four month tour of South America because we wanted a relaxing break from travel in a comfortable homelike atmosphere. We certainly made the right choice. The cottages are extraordinarily comfortable. They are very large and bright with vast windows looking out to the mountains and surrounding green countryside. Beautifully decorated...

Our three generation family of eight spent three nights in 3 bungalows at the Ali Shungu Mountain Lodge during the 2014-2015 holiday season. The bungalows were clean, spacious and comfortable. Our children, ages 11 and 14 loved the relaxed pace and enjoyed making friends with the dogs, cats, horses and llamas on the property. The food was AMAZING! Frank and...
