I spent four nights at Cusin and was totally enthralled by its antique charm. The Hacienda has been painstakingly restored and is decorated with beautiful Andean textiles and artwork. The food is some of the best I sampled in six weeks of travelling through Ecuador and the gardens are a delight. There are plenty of activities to choose from but... More

Beautifully done gardens with wonderful common areas to spend time by the fire. Meals were fine, though definitely not the best we had in Ecuador. Friendly service on our quick overnight during a 3-day horse trek (with Ride Andes - see separate review for more on our awesome experience)!

I have just returned from a16-day stay at Hacienda Cusin and can't say enough in praise of the professionalism, kindness and generosity of the large staff. I have never experienced such excellent service, or such nice people. With typical Ecuadorian warmth and hospitality, every member of the staff, from gardener, housekeeper, and waiter to the office and reception desk staff,... More

In June I traveled to Otavalo/Lago San Pablo and stayed in Hacienda Cusin and Las Palmeras Inn. Both properties were exceptional and I can highly recommend them. I originally found the properties in travel guides. However, in posting this review, I discovered that they are misclassified as B&B's when they are clearly hotels that serve delicious breakfasts, included in the... More

They are unreliable. Offered us multiple options on horse hacks. Descriptiones send via email included gallop and atrot. We agreed on one of the rides and day before rides called to confirm timing. 4 hours before the ride they changed the hour and wrote that "our horses are only for walking, no gallop or trot available". We had to cancel... More

Stayed for two nights in one of the garden cottages. This hacienda is such a beautiful property, it's worth a visit even if you're not staying overnight. The gardens and the monastery are inspiring. Breakfasts were not exceptional, and service by staff was not always consistently friendly...both could use some improvement for the price. Also, wifi only available in common... More

Thank you for your appreciation of Hacienda Cusin, of its beauty and its gardens - so inspiring for La Familia de Cusin. I'm surprised that your complimentary, 4-course breakfast menu was unexceptional. And I am disappointed and apologize for the waiters who gave a sense of unfriendliness; to be discussed in our next manager's meeting. Similar to you, Cusin depends... More

I stayed 2 nights in this beautiful hotel. When we arrived, we were all in awe how beautiful the hotel was. There's something to see and admire at every corner at the hotel. I was particularly impressed with the hot water bottle in my bed at night. It was very thoughtful of them. Some rooms even have a fireplace inside.... More

Picturesque old hacienda with several remodeled buildings and interesting grounds including gardens, former monastery, even some animals. Rooms are fine, cold at night but every room has elec heater or fireplace, plus hot water bottle in each bed. Bathrooms functional. Good Service. Restaurant food was ok but not great.
