I stayed there over night on my way to Yangon. It's away from main town and looks totally worn-out.Rooms are like cabin type with old style noicy air-conditioner. Dining hall is unusually large with cheap paintings on the walls. Only saving grace is Kyaik Pun Paya, an ancient temple that is quite near to go for a morning walk.

Bago is not a town where a lot of tourist stop to stay overnight. This is why there is not much choice of hotel with western standard. Anyway, the people running the place were nice and helpful. The hotel in itself is made of little wooden bungalow, although it is spacious the inside is dark and gloomy. The beds are...

The positive thing to mention is that they have mosquito nets and that the staff is really friendly. The negative points: We had hairs and dirt on the one bed, little spiders on the other one (which was not surprising when we looked behind the curtains on the window behind the bed...). The toilette was just disgusting with brown spots...

On the outskirts of town, but then they all are, it is 26 bungalows decorated with very dark wood inside but reasonably clean with comfortable foam beds and a small bathroom. No television. They do clean the room every day and breakfast is adequate consisting of freshly cooked eggs and toast and jam. They will organise an uncomfortable tuk tuk...

If travelling from Yangon - Bago Star is about 1km before you get to the centre of Bago. Its down the same rd which leads to the Kyaik Pun Pagoda (4 seated Buddhas). Its a complex of cottages of dark wood, atmospheric inside with the teak decoration. Paper thin walls but at least there was aircon & mosquito nets. Pool...

We stayed a night at Bago Star en-route to Golden Rock. The room itself was quite dark and dingy, but I could have forgiven that (albeit the price-tag for the room was WAY too high). What bothered me most was how uncomfortable I felt here. It actually felt eerie and almost unsafe. There were large groups of young local boys...

Dark, no-view rooms that you want to escape from. Breakfast was okay. Staff quite friendly and helpful, and there's a swimming pool. Being off the main road it is quiet. Way overpriced, though, and wouldn't stay there again.

I stayed here for one night in November 2012. A bit pricey for what you get. The room was very spacious and clean, but quite dark. I used the pool in the early evening to cool down which was quite nice. Breakfast was simple but fast and efficient. The receptionist was lovely and helped me book my next nights accommodation...

This hotel was TERRIBLE. Here is our story with the Bago Star. We (2 women) arrived at the hotel in a taxi from Yangon. We were greeted by about 6 men / boys, one of whom seemed to be the receptionist. Upon checking in, we asked him if he could help us to book a bus to go to Golden...
