We decided to stay here on and off for a couple weeks to make it easier to help the in laws get around. Our first room was tiny and cramped but functioned. The wifi signal is weak and you see many guests in the hallways and the lobby because thats where you need to be to use it. Our second...

The location is poor and felt dangerous, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. We checked in before checking the room - that was a mistake! The room was infested with cockroaches. Even in bright lights the roaches were all over the bathroom floor and crawling over the mini bar. The windows didn't lock and the bathroom had...

My dad and I booked this place just for one night before heading to the Galapagos. Worst decision. We walked into the bedroom and immediately felt claustrophobic. The doors looking out onto the street were not secure and we didn't feel safe in this area at all. We killed three cockroaches within the first 5 minutes of being in the...

Our second hotel in Guayaquil, we picked the Rizzo for the great location across from Parque Seminario, one of the city's most delightful green spaces. While the place is a bit dated, our room was large and comfortable with a refrig stocked with a few beverages, desk and TV. Desayuno, served in the adjacent cafe, was the standard rolls, jam...

Reasonably priced for what it is. We had a large room overlooking the square. The bathroom unit had no top! Just a rough concrete platform. It looked like the top was away getting repaired or something. We were promised hot water but there wasn't any. No apology either. Then they wanted $4 more for what we thought was the complimentary...

Good friendly stuff, service was good. The building is really old so are the rooms - so you cannot expect much for good facilities but this hotel is in a safe area in Guyaquil and good location to walk around the river and the shopping area. Noisy at night - but I think it's the same for all the hotels...

I had just stayed at the Ramada but refused to pay $86 per night for an average hotel so I sought a cheaper option. The Rizzo was recommended by the Lonely Planet travel guide and I stayed here back in 2002. The hallways are dark and dreary. The linens have a musty smell to them that kept me up most...

The Hotel Rizzo is in downtown Guayaquil. The address is [--]; phone [--]. This multistory hotel was built in the 1970s, and the owners have done the best that they can with a now-aging building. Someone made a reservation for me for the one night of 12 April 2007. A desk clerk and TWO bellhops were waiting for my arrival...
