The best thing about this place is that it is in a great location. Numerous Chinese eating options are about right out the door and it is easy to start your mountain hike from here. Our private room was decent and provided basic necessities for our trip. I never looked in the dorms. Staff is helpful but reserved. There is... More

Although called a hostel, it is definitely not just for backpackers. The hostel has very basic and relatively large rooms with bathroom and TV. It has a really good vibe and the staff is extremely helpful. We stayed here several days waiting for our visa to be extended and we never got bored. It is in the center, close to... More

If you are comfortable with hostels, this one offers unbeatable value for money in the center of Taian city, 200m from Dai Temple and the main thouroughfare Dong Yue Street, 300m from the stop of the bus going to Tian Wai Cun village (from where take the bus to the mountain). Rooms are basic, but sizeable, clean and quiet (I... More

In Tai’an, the city you will stay to climb Tai Shan, this hostel is extremely difficult to find at night. Located within the gated walls of the WanLi Building, it can be accessed from different streets, depending if the gates are open or closed (approx. 5:30am – 18:00pm). It can also be confusing if you leave when the gates are... More

Definitely the best backpackers' option when climbing Taishan. The hostel is located on the main shopping street and the temple and the mountain can be comfortably reached on foot. The staff command of English is almost none but they are still probably the best English speakers in the city! You can get a free map of the area at the... More

Convenient location - although a bit hidden off the main streets - and close to the entrance to Taishan Mountain. It is also close to shopping and eating locations, but beware, Tai'an closes early! After 20:00 hours, almost everything is deserted! Price and rooms are ok, we had a private room.

Positives - The guesthouse is close to Dai Miao. Past Dai Miao is  the lane that goes to the entrance of Taishan.  The guesthouse is close to the snack street.  It is situated in an old style compound, which had a good feel to it.  Negatives - the rooms are average with not much storing space. The bath is small... More

We opted for Taishan IYH because really there aren't too many other options for international travelers. We used the stay as a cheap and quick stop-over before hiking up Tai Shan. WHAT WE GOT: Dorm room (2 bunks) for 90RMB/night with HI e-membership discount. PROs: The only game in town (as far as we could tell) that caters to the... More

I have mixed feelings about this hostel. Everything looks like hostel, you have hostel price and hostel quality, however you do not feel this good atmosphere of the hostel, where people from all over the world are meeting and chatting - the only people that I saw were using the hostel's computers and that is all. The room was of... More

Stayed here with friends for two nights, August 2012. We had triple and double rooms and everything was clean and rooms were in good shape. The beds are quite soft compared to chinese standard. The location is perfect, in the heart of Taian, very close to the Dai Temple, you can also walk to the Taishan entrance if you want.... More
