I’m just back from the trial period of the new hotel (after they build it again after the fire they had last year). The rooms are very good and as there were before, the common space had been restore completely, including the restaurant and bar but the main attraction are the explorations, they have more than 40 different exploration tours...

Uyuni Travesia: Isolation on the Salt Flats The Explora Atacama hotel is the base for this multi-day adventure called a Travesia. It is essentially a road trip across the altiplano of Bolivia with as much comfort as is possible given the harsh environment. The experience is so different from staying in the Explora Atacama hotel, that the Uyuni trip deserves...

I booked to stay here next January (2016). However, because of a fire, I was informed a month ago that they cannot accommodate me. They told me at the time that they would refund my deposit but they have not yet, despite regular enquiries. Very poor customer service.

Modern hacienda style hotel in the desert. The rooms are very nice and spacious. TV and internet are not the focus of this hotel, although wifi is available in the common areas. Comfortable bar, modern dining room with a varied menu and good wine selections. Lunches are served outside in warmer weather. All meals and drinks are included. The hotel...

Located at the edge of the town of San Pedro de Atacama, Explora is an all-inclusive luxury resort for those who love the outdoors but enjoy a good meal and outstanding lodging. I was so pleased with a recent stay at their lodge in Patagonia, that I decided to stay at Explora Atacama. Rooms As a returning customer, I was...

I have traveled to many countries and stayed at countless hotels, but Explora Atacama still impressed me in more ways than I expected. Its hotel design, its food and wine, its views, and its unique all-in system, most importantly, its hotel staff and activities guides, are very helpful, full of energy and fun, for a Chinese visitor from half way...

As per my title, just get yourself to Explora Atacama. The accommodation, common areas, food, staff, guides, activities- everything is first rate. Admittedly it is not cheap but with everything included and prepaid you soon forget that. Explora Atacama has provided my family with amazing memories of this unique desert.

Recently had 6 days at atacama resort. Absolutely superb. Airport transfers on time. Unbelievable walks each day ranging in difficulty and altitude. Guides gradually got us higher with final 5000 m on last day. Group of only three on most walks. Guides excellent. Good and wine plentiful and excellent. Drivers also helpful. Every one friendly and very helpful. Did not...

We spent 5 nights at Explora Atacama and felt it was not enough. The hotel operates under an all inclusive system and really almost everything is in your bill, including very good wines, alcohol beverages (try the pisco sour) and more importantly: 40 options of guided explorations. The guides deserve special props as they are not only very nice, very...

Fantastic stay in Atacama Explora. The bed was the most comfortable ever and the hotel very stylish and the bar friendly and well stocked. The guides are very good, especially Pistou and her incredible enthusiasm for horses and Raioul and his knowledge of the desert ( and Chile in general) The star gazing was fab too. If one were looking...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our lodge is located on a plain known as the Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by an ancient Atacameno community. We have respected the original layout of the land and restored and maintained some of the buildings.Opened in 1998, our lodge is situated on 17 hectares (42 acres) of grounds just a few minutes' walk from the town of San Pedro de Atacama. In the area surrounding the lodge, we have maintained the ancient pathways and buildings which form a labyrinth that invites exploration. There are 50 rooms housed in three long buildings, positioned to form a central square planted with large trees for ample shade. On the fourth side of the square is the building which houses the lodge's public spaces. The views from the lodge's broad terraces enable you to enjoy Atacama's vast chain of volcanic mountains. In 2008, we set ourselves the challenge of intensifying your explora Atacama experience, remodeling the furnishings and the indoor and outdoor spaces. Now that the work is complete, we are pleased to be able to offer you new facilities and services. ... more   less
